What qualifies as a good review?

[RANT] I don't know if my reviews are the best out there or even close. But I do try my best with them. I would never attack someone else's review. I know firsthand just how much time and effort that has to go in to such work. It's not easy. A reviewer has to be accurate about their findings. A reviewer has to be honest about the product. A reviewer has to take one's time and ensure that not only is the writing style of quality and interesting to read, the screenshots have to be bloody spot on. Even if the reviewer does not enjoy the product at maxed quality settings, max settings need to be achieved in order for the reader to see the product as it is meant to be seen because let's face it, everyone has different system specs. So what am I going on about? Well, there is a recent AVSIM review about FlightBeam Dulles that should have in my opinion, never been posted.
ADX>>Avsim has pulled the review. Topic closed.

I do not wish to discourage the reviewer. With that said, hopefully, he will take better care with the screenshots in the future. Mir turned ugly ol' Dulles into a masterpiece of art and this should be visually reflected in every review written. Even my own screenshots suck in my own mind in comparison to experiencing it first hand.

Here is the review:

Feel free to catch the ADX FirstLook in the link below which was published by me within 48 hours after release. You all really dig the FirstLooks! They are extremely popular on ADX. More so than my full on lengthy reviews! Whats up with that??

That review is a shame. I wonder what it is still doing on the website. You really have to want to make it look bad to lower the settings at that level.

I think your reviews carry a lot of enthusiasm and energy and I always enjoy reading them, I have since come to trust your opinion on most FSX products and use your reviews as a deciding factor in my purchases. Thanks again.

The reviewer needs to find out how to set up FSX before writing reviews. I'm very surprised Avsim allowed that to be published. Flightbeam must be angry that a damaging and shoddy review was allowed publication, Avsim have a huge following and many will be deterred from buying this scenery following what amounts to reviewer error and incompetence in operating FSX.

That really is a piss-poor review... Given the comments already made there, I will ignore adding my own 2 cents...
Needless to say, Flightbeam's KIAD was my first purchase from Flightbeam... I would love to get the rendition of Phoenix and SFO, but I am just waiting for the necessary funds to be available...
Too many great addons coming out soon, along with P3D v2...

...... but we are talking about Avsim are we not? The biggest but most unprofessional flightsim news site that represents only (and I stress ONLY) what they want?

this blog, eventhough the statement about the review is correct, is becomming a gossip piece of shiet. Get your act together D'Andre and try to become a pro instead of talking trash on others. You might be right but you sure as hell lose credit with these posts!

Not everything you read on ADX will be something you will agree with. Just a fact of life my friend. The review points a quality product in a negative light and should be improved or pulled. FlightBeam is advertising that very product on the same page of that review. It's not right. Sorry you feel the way you do, but it's likely not the only time such thing will happen. As for loosing credit, punching close to 17,000 hits a day doesn't seem to be reflecting your statement. But then again, there are many sites like this on the internet to choose from if I am not "pro" enough for you.

Not everything you read on ADX will be something you will agree with > I agreed with the part on the review, I disagree you making a worthless post about it. You call yourself a reporter but contribute something with real news instead of trashing on one review. The scenery has been reviewed by many and has enough credit as it is. Instead of wasting your time on these kind of things try to post correct spelled posts so that you are less in a hurry, in the end you come from the states (oops, I just trashed your spelling) 17,000 hits is just a number D, it doesn't reflect real life in any way but if you like numbers and that's your life I will respect that. This blog has gone downhill, just ask the guys over at PMDG. You have turned this blog/website into a gossip magazine and that's not a statement as well, it's just an opinion based on many forums I have been reading and people talking about ADX. Too bad though as this was one of the websites that was on my daily visit list but lately I throttle on to land somewhere else.

All the best of luck to you then. I allow everyone to express their opinions but cant express mine? On my own site? Throttle on my friend.

Who really cares what PMDG thinks? With all the positive media attention they get here, and with AVSIM becoming the police state garbage it's becoming, PMDG may want to rethink its own words.

Are you a reporter on news or a you a reporter on reviews made by others? You just don't get it D. It looks like D is becoming the police state of developers to trash on other reviewers. I think Mir is man enough to say something about it if needed. You have all the right to express your opinion D, did I say anything different? We all know you have issues with certain developers and other forums but try to keep it up to standard and not start trashing on others, you gain nothing out of it or do you?

"try to keep it up to standard and not start trashing on others, you gain nothing out of it or do you?"

Try to write proper English yourself before scrutinizing and bad-mouthing the writing of others! And in case your vodka vision is still blurring things for you, this is a blog not a newspaper.

The only critique I have. are the screenshots, but screenshots are often 50% of the review so they must be good. You are not letting your readers (the review writer) view the add-on at it's best visuals, thus the review completely misses the target.

I don't know why anyone would rely upon an AVSIM review. Their reviews are lies. Their reviewers are liars. Anyone who points this out gets banned.

My Allensworth apparently has adopted the position that his site is not responsible for the content appearing on it. Anyone who complains about one of the reviews appearing on his site is effectively told, "you should have known we are liars." Then they are banned.

I was banned for saying just that. Mr. Allenswoth was not happy when I stated that the reviews appearing on AVSIM need to be honest. That it is not acceptable for developers and reviewers to lie through their teeth.

Mr. Allensworth has pretty much stated that anyone who relies upon an AVSIM review in making a purchase decision is a fool.

The worst part is that Mir from Flightbeam has requested the remove this joke of a review and AVSIM don't see to care, it's still up there:
