FTX Global Thailand!

FSX/P3D. Man I just cant bloody wait for FTX Global. For FSX users, the default terrain is not too bad. But for me, the default terrain in P3D is just horrible. So with that said, thank God for Sir Iain Emms and his amazing talents and abilities. We just love FTX Scotland and just looking at the Thai landscape here, it's all very realistic! Great stuff coming!

That looks as though it resembles Thailand really quite well!

OK..if I was on the fence before I just jumped off...But now that I'm off can they keep me there? I'd; and possibly the general public, would love to know:
1. What LOD setting are they using?
2. Are these standard or HD ground Textures?
3. What Graphic Card do they use in these shots

1. By the looks of those shots I doubt the LOD is much (if any) higher than standard LOD=4.5.
2. For a landclass texture product, there is no such thing as HD ground textures (that I'm aware of).. these look like stock standard resolution textures to me.

Looking great, can't wait for release!

Before taking photos, they're pausing the sim to give time to loading textures, that is why they look so clear. I doubt that it's gonna look like this or similar in your sim while you're flying.

It is going to be blurry like other ORBX regions but this time whole world. Of course, you can switch to P3D from FSX to get rid of some of the blurries, (as user of both P3d and FSX I can say there are still blurries in P3D, also you get more OOM since it's using more RAM) but not all, it's their signature i guess..

How will the textures for FTX Global look in existing FTX regions? Wll the textures be the same?

In FTX regions (ie England, PNW, Australia etc.) the region textures display rather than the FTX Global ones. Basically FTX Global is presented in any location that is beyond any installed FTX Region specific product.

really looks like GEX USA to me.....noreal improvement over GEX......

Yep, don't worry DMac, I'm sure they'll be just the same...just you'll be able to continue outside those regions with more FTX textures anywhere in the world.

Existing FTX regions have there own textures so they will not change.

FTX Global is basically ORBX's version of GEX.

Chris said...

Of course not. They are "just" a replacement of the default landclass textures. So anything activated in your scenery library will show up accordingly.

Wrong again. Just read what FTX Global is. It is just a replacement of the default landclass. So it is up to you whether you have blurries or OOMs, nothing to do with FTX Global. FTX Regions and FTX Global are 2 completelly different products. Inform yourself before commenting!

It is not even landclass. As of right now it will just be textures. There will be a small area of landclass included and thereafter added but what you are seeing is replacement textures and autogen.

Landclass is the definition that calls upon the textures so to speak. People seem to be getting this confused. Think of it this way: UTX is landclass and vector data and changes 'what' is show where. FTX Global is the opposite- it changes what that 'what' looks like. Think GEX except ORBX style.

You're absolutelly right! Sorry, i forgot the highly important "-texture" in "landlass-texture"... Good that you clarified it! Thanx
