Without a doubt, AirDailyX is growing fast. And as we grow, so does the many different personalities that add to our readers from around the world. We have always strived to be different and allow a bit more freedom than anywhere else. At the moment, we are in the process of building our website and forums so we can do much more. We will also be looking for ides from all of you. But till then, we do have a request that we hope will make commenting on the blog a bit less confusing for everyone. Rather than insist our readers go through the trouble of having to log in, we would like you to try 1 easy step. If you enjoy the blog here, do us a favor, please take a second:
It's very simple!
Use the drop down menu as you always do. Instead of selecting Anonymous, select Name/URL
You will see this box pop up:
In the Name box, enter any name you want! Just put in a name, make something up. You are still commenting anonymously!
Leave the URL field blank!!
Press the Continue button and add your comment in the box like always!
Press Publish and that's it!
As you can see, it only takes a second more and now we as well as your fellow readers can address each other much easier. It's less confusing, everyone still remains anonymous, and this makes differentiating between comments easier to read.
If you appreciate all we do here, this is the very least you can do for us. Don't ya think? We don't ask for much. Just a small measure till the new site goes online.

I like the idea of leaving a name. Not sure how many rude/irrelevant/trolling anonymous comments you guys need to delete, but hopefully the idiot factor does not get out of hand.

I know that troll or and annoying person are not welcome anywhere.
But if you start to be like avsim with the rule of sign with your name and all that crap to get identity from everyone this is going to change the freedom that this blog was born.
Now you are the number 1 for info on FSX communty, but if you adopt that request you will see vanish more and more comments and real thought on product and quality.
Even developer answer with anonymous so there is a reason why we like this freedom.
In terms of correct critics and review that this blog publish is like no other.
I hope that this will not change.

Well i have news for you, when the site goes online, that will be the case. as for giving your real name, im quits sure not everyone at Avsim signed up with their real names.... Just try to think about that for a second. You'll get it.
With freedom comes responsibility.
Some of the anonymous posts can be slanderous, totally rude and ignorant. There is a huge difference between free speech and slander. Maybe with a sign in name, real or not, it may stop such blatant disrespectful behavior.
Lets remember, we all want the same thing, to enjoy our hobby, and our own choice to use whatever scenery, tool, tip or Aircraft the way we want. The facts will help us decide.

I have been watching airdailyx develop since a year ago. Up until now, things have been going in a rather negative direction in terms of the community here.
I fucking hate anonymous people. It's not just adx, anywhere which gives access to anonymous messages deals with trolls everytime. I have experience on some hardware news website which you can send anonymous posts, same deal with here, ''oh xbox is good ps3 sucks' or nice versa, 'oo you pc fanboys' etc etc, the equiavalent of those comments in adx are no wingflex no flybywire, list goes on.
You guys made a good decision about removing anonymous comment possibility.

Absolutely incredible how a simple request can spiral out of control! The need to hide ones identity in a hobby based forum is silly. The way I see it, those that post as anonymous and insist on continuing to log in under the said monicor, may be those who choose to obtian their FS software illegaly. Those who are honest have nothing to hide.
Some of the comments on this page are nothing less than juvenile.

Is it just me--or wouldn't it have been so much easier to simply remove 'anonymous' as a drop-down option--rather than now deleting anonymous posts.
As for trolls being discouraged--I don't really buy that one either. Then again, maybe they are so lazy as to not bother with an additional step.
I wish we could but we cant. It's binded to the same meun option that lets you enter your screen name. We kill one, the other dies too...
Believe me, I tried. But even with this easy change, the majority of the trolls have been to lazy to bother.
If they keep it up even under added names then we just might counter with a captcha... LOL!

Actually you can log in in you like. If you have a gmail account you can use your same name and password or simply create a google account.
We do not require this though.

In fact, the only reason why we don't require it now is because it's just not fair to have people to sign up with google which is a 3rd party here.

I'm a girl and I play FSX. You can search me in Google.
I noticed that avsim switched their forum now so that login is required for everything. I have a real issue with them over that, as it makes ALL the support fora useless unless you are logged in with avsim, who may well be tracking my forum use... In the days of PRISM and co, not a particularly good thing... I have an issue with support fora hosted by third parties.
PMDG and co will need to move their support fora to their own servers if this is to continue... I really should not require a login on a third party independent system in order to view support issues...
With respect to posting here, I fully understand and support the need to post with at least a name. Same way that any forum-like system should work. Open or anonymous posting capabilities will lead to trolling, spam posts and all sorts of nonsense.
The problem with forcing registration and logins is data protection acts. If the user is required to part with personal data, you will need to fulfil at least in part some data protection requirements, the extent of which depend of course on where the blog/forum is physically hosted...

Not accepting anonymous comments is a step in the right direction, but it is not sufficient. The way you are set up is anyone can go in and make up a name and post, then next time make up a different name and post. Essentially the same as anonymous. To get some real credibility in postings and and avoid trolls, you need to do what most other sites do and require posters to list their email address along with their username.
I have been posting comments as aMonymous (not aNonymous) and my comments have not been posted???
I no longer buy any product that has it support forums on AVSIM, many other are doing the same also
