Razbam, you're killing me! (In a good way)

FSX/P3D. As some of us literally watch the Metroliner develop in front of our eyes (did you pre-purchase and take part in the beta?) Razbam keeps making sly posts of their EMB120 renders. At fist they were just the basic shape.  The wings, the tail, the props and so on but the team has hardly screamed 'look at these!' whilst posting progress.  Today I just happened to take a closer look at the render and saw the trees for the forest.  Wait, is that how that goes?  I don't think so but it applies that way around in this scenario so let's go with it.  The details have slowly found their way in and this thing is starting to look awesome!

I've begun to notice that notice that RAZBAM does point out the highlights of their projects like any developer does, but they don't always mention them all.  Anyone else notice the volumetric prop effect on the latest Metroliner?  Unless my eyes deceive me they are there and I don't remember the team saying anything about it.  It makes me wonder what kind of tricks they will have in store for the 120 which might I add will be filling a huge void in our FS hangars.

Razbam does actually point out the highlights of their projects. The 3D props were confirmed and previewed quite awhile ago after a customer had asked about it. Usually they just don't do the "this is what we'd like to do" kind of thing and instead wait until something is finished and confirmed to work and then say "look at what we can and have done". It's like the prop vortices and icing effects...those weren't previewed or discussed until they were finished and it turned into a nice little surprise :) Didn't think it'd be possible but i'm starting to think the E-120 will actually be a step up on the Metro...so far Jose's model is looking fantastic! :)

I guess a better way to have put it would have to called them understated. There has been a definite shift in the way developers keep us informed of their progress. Just look at Carenado- first come the renders and then they've got paint, reflections and spec maps making screenshot art before they've bolted the seats in much less systems. I am not faulting them for that, they are selling a product. I just personally by Razbam refreshing because it they post more of the old school 'progress' shots as opposed to endless 'promo' shots. Neither approach is wrong, just my observation and nothing more.

In our ever-increasing desire for new toys, some design houses just bang out one "new" plane after the other. Not really tested, no real depth to them... the modelling is good, the textures are fine. But that is just about it. Every now and then, there is a design team that just does... I look forward to seeing the full Metroliner with all bells and whistles being released. The EMB-120 is nice too. If the turboprop simulation is close, I am sure that both will be good FSX/P3D aircraft.
I stopped buying into the other design concept. As much as I applaud the work and dedication of such people as Bernt Stolle and Bert Pieke as well as a number of others who made the aircraft start to work as they should have done at the outset on release, at the end of the day, these people never saw any gain other than the kudos for their hard efforts.
I am ever so choosy nowadays. I always said I would get the T7 from PMDG on its release. Here we are, several months down the road from release and I still haven't got it yet. I am sure I will one day, but only when a few things are clear...
Good luck to RAZBAM with the final development steps for the Metroliner and the work on the 120. I am sure at least one will find its way into my virtual world of flight...
