Official Lockheed Martin Prepar3D v2 Announcement!

 http://airdailyx.blogspot.de/2013/11/official-lockheed-martin-prepar3d-v2.html
P3D. Yes, this is what we've all been waiting for! Lockheed Martin have just updated their website with the official announcement about pricing and a release date of the 25th November 2013.

One of the most noteworthy items is that Prepar3D v2 absolutely requires a video card that is fully compatible with DirectX 11. If your system has no DirectX 11 video card present, Prepar3D v2 will not be able to run! We will continue to keep you updated as this news develops.

Exciting :)

Excited, hope the academic license will be enough to run at FSX level of usability. This is the next step!

@ CngDelta757. You will not be disappointed.

What about slopped runways ??

Hi Hi said...

As long as many add ons are not useable in this pimped up FSX version which still is a 32bit version which just uses a bit more of your hardware I won't switch. Things as fsrecorder and ezdok and PMDG and so on need to be useable so that videomakers like myself can make the switch. Next to that this is a training tool which states that it's not for entertainment purpose yet they team up with the biggest names, ORBX, FlightBeam, in the community which develope for FSX and still say it's a training tool. This is an issue!!!

While it´s true that P3D V2 is a "pimped up" version of FSX, some of the "Pimp ups" are very important. Like true use of multicore processors and alot of graphical stuff beeing moved fram the CPU to the GPU.

I dot expect P3D V2 to be a revolution over FSX, but rater an evolution with somewhat better graphics and some increase in FPS and smoothiness. I guess problems with blurry scenery and artifacts running with too much autogen will be rectified or greatly reduced.

This will probably not be FSXI but rather FSX½.

What about wingflex? :))))

DX11 said...

Will it support GTX 560 TI?

ALX WNT said...

LOL... As long as you're not a developer, i dont understand the point of discussing this EULA thing over and over again. Give up already, stop beating a dead horse. All major developers dont give a thing about EULA nor training sim or something else.

They are switching to V2, and soon you will start to see P3D V2 only addons because of 'limitations' in FSX, like FS2004/FSX switch.

Be happy about what you get, take it or leave it pal. Nobody cares about EULA or sim, we only care how it'll perform; better or worse than FSX.

Unknown said...

Not only training. Also for "simulation" and "learning". I think by far the majority of FSX (and FS9) users qualify for that.
I think all license lawyers out there should stop searching for reasons why FSX/FS9 users couldn't possibly qualify to use P3D. I am not a commercial pilot, nor will I ever (sadly) be. That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to learn about operating an aircraft and simulate aircraft flight.

The GTX560Ti supports DX11, so yes, it is supported by P3D.

No Wingflex....;-)

WILL SLOPPED RUNWAYS BE SUPPORTED IN P3D V2 ?

No

Jason Navarro said...

Yes they will.

Hello, One question i have to the Version which we are allowed to buy. Are we allowed to buy the professional version ?
Many thanks.

Cheers

Pascal, when you go to a McDonald's in France or wherever you may be, do you ask them which hamburger you're allowed to buy?

Unknown said...

....what a stupid answer... Which version we are allowed to buy regarding to the EULA ?

Dave said...

It really is quite simple. Go to the Prepar3d site where the licences are explained in full. Only YOU know your circumstances and only YOU can choose what is right for YOU.

See you in version 2

Dave said...

Oh Hi Hi. I am sure we will eventually see you in Prepar3d V2 and some may say better late than never.

With regards to "pimped up", I'm not sure if you mean that in a derogatory sense. Regardless, if you want to use that term in a simplistic sense, then it is fair to say that every release of every flightsim (within its platform) is a pimped up version. Ever use FS95? FS98? FS2000? FS2004? I suspect that you are too young to have even heard of them. Have continued fun with FSX, it will continue to work for a few years yet.

Chuck Norris said...

There's no sloped runways. There's nothing on the forums or websites that there's sloped runways in P3D V2. I hope they do sloped runways maybe for P3D V2.1 or V3, something like that.

Chuck Norris said...

lol at Kristian.

Just get the academic version. If your into military jets and shooting guns and stuff then get professional plus.

Denzel said...

I there, Rookie question please :
With This P3D V2 it is the end of OOM issues, ? I mean is it a native 64bits program ?

Sean McFadden said...

Two things Denzel:

Look at the minimum requirements on the top link and you will have your answer. If you want to read up on discussions about this same topic follow the second link too.

@ Pascal-Antoin Ducardus

Mais non, not stupid, what you buy is decided by your wallet and circumstance. If you're secretly training the Mali underground movement to fly F-22s and F-35s, then you absolutely need to invest in the Professional Plus version. If on the other hand you just want to scare the neighbours in an Extra 300, the you'll be fine with the Academic version ;-)

We're not going to take your money ... most of our existing addons will be made to work with P3D2 at no cost. We will progressively update our entire library to have triple FSX/P3D1/P3D2 installer, beginning with FTX Global this week before the official LM launch.

RAZBAM said...

Yes they will as far as some scenery developer decides to make them..they are not included in the vanilla sim, eventually the development community will get into it.
@Chuck Norris, there are quite some threads about at the P3D V2.0 Beta forums on the subject.

Denzel said...

Thanks for your reply Sean
I know my nickname is the firstname of a famous american citizen but i'm french so when i read all the things in the press release and so on unfortunatly i can't understand everythings
i saw the recommeded specification win 7 64bits but to me it doesn't mean that is a native 64bits program, that's my rookie (and non english reader) opinion lol what do you think ?

Another beta tester said...

There aren't sloped runways any more than there are in FSX. You can make them, but it still includes all the problems that plague sloped runways in FSX. The main one being no AI.

Unknown said...

It's not 64bit, *BUT* the OOM issues had more to do with DX9 than not being 64bit. DX11 will give us a lot more headroom than we had in the past. Beta testers never reported any OOM issues when testing, so I would say for now, yes they are history.

Jason said...

"Beta testers never reported any OOM issues when testing"

Clearly, you were not on the beta test team, Thad. The issues surrounding OOM's are not resolved in P3Dv2.

As for "OOM issues had more to do with DX9" well - that's just complete rubbish, I'm afraid.

I might encourage you to do a little more research before posting such ill informed statements in future.

Unknown said...

"Clearly, you were not on the beta test team, Thad. The issues surrounding OOM's are not resolved in P3Dv2."

Did I say I was? Uh no... I will say again, I have not *read* any reports of Beta testers getting OOM errors. If they have, they have not written about it.

"As for "OOM issues had more to do with DX9" well - that's just complete rubbish, I'm afraid."

Really? May I suggest you spend more time researching hours and hours of endless debate on forums for the last year and a half about the subject. There are multitudes of comments regarding the problems of DX9 and how it allocates VAS memory, by folks that are far more knowledgeable than you or I. But hey, you can call them stupid too.
If you feel that I have been posting such ill informed statements Jason, why don't you stand up and enlighten us all? By all means, please, straighten me out.
Since you have provided no such insightfulness to this topic other than to provide a completely useless counter post, why did you even bother replying?

Route Clearance said...

I get OOM's with the existing version of P3D, and according to the forums and other peoples issues, few if any were ever resolved. In fact, I've received more OOM's in P3D than I ever got in FSX.

Something tells me V2 won't be much of a difference where it concerns these issues. Wait and see I suppose.
