Simbrief is born!

[FS Tools]. Officially launched on August 6th by Derek Mayer, Simbrief is a free access service that helps us generate and print standard flight and dispatch document as used by real Airlines. It is based on Navigraph cycles but can be used on older ones. (Simbrief doesn't provide the flight plan).
Clue : In Flight simulation, some hard core simmers are even using some real login access to real Airlines dispatch software to enhance their flight...

SimBrief Goes Live: After years of work, the most in-depth freeware flight planning tool ever developed is now available for use!

SimBrief's unique flight planning system is capable of generating in-depth briefings which are virtually identical to those used by real world airline pilots. With such features as accurate fuel calculations, step climb planning, ETOPS calculations, real world weather forecasts, and current NOTAMs, SimBrief is an essential tool for any virtual pilot looking to take their flights to the next level!

Registration is free, give us a try today and let us know what you think in our Support Forum!

An interesting tool that might very well complete Flysimsoft PFP X.

Complete or compete?

From what I can see, it still needs you to file a route and it will not make one for you. Also its climb rate on aircraft are a bit off.

PFPX does 10x more than this.

Maybe, if it exists someday

For the 738 the fuel calc works very well.

Ryan, I should hope PFPX does 10x more as it's payware. No matter what a free dispatch tool of this nature is a pretty cool option for simmers.

The only think I would like to see is compatibility with NavData Pro.

Hmmm, I am confused on that datas. I ve tried it with a short- and longhaul (NAT) flight on B738 and B744. The calculated datas are far from reality : the longhaul flight would have nearly 1/3rd fuel too much on board (wich would result over MLW).

On the short trip, the calculated fuel is far away from EUR-OPS minimum fuel requirements and will never be enough for the filed alternate.

Only a medium range flight that I tried with the B738 comes close(r) to the reality.

The weight & balance sheets is calculated on pax ammount only (no cargo) which makes it useless.

For departure, it will always assign me runway, that is in use for landing only in reality (no option to choose, and no SID/STARs as well).

Did I make something wrong ? I dont think so...

Did you post these observations on their forum? Something tells me that would go a long way to improving this free tool.

Yeap, I ve been worked on a similar system a few years ago, but I gave up very quick in course of the complexity and the ammount of variables for a real working solution.

Being that this is free, we all need to show patience to the developer, and help him as much as we can.

I expect that they are working on a payware system and/or premium accounts and try to get some users and experiences that way (or way do they have so much business partners on their side ?). May the force be with them...
