The P3D FirstLook of New York City X is not going to happen today. OOMing with normal settings, I reduced all sliders to minimum and was unable to fly for longer than a couple of minutes before I got the OOM's even then. This is not Drzwiecki's fault. But I will have to hold out for FS9 before I can give any kind of review. When Dom is back from vacation tomorrow, i'm sure he will give it a go in FSX with DX10. For what it's worth, the frames weren't too bad with an average of 15-20 FPS. Again, sorry guys. I was really excited...
4,001,728K but no OOM.
The funny thing is, after taking these shots, P3D would not OOM this time... even though you can clearly see my system struggling to load the scenery which it did every 3-5 seconds as I panned around. The good thing? Frames were not too bad.
Strike that, OOM soon as I went full screen...

Had the same problem. Was real excited loaded up the PMDG at LGA pushed in the power and boom.. The dreaded OOM. From what I could see it did look promising. If the New York airports is of the same quality then that is going to be a package well worth the money!
Ouch...that doesn't sound good, I better wait for some reviews before I pull the trigger on this one...
Did you check VAS Usage DAndre ?
Ouch. Some pain in Poland tonight.
IMO This Manhattan scenery is simply too detailed for most of us flying heavy jets into NYC, as we will only see the place from afar. Maybe DD can create a 'lite' version of the city in the future, along with the airport sceneries.
Right now the only people I see who will be interested in this scenery are helicopter and GA VFR pilots. It doesn't look flyable (from a VAS standpoint) with any payware airliner addon or with any payware (FSDT or DD's own) airport scenery.
We warned you it wouldn't work. You called us trolls & haters. What amazes me is the scenery doesn't even look that good on my Pc so I'm not that bothered about the OOMs as it'll be uninstalled soon.
Downloaded the demo. Looks like they sourced out some free data/models because when you look closer at the buildings all you can see is all these random boxes and shapes on a building like on Apple maps. My FPS wasn't that great with the demo.
When P3D V2 comes out I'll probably buy this.
Most of the screenshots shown by Stanislaw Drzewiecki were taken in DX10 mode. This is a prime example of where DX10 is unbeatable when compared to DX9 for large cities. I very much doubt you will experience any OOMs if you use this scenery in DX10.
"4,001,728K but no OOM"
That's no magic. The VAS Limit is at 4.194.304K
You can expect your OOM about 4.100.000K.
Time to delete bgl's!
DX10 is no good for me. Most of my fav sceneries are best in DX9. DD's NYC is crashing in Dx10 too, so its not a viable option as DX10 only delays the OOM.
I wonder if they'll even bother finishing the NYC airports now? Seems foolish considering the environment.
Even with DX10 mode, it seems we wont be able to fly with NGX nor upcoming 777 or any addon plane. I dont think people use default aircrafts anymore. And i cant imagine what the heck's gonna happen when they release airport ack. Maybe Aerosoft Manhattan + airport pack is more logical choice.
Dont think the airports will have anything to do with this. They are just airports and no one is ever going to use all three at once anyway... So thats a non issue. Many have gotten NYC to work out okay. But lets face it, we need the x64 P3D. For what its worth, its a helicopter pilots dream landscape!
Yes but, if NYC alone cause OOMs, what do you think gonna happen when you install only KJFK ?
I don't think DD really know what they are doing. The NYC package is clearly a third party model they have paid for & tried to convert to FSX. One of my main grips isn't just the OOMs, it's the visual quality of the buildings. Most of them are just blobs with blurred texturing up close. Exactly like Apple maps as someone else already said.
no way they'll make a quality JFK, EWR or LGA unless they radically change there design techniques.
the suprise of people that it doesnt work is hilarious....that was absolutley expected to happen from the day they had the idea cityscape sceneries are a BAD BAD BAD idea as simple as that...and sorry but thats 100% DD's fault for even thinking about pulling something like this
FT Hong Kong & Dubai bad ideas?
Some of the aerosoft cities are alright too.
As if the night lighting alone wasn't a dealbreaker already...
Did DD even beta test?
I would drop the whole JFK/EWR thing now and let an experienced developer handle it. To think Flightbeam was willing to create EWR until DD announced it's development.
I have to ask, if you can't fly anything but your PMGD, why even bother with this scenery? Seriously.
After turning on DX10, the scenery rocks!
Fixes for non-DX10 users: http://drzewiecki-design.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3036#3036
Applied. Buildings still look like mush for the most part. Even worst actually.
The fix is to stop the OMM's, not make it look better. The fix (depending on which one you use) makes it look worse by design.
