AES 2.31 released!

FS9/FSX. Oliver has finally released the latest version of AES. These updates really do seem to be coming further apart time wise with each release. I credit this to the fact that Oliver works alone on AES and wishes not to share the code. The downside, developers and users have to wait on him. But it still remains the most popular tool in the history of FS aside from Fsuipc. Here is what we got:

No new features (those will come after the summer) but new airports:

  • EGGW UK2000 Luton xtreme
  • KCLT ImagineSim Charlotte Douglas 2013
  • KIAD FlightBeam Washington Dullas
  • KMIA LatinVFR Miami V2.x 5
  • LGSK AS/29Palms Skiathos X
  • RJGG Pacific Island Sim Nagoya Chubu
  • SAEZ TropicalSim Buenos Aires Ezeiza Intl 2013
  • UHPP Aerosoft Kamchatka X 0 - NEW
  • VTBS A_A Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi Version 2013

now you can say: look what GSX did to AES... . The Devlopment of AES came very quiet as more GSX updates came up. I like AES but now im on some point where i didnt use AES anymore. I would never image this back 2 years. GSX did a great job and in the last releaes like KIAD or the from FSDT THE DEFAULT MOVING of the Jetway is enough for me AND i get jetways on AI traffic too. I realy hope that Oliver release a bit more... BUT he has a real life too so no problem. BUT He and Aerosoft must look for a new man on their Product... not the first time this question came up

Agreed, GEX looks and performs so much better than AES...Had GEX been able to get the gate movements for all payware airports (as AES does) i reckon most of us would use GEX over AES...but its soley the docking of jetways at payware airports that keeps me using AES (not really feeling the steep price for AES credits either...bit of a rip off)...hoping for a far better update of this software in the post summer months...

Aerosoft really needs to throw more resources into AESm rather than having Oliver do all the hard work. AFAIK AES is a real moneymaker for them.

AES is Oliver's product. Aerosoft is simply the publisher. Believe me, if Aerosoft was the sole owner of the product, there would be a team of folks developing for it.

In my opinion, it's quite selfish for Oliver to operate the way he does. I have always felt this way. In fact, I upset Oliver back in 2007 when I expressed my thoughts on AES to him.

I don't blame FSDT for creating GEX. Their sales started to really rely on AES. People would hold off on purchasing their sceneries waiting on the AES update.

But I have personally had to get over AES to a certain extent. I have gotten tired over the years waiting to see if a certain airport would ever get AES or not. But I do hope Orbx will create one of their own considering they refuse to work with Oliver and they are getting into bigger airports again.

Its so annoying that GEX wont work at payware airports....i love how it looks and performs...AES credits i have to say again...OVERPRICED!

why it wont work on payware airport? GSX work on all my payware ALL!! As i see 5 credits again for Miami? thats hard

I don't understand why most developers still use AES. FSDT, Flightbeam, UK2000, Wingcreation, ORBX all have moved over to the standard FSX jetway system. I don't just don't understand why Imaginesim, A_A sceneries, FlyTampa, LatinVFR, etc still use AES for active jetways.

No for KMIA its only 2 credits if you had it before.

GEX works at all of my airports too. What sells me on GEX is there is one cost and one cost only for all airports and the nose wheel turns during push back (this is really big for me). I just wish GEX would incorporate a push and pull feature instead of just push.

Because the default jetway doesn't work and doesn't look as realistic as the AES jetways.

As long as the AES jetways remain king, the FSX default jetway is rubbish.

but we should think over -we talk about a few second movement and have on the other side a much better ground simulation as with AES. And as a Beta Tester a can say that GSX is not realy finish now -mean it will get much more features. Thank you Lucas for the hint btw.

Oliver needs to stop this ******. Just sell it to aerosoft and let them make something nice. He is just selfish. He knows he doesn't have enough time to develop. This update disappoints a lot of people. i also think that devs are irritated by him. They want to have there airport supported and it takes months for aes support. It's just waiting when gsx is releasing a jetway option for devs to put in there scenery and aes is done. Thats how simple it is. The only thing that is keeping me with aes is pusback and jetways. And i won't buy credits with these small updates after months of waiting.

You guys referring to GEX I assume mean GSX right? GEX is a texture replacement program for the stock scenery.

Well it is a good product. The one thing that sticks in my claw. I just purchased 10 credits a few days ago as well KMIA V2, 5 credits to activate the scenery seemed like a lot, but I did want it working. So 5 it is, well that is until I updated to 2.31 today. It went back to DEMO mode until I added 2 more credits. So I added the amount needed (2), I did not matter that I have 3 left, I will only purchase NON AES airports and stick with GSX. I hope a lot of you will consider sending a message to Oliver so he understands we are not cash machines.
I just as soon from this point on push the really hard Ctrl + J key combination to get my jetways to move.

Lucas makes a great point. GSX looks great, but those jet-ways just ruin it for me sinking into the ground like that. If GSX can work to create a new system of Jetway for every paywear add-on out there like AES does then we'd all be happy.

Unknown said...

Simple answer, don't like the price design your own and tell the developers like flytampa and imaginesim to end their static jetways or your forever bowing to Oliver for jetway movement.

GSX IS BETTER said...

Why? Because it works with ALL airports for FREE.

+ KIAD included
+ KMIAv2 included

- I'd have liked to see CYVR, too!

- KJFKv2 has been ignored by Oliver. Was it that effort to remove the few isolated jetways?

- Upgrade from KMIAv1 to v2:
to get upgrade benefit, i'd have to install the old version on my rather fresh FS installation first, then start AES to recognize the installation. Then, using the deinstallation tool from the KMIA developers, installing KMIAv2 and starting again AES....

Instead of wasting my time on that, i did invest another 5 credits. Maybe it helps Oliver to design a seasonable credit implementation.

- Norilsk hasn't been considered in the AES summer-edition. Maybe we're more luckily, when autumn-edition will have arrived.

Simmers are used to wait.:)

While I agree the credits are over priced and that was a horrible issue for the re install "I dread doing mine this weekend " remember fsdt makes gsx I do remember umberto saying arguments somewhere there not willing to work with Oliver anymore cuz of business issues, and jfk v1 came out before gsx. New mapping = New file. Sucks but it's the truth it is an expensive hobby we chose.. heck with the money I've spent I could have got my private license already.

I've loved Aes since my FS9 days. I tried GSX but the lack of jet support & the add-on manager put me off.

The dispute shouldn't be settled on customers expense! I've purchased both, GSX and tons of AES credits.

The irony in here is, nobody of the competitors will lose anything if they coop here.

If Oliver makes it compatible again, my credits are dedicated. So i'd have to buy further credits more early. His win.

If Oliver doesn't support the scenery, at least after the next FS installation (of course there are other ways) we'll have more non dedicated credits left, that means we aren't forced to buy new credits at that time. Which isn't advantageously in selling.

GSX is as we all know one time purchase. But if someone insist on AES support maybe he'll avoid buying the FSDT v2 airport. So from FSDT end further AES coop. should be offered, too.

So it's very clear this isn't any plausible competitors issue but more likely a personal issue.

They both should get over it for customers loyality reasons.
