Prague. What's going on?

[QUICK RANT] What on Earth is going on with the Praha Ruzyne project? According to an insider, things are not looking good. More to the point, the preview topic on the Aerosoft forum has been removed. Now personally, I don't understand why they would just remove the topic without communicating to the community the rationale. If any developer or publisher shows off previews, gets everyone worked up, and then just fades it out with out any explication, that is just bad business. Besides that, it's just rude. The last we heard from the developer was back on the 22nd of April: "...we're working on it" But given that this is a native XPlane development, I am becoming skeptical we will ever see this in the more popular platforms...

And I am saddened as I have been waiting on a proper Praha for several years. Since FS2002!! I love to visit this airport... and this country... Hopefully someone can help clear this up for us.

I think Aerosoft and the developer had a disagreement?

Some developers that show off 3DS max previews before showing any in sim shots first are just looking for attention. Usually doesnt go further than a preview.

Was`nt it FSDG who were making Prague? So look at Iceland, Djerba, DEX and it`s quality. Also take into consideration that AS and FSDG had a conflict shortly after the "DEX-disaster". So in my opinio it was just a question of time. What a pitty...

I really hope so DAndre! I'm simply gutted. I had high hopes for this one as it was quite personal to me, as I can see from the pics, it was for you too.

I lived in beautiful (and I think you'll know I mean that in more ways than one)Praha for the better part of a decade, flying in and out of Ruzyne (now Vaclav Havel apparently) four or more times a year. Learnt Czech and all. Feels like a second home airport to me...even a second home city. I can't believe this. I strongly second your comments and hope we get some news on what on earth's going on. Didn't know it was native xplane...thanks for the info.

Are you in Mala Strana looking up at part of Hradcany castle in that pic?...can't quite figure it out since its been about 3 years since I last had a chance to go back. Hear from friends its already changed again since then. Can't wait till I can though...Feel like a pint of the old Staropramen or Cambrinus now. Great beer! Great city in so many ways. They've been having some water trouble in recent days...I remember helping put the sand bags up during the last floods a few years back.

Was really really looking forward to having Ruzyne in the same, for so long. Please, please someone make it happen!

All the best,
Sid

I think FSDG's involvement with Prague was only to port it over to FS9/FSX under it's own name. The actual developer is XHT Labs.

Well maybe they can sell the models to FSDG or Drzewiecki Design or LHSimulations to complete the project...

It looks too damn not to get it finished...

Couldn't agree more. Really hope it doesn't go to waste completely. That's just too sad, whatever the reasons behind the scenes.

Hradcany is booked fir the next trip! These castles have to be reserved aeveral months in advance. The one above is Karlstejn. Had to visit Prague twice just so I could get to the crown jewels...

Sid said...

Ah, of course, Karlstejn! Thank you! Really is a land of castles, isn't it? Wow...didn't know it had become that hard. You're obviously very dedicated at your second hobby...or is it your first (lol). Hope you enjoyed the crown jewels!

I'm actually at my real home right now but seeing that pic literally made me feel home sick. Can't believe it...I really hope they do whatever can still be done to salvage the possibility of this airport for the most popular sim...the screens looked so true to the airport. I watched this airport develop to this state over the years from the communist-era shack-type single terminal I first flew into all those years back. This is a sad day indeed. Surely an explanation is at least deserved after all the build-up.

from AS forum:

Topic will be back soon, we are just changing the contract and it is not good to have a preview topic without having a contract. But don't worry, in fact it's a move towards a far better product.

Do you have a link?

I hope this is true! A link might give it some legitimacy and allow you to keep us posted here conveniently DAndre! Come on anonymous...show us the way dude.

I can assure you Prague is not a dissappearware.

More to the point. The actual makers of Prague are XHT Labs. It is true that XHT are primarily X-Plane people, and they had a hand in converting couple FSX sceneries to XPL10 for Aerosoft.

However they are working directly with FSX, I suppose FSDG supplies some knowhow.

Also I dont know what do you have for an insider, but my insider info tells me progress is slow, but steady.

DAndre Newman said...

To be honest, the insider is irrelevant at this point. Obviously there is an issue if Aerosoft pulled it from the forum. So slow progress sure but steady? Not so sure.

Wonder what to read into this...intriguing...could it possibly mean they may be working on the wonderful city too? Nah! That'd probably be too awesome.
