Flightbeam Washington Dulles (KIAD) Imminent!

FSX/P3D. Flightbeam Studios has announced that release of Washington Dulles (KIAD) is expected this weekend! Great news, development previews of this airport have been very impressive. Can't wait to get our hands on this one... See inside for the official statement from the developer and perhaps the last preview shot prior to release.

Statement as posted on the developers Facebook page:
------------------------------------------------------------
"KIAD is near release, BETA is done, and we've reached 1.0

If everything goes well, this will be a weekend release, just in time for Father's Day!"

Perhaps the last preview capture prior to release:

I have no doubt it will be a very good airport.

However, although I have their KSFO and KPHX, and I am very pleased with them, I will pass on this one.

The reason?

In my opinion, we did not need another KIAD, since ImagineSim's is both good-enough and recent-enough.

At the same time when major US airports are still uncovered (eg Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and others) not to mention the rest of the world (Asia, Africa) where we have very few airports.

For example, we needed many times more a ZBAA or a Domodenovo, or St. Petesburg airport, than another KIAD.

The only defense a customer-consumer has is his wallet.

And for the above reasons, this time my wallet will not be available for them.

I too hate addon manager. It is more troble than its worth. EA style usless DRM. It should be banned.

I understand and support where you're coming from bud. Wish there was more variety, like Fly Tampa does, just for superhuge projects instead.

If 2 releases a year, 1 US and 1 international or something would be better but they only decide on their forum voters only, which is such a small number compared with all interested potential customers.

I'll probably wait on this one to see what direction Flightbeam's going to go in general. Hope there's going to be a broader vision. I will probably buy it after a foreign airport's done. if they do it but don't hold out much hope. Anyway, no other way to at least express this wish that many of us not on forum have. That said, KIAD looks done amazingly well...well done for that. Thanks.

While I won't divulge too many details, I can tell you that the "secret" project might be what you're hoping for. I hinted before, that it's very big, and international.

Additionally, for the next airport poll happening right after KIAD release, there will be a very small shortlist of airports to choose from. One of them is a very large international airport that has not been done before.

The poll itself will be advertised to all existing customers on our email list, so that it's not just up to regular forum visitors. It's all up to customers at this point :)

This is incredible news indeed! This is simply the best news I could ever have heard! Flightbeam really is going to be a global player on a world stage. I could not have even imagined being so exited about the secret project as I am now. I'm so going to support you with everything I can now that this has been confirmed, on hearing this wonderful news! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much Mir!
