Video - FTX Global Copenhagen + Carenado

FSX/P3D. John Venema of Orbx has posted yet another FTX Global preview video. This time, a comparison between default FSX and FTX Global flying over Copenhagen, Denmark. Instead of the trike, John is using the Carenado Cessna 210. See inside for video link and description.

Video - Orbx FTX Global vs. default FSX flying over Copenhagen, Denmark + Carenado Cessna 210- click here

Some comments regarding the video per John Venema as posted on the applicable forum thread:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
For this comparison video I did the following:
  • Virgin FSX install, then added FTX Global, no landclass, mesh, airport, scenery or any other addons apart from REX
  • Disabled the external FPS limiter and set frames to unlimited in FSX.
  • Added the default weather theme "Building Storms"
  • Installed REX environment
  • Installed the Carenado C210 with Garmin glass active in the VC
  • Set season to Fall, mid-afternoon

Key things to look out for:
  • Comparable FPS with Default and FTXG, same fluctuations from 30-42FPS (a good case for external limiting)
  • FSX Default has lots of "desert" textures, sparse autogen
  • FTX Global has much denser autogen, no desert, no flickering objects

It's starting to feel like FTX Global marketing is being shoved down our throats!

PMDG 777 release interest <1000000 %
FTX Global release interest >0.000001 %

Whiners and trolls please choose from the following options :

- It will cause OOMs
- It does not look like Copenhagen in GE
- There is no wingflex on the Cessna
- John Venema is a mean, nasty man
- The landclass is all wrong
- Using unlimited frames is not a true comparison
- Default FSX looks better
- He's using ENBSeries.. Oops no he's not doh!
- What about with the NGX in a thunderstorm with full AI?
- I am an Orbx hater, it's been three days since my last troll

Disagree! Please continue to inform us of all FTX Global videos and updates ADX. These videos are going a LONG way to convincing me this is a day1 purchase.

You have to hand it to Orbx: they know how to market their stuff and they responded to the ENB critique without skipping a beat. Hats off to them. More vids please !!!

None of the above.

Orbx ripped off my money with FTX England when it created big blurries outside of england when FTX Region is on. PNW, AUS dont have this problem.

How about that Fanboy?

I don't care about the T7, not on my radar and don't fly tubes. FTX Global on the other hand is a game changer that a large majority of simmers are interested in.

But I am surprised though, if I were interested in 50 minutes cold starts, FMC programming and 10-hour flights I would want FTX Global to make the outside world more plausible. Each to their own with their bias I guess...

lol

I'm not troll by no means, but when ORBX blocks people from commenting on their videos, it really shows what a bad company it is.

Purely pathetic, and just because of that I shall not purchase their add-ons.

p3.

Whatever your feelings towards OrbX, their marketing, even their staff, you have to hand it to them this time. They are going out of their way to provide the FS market with a level playing field comparison of their FTXG with default vanilla FSX...

I say a big thank you to the team for this. I would it does show that OrbX cares somewhat about their public profile. Good mve if you ask me...

Keep them coming, I am still sitting firtmly on my fence with respect to this one

Yup going to be a game changer by introducing OOMs to a whole new audience ;-)

I don't see FTX Global as a smart move on Orbx's part. Just like they tackled Australia and divided it into 4 parts, they should have tackled all of Europe dividing it up in regions, ditto for the US East Coast and Africa. By placing airports in regions that have few quality FSX airports at present, they would have upped the interest in that geographic region, as they are doing with Wales and the soon-to-be released Scotland.

Demographically FSX users fly mainly in Europe and the US, this is also where most quality payware airports are located.

A Southern African region with a few high quality airports would have been great, especially since South Africa and Namibia offer unparalleled scenery.

So now we get a global solution, even if we don't really fly globally. I would far rather see more region specific scenery development, than trying to give us the impossible, since the way FSX is coded, FTX Global will never deliver what it promises, it just can't due to FSX limitations.

THey block comments to stop jerks like you from posting crap, being rude, flaming and trolling, LOL! YT is total anarchy these days, and a lot of companies besides Orbx do not allow comments - for good reason.

Get a grip. You want to comment? Join their forums; they have yet to censor any negative feedback on FTX Global yet, including today when someone pointed out a blip in the Copenhagen video.

I think there are just too many people who are Orbx haters for no good reason. Time to move on kiddies ...

How will this product co-exist with UTX ??

Anonymous said...

A voi "altre" software house nel mondo della simulazione...Potevate svegliarvi prima..ora è troppo tardi..ora c'è ORBX FTX Global!!

Anonymous said...

I thought we had established that the talk of OOMs was just AVSIM tweakers causing trouble again. No?

Anonymous said...

Orbx didn't rip me off as I have no issues with blurries outside FTX Eng (the only Orbx product I own so far)

How about that Hateboy?

Anonymous said...

I'll let you know when its released...

Anonymous said...

Actually I would far rather see Orbx spend some time on patching YBAS and YBBN, as the frame rates at these two Australian airports is absolutely abysmal.

How is it possible that FlyTampa can create and develop a complex airport and surrounding cityscape with their Dubai scenery and deliver a product that is incredibly framerate friendly, yet YBAS and YBBN stutter like a slide show with the same FSX settings? And in comparison the area around YBAS and YBBN has nowhere near the same amount of buildings, complexity etc.

I just feel that when it comes to developing sceneries it's not just about the wow 1 cm effect, it's about how well the scenery actually works in terms of usability. I would really like Orbx to kindly think about revisiting YBAS and YBBN to fix the horrid framrate!

Anonymous said...

All of these FTX Updates are getting old... Please stop posting them on ADX

Anonymous said...

I fully agree with that point.

Anonymous said...

No.

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with this, an update on YBAS and YBBN is long overdue! How Orbx released it with such bad framerates in the first place is beyond me.

Anonymous said...

What does FTX Global promise that it can't deliver?

Anonymous said...

I'm bored of the same old previews too. Its all looking the same worldwide. Not worth the price.

Anonymous said...

Orbx's YBBN is probably the worst large (even though its not that big) FSX airport ever made. The constant texture reloads, the stutters, the low FPS. All on top end hardware.

Its deserves some sort of incompetence award.

No wonder they stuck to small farm strips after that total disaster.

Anonymous said...

It was the airport I was most looking forward to at the time and probably one of the biggest FSX disappointments I ever had!

When YBAS was released, I was gobsmacked that again the framerate was abysmal, having thought that they would have learned from YBBN.

It's a shame that I essentially have 2 framerate broken Orbx Australia airports and nothing has ever been done about it!

Anonymous said...

I couldn't agree more!

Anonymous said...

I have seen comments from John Venema here this week in other threads regarding FTX Global. I would like to know his thoughts on providing a performance enhancement patch for YBAS and YBBN.

As everyone above me has already stated, such a patch is long overdue.

Anonymous said...

Orbx don't really strike me as a "grab the money and run" outfit, so I'm surprised that they haven't taken the initiative to provide some sort of performance patch. I mean they too must have noticed the mediocre framerate of these two sceneries.

Oh and YBCS doesn't seem to have the same problems, so obviously they do have the know how to make a large airport more framerate friendly.

Anonymous said...

Maybe AirDailyX could send him a friendly email to ask him what he thinks about a YBAS and YBBN performance enhancement patch?

Anonymous said...

What does FTX Global NOT include?
Geographical and vector data (roads, rivers, coastlines, elevation mesh)
Full hand-crafted landclass and polygon landclass
Unique ground textures native to the area you're flying in
Upgraded airports everywhere
Traffic on all major roads (only default FSX traffic)
Extensive custom modelled POIs like power stations, windfarms, stadiums, photoreal areas etc

The "Unique ground textures native to the area you're flying in" is really where FTX Global fails in my eyes!

Anonymous said...

Yes John, how about you address this issue of horrible performance at these 2 airfields?

It's all fine and dandy promoting new scenery, but how about fixing broken already released scenery first?

Todd said...

Fine, then let them continue remaking the world region by region. That should only take the next 20 years. In the meantime I'll enjoy Orbx-style textures and autogen worldwide combined with their landclass.

Anonymous said...

I do hope potential FTX Global newbie customers stumble upon this thread so they can see that Orbx has left all of us in the lurch when it comes to YBAS and YBBN being slide show sceneries!

As someone pointed out above, if FlyTampa can create something as sophisticated as Dubai, yet without any impact on frame rates, then Orbx must be doing something terribly wrong!

And here Orbx is trying to convince us all that they are at the top of their game, clearly they aren't.

Anonymous said...

Nah, I'll pass and wait for Prepar3D V2.

Anonymous said...

Not like husband and wife, or maybe just like that?

Anonymous said...

No, the only thing they are good at is marketing their stuff, it's almost like John Venema is a born politician if you catch my drift :P

Anonymous said...

The market is probably fading as FSX ages & Orbx's sales figures must be dwindling considering their recent releases are quick ranch strips with a few shacks.

Now they setup new offices & teams, I bet they are getting desperate & will sell anything to make a bux.

Anonymous said...

At least Orbx should have an idea now that we're unhappy with what they delivered when releasing Brisbane and Alice Springs.

If they had any decency they would fix it.

Anonymous said...

Orbx should do a poll here with AirDailyX for which of their airfields we want fixed.

Anonymous said...

Nicely put!

Have you guys been in touch with Orbx about these airports?

Thanks a lot for that! ;-)

But where did FTX Global promise any of that?

I think it's time to out this troll!
