Imagine Sim Charlotte X : First Look

FSX (FS9 already released). Apparently nobody cares about Charlotte. Nobody but Imagine Sim. The city has no secrets for Americans. But the airport is really interesting. It's an important hub for US Airways and KCLT is very well located between the North-East, Florida, and is not too far from Dallas or Saint-Louis. The FSX version is really improved compared with the first one, released in... July 2008!

IMAGINE SIM CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS KCLT  FSX
(FS9 previously released and tested here)

Version tested : FSX
File Size : 137 MB
Installation : Very easy.
Manual : Yes. 13 pages in english.
Framerate : Approximately 20/25 FPS aboard a PMDG NXG at gate.
(configuration I7 / 3,4 Ghz / 6 MB / Geforce GTX650 TI / WIN 7)

So you expect Imagine Sim Charlotte to be a top-quality Fly Tampa-like airport ?
It's probably not. But the airport is more than a decent design. Textures have been upgraded, new parkings have been included and for the first time, hundreds of 3D cars are surrounding the platform. Each gate included many static objects, like pushback tractors, trolleys, containers etc. (these objects can be removed if you want some extras fps). The cargo areas have many hangars with Airlines logos, some vehicules, trucks and semi-trailers.
Considering the size of Charlotte Douglas, this is a massive work. The changes in the real airport have been updated too.

These screenshots have been taken with best graphic quality settings on a 1280 x 1024 x 32 bits  FSX screen resolution.

No air museum :(

The terminal looks really, really nicely well done. The rest of the airport, however, is a bit lacking in detail. At least one part of the ground image is over a decade old, and many of the Bank of America hangars are missing entirely. The FBO area is quite inaccurate as well.

I have it, no details, textures are really awful, you cant even tell that you are in Charlotte unless someone tells you....they did not capture the atmosphere of the place. No surprise tho.....its Imagine sim, gotta imagine the scenery is nice! Guys save yourselves a couple f bucks and get KIAD Flightbeamstudios.

This looks fantastic! I will purchase this as soon as my wife lifts my add-on freeze.

Lol..when did she catch you :) Was it after the review of the monthly budget :)

I too have to be a bit more keen on what I pay for to be worth a slight argument with the Queen of the House...
Good work ImagineSim
but
FlightBeam, see you soon

Yes, the review of the monthly budget got me :) I'm surprised with quickly my add-on purchases added up. My last purchase was the Majestic Q400...I'm glad I slipped that on past the Queen. I hope the freeze is lifted in time for the Flight Beam IAD release. It's not looking good :(

Nice review, screenshots look great. Imagine Sim keep on improving.

Ten years ago this scenery would look great but today seams developers are making realistic airports. Taxi2gate improved alot and now imagine sim and blueprint need to to improve their quality as well.

Well I bought it and am somewhat disappointed. Made the mistake of assumming this would be up to the FSDT-Fly Tampa or Flight Beam standards. Oh well......!

A good attempt at one of our less interesting airports. Not quite up to FlyTampa levels, though to be honest, not many are.

Sorry, but this is in no way an FSX scenery that should be priced at over US$ 30!

You are so right man !!!

Every developer has their own standards, although it is not FSDT or FlyTampa, I still think it is a great add on, and I can't wait for their ZSPD.

Maybe that's why its $28.99?

To be fair, Imagine are not too far away these days from the top guys. It's silly to compare them to Blueprint.

I was at the airport overlook adjacent to Runway 18C at KCLT earlier this week. I've been at the airport quite a few times before, but this week I paid careful attention to the terminal and facilities because I had just downloaded the new ImagineSim version ... and I can tell you they nailed this scenery! Honestly, I don't know what the above poster ("no details, textures are really awful") is talking about. That's absurd. ImagineSim has stepped their game up quite a bit. KCLT is a very well-done scenery.

Imagine have got a lot of negative press these past years, some of it deserved. But they have smartened up their recent products a great deal lately and are heading the right place. To be subject to this farrago of whining from certain quarters is unwarranted and foolish.

+1

Almost 30 Bucks is way too much for this scenery.

Sorry but the inflation of the airport prices makes me angry. For premium products like Dubai or KLAX it's okay for me but not for middle-class quality products for middle-class airports. Noo way! Same with Atlanta or the german Aerosoft products!

30 Dollar. What a joke!

How did all this absolute non-sense about Imaginesim's inferior quality vs FSDT or FlightBeam get started? I could easily point out many defects (some annoying, actually) in both FSDT's and FlightBeam's sceneries! Yet all three make great stuff but none perfect. Isn't this about SIMULATION?

The thing is bud, it's your choice. Too much money for you then don't get it. Don't get angry. Buy the stuff you like, leave the rest. This airport isn't middle class, it's a great product. I think it's worth it. I buy it. Simple really.

i have this product. It has very terrible fps. i get 30 fps at FSDT KLAX and 8 fps at KCLT.

Really disappointed.
