Amazing Outerra Video - Future of Flightsim?

Not...FS9/FSX/P3D. I just came across a wonderful Mig 29 Fulcrum video using Outerra thanks to a link posted on the Facebook page of Lebor Simulations. Every time I see an Outerra video or screenshot, I wonder if it could be the future of flight simulation? I fully understand that there is a ways to go, but I think the potential is there... For those of you unfamiliar with Outerra, it is basically a 3D planet engine with simulator capabilities. Video link and some Outerra screenshots inside.

Note: Apparently the Mig 29 Fulcrum is to be included in version 0.7.15.

For me it's the best graphics engine for sims, and in the opinion of many of those who create addons for today sims, it's the best option to not use excessive RAM.
But, Outerra engine must be paid to be used and nor Xplane, P3D, DCS etc... wants to pay for it if they have it's own graphics engine.

Nowadays it's a question of money, and Microsoft have gone away...

Yes, the Outerra engine... It's so beautiful, just look at those snowy mountains on the picture. But sadly, I have the same feeling like the SIRX Italy prjoect. I trhink this will never be a reality for us, but I hope.

Nice engine but it will never happen.

Why?

There're basically only a few textures on the videos. Also, what about the weather? It's always sunny with no cloud in sight. Is it smooth? I see stutters in the video, might be because of the recording. No AI either. ETC. It does looks nice though.

Why doesn't let's say ORBX or Aerosoft team up with the Outterra Team and start developing a new sim? It looks like the basic structure in terms of graphics is already there...

Oh how I would love this sim...

Best looking engine i've seen so far for a world model. That screen from the edge of space is sublime. If they get this finished in the next five years, publish an SDK and we can get the basic functionality of FSX, P3D, or X-Plane, I will be one happy simmer.

I run the Outerra Tech demo on my PC with every slider to the max and it looks amazing. HOWEVER, no real airport to speak of, nor is there any town modeled. It's all wilderness. I think it has brilliant potential, but we must wait and see if anyone wants to pick it up to develop it further...
