More Orbx Broome (YBRM)!!!

FSX/P3D. Orbx screenshot guru Iain Emms has posted some screen captures from Broome International Airport (YBRM). This upcoming scenery looks absolutely fantastic - delightful to see Orbx venturing back to Australia! Take a closer look at some more shots inside.

Fantastic scenery. Question about 3rd picture from the bottom, and assuming its Rex essential overdrive textures, what texture set is used here for clouds ??? Very nice set and realistic overcast emulation.

I will NEVER buy another ORBX scenery while I'm alive.

Sure they make the pictures look good, but when you run it on a a high-end machine like mine it keeps getting blurrier and blurrier (3770k @ 4.7ghz / gtx 670 oc'd / 16 gb ram FSX installed on a samsung 840 pro 256gb drive)

Never again ORBX, never again.

Mike.

Perhaps tweak your cfg file so it reflects your pic spec.

Believe me, I have tried EVERY kind of tweak possible including that botoje auto tweak website.

Hey mark,

Are you using hyper threading ??

Stop tweaking your machine, thats your problem, your loaded up on AVSIM-CRAP tweaks, or something farted out by NickN on a windy morning

I agree, Orbx scenery is over hyped. They never looks as good as their fake marketing.

Nope, hyperthreading does nothing positive for FSX performance...in my opinion that is.

*Popcorn.

Blurries, fake marketing, get a grip here. First the blurries, this is everyones problem, the 4GB memory limit, many good discussions on this, see almost any developers forum, and remember the NGX demands. Fake marketing, what are you talking about, Orbx are pushing the boundaries for scenery design, as are many others.

Use LOD Radius. I've found 5.5 to be a good compromise between burriness and FPS.

I'm also fighting against OOM errors in Canberra approach with NGX, almost every setting is low and again there's OOM, with 3770k at 4.7 ,12GB RAM, 570GTX..

I also agree that Orbx is over-hyped, we had same trouble with Helsinki X from Aerosoft and i still remember the sh*tstorm because of OOM issue until patch, imagine you have this error almost every major ORBX airport and nobody complains about it.

Overhyped indeed.

The banana trees look good, but the coconut trees are way too cartoonish for a tropical region. If you're reading this, Jarrad, you need to re-do the coconut trees.

Orbx scenery all OOM. Very bad. Not look like pictures.

I gave up Orbx long time ago. Brisbane was a huge disappointment. They never even try to make that airport friendly. They are making some very beautiful sceneries but unusable. As for Brisbane I can't remember how many days i've spent tweaking fsx to get some decent results, but in vain. I know it's the nature of the fsx user to be masochistic but it's too much.

I've noticed a trend lately at AirDailyX. If the staff have strong interest in a product, no criticism shows up. For instance TheAirportGuys who produce subpar and frankly boring products. Or well, many developers who never produce anything, like AWG.

These get salivated over. Why?

Then products that are given any sort of negative glance at ADX get thrashed in the comments. Nothing good ever shows up. Aerosoft and Orbx get hit hard despite that they are of few companies that actually produce large amounts of consistent work.

I sincerely hope that ADX doesn't turn into another FS site that has favourites, punching bags, and an agenda.

Haters be hating... this thing looks amazing, I love the location and I love the detail. Rather than comparing this to ORBX products that are 3-4 years old, I'd probably compare it to other similar sized airports they've released over the past year or two - Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Ketchikan etc. I own these three and they all run sweet on my 2yr old rig. I totally can't wait for this one, it took me by surprise (I'm waiting for NorCal) but I'm hooked.

Thank you for your comment, please allow me to briefly respond.

We are certainly objective and honest as it relates to our opinions - there is no agenda, no purposeful “punching bag”, and we do not play favourites. In fact, playing favourites would be very difficult as internally, we often disagree regarding the quality of products and even developers.

The reality is more popular developers often receive more criticism because of their relative popularity, this we cannot control. We are an open book and encourage the community to express their opinions…we do not censor said opinions, that’s what makes ADX different.

Bring it onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!

Haters be hating...is this something they teach in college? Or high school? While I agree this scenery looks very nice, I also agree that Orbx has an inconsistent track record with regard to frame rates. Maybe that's why they chose not to do any more large airports until recently and focus on the smaller stuff. You can detail an airport to death but the real trick is to keep it flyable.

'You can detail an airport to death but the real trick is to keep it flyable'

Could not have be said any better. This is why you have Flytampa at the very top. Balanced quality/detail/performance. Anyone can do only one of those, but only few can balance all ;)
