FS9/FSX/iPhone/iPad. Today while doing my usual browsing for FS news to update you guys and gals, I stumbled across what I feel is by far the coolest application to use with my simulator. If you are like me, on most days I just don't have time to just sit and fly.
So normally I'll go through the rigors of preflight, takeoff and climb then go do whatever else I need to do. Maybe I have to clean the house, or want to watch a movie, or eat dinner. The fact that I have to keep checking my computer monitor every 10 minutes to check my position is always a hassle.
Well now for us iPhone and iPad users, there is an answer. Now some of you may already know about RemoteFlight thus this little review is for those who aren't aware of it or on the fence about getting it. I am not sure how long these products have been available but I am glad I came across them today.
Now I can happily monitor my aircraft, import flight plans, (extra fee) and even control the aircraft via autopilot functions (separate app)live in real time from my iPhone from anywhere in my house via my Wi-Fi network. I won't get into too much of how it works but just to say it works! And it takes less than 5 minutes to set up.
I set up a quick YouTube video so you can see it in action here. I am also considering creating an AirDailyX YouTube page for some future video reviews. We'll see…
You can find more information from the RemoteFlight website and check it out for yourself. I'll also be getting in touch with the developer about their future plans.
Cheers!
