Whats the deal?

FSX. Can we assume the PMDG beta processes are going smoothly...? It sure is a 777 load of beta testers on-board all of which i'm sure are having a different experience. This means feedback. A LOT of feedback. Thus the question remains, will the PMDG-777 meet the August deadline of scrimmage? Unless you are on the inside, it's all dark out here. Sure you can speculate, even the beta testers themselves can speculate. In fact, only the folks at the top of the totem pole actually see the bigger picture. Only they see the different levels of feedback pouring up from across the globe. The individual beta drones only see what's in front of them.. or in front of their peers through cross communication. So we all wait... and wait... Here is the latest vid posted today.

I'm sure it will be a must-buy, but let's face it, I think this "beta" stage is being looked more as a marketing tool more than anything else.

Myself, from all the videos and screens I admit I'm getting tired of it. In fact, the NGS seems a more interesting airplane to fly. And I really don't see any breakthrough in this 777 that will set it above their previous product. The NGX was a game changer. The 777? Well...

Could not have said it better myself...thanks PF

Agree 100% marketing..why?
They took FrogglePete as an beta tester, although his airliners knowledge is very limited & sometimes pure wrong!
Then they made this Luke a beta tester, after only hanging at their's forum for a year...a little irritating cocky kid with the loudest mouth & a fetish for posting as much as possible about nothing, he was also banned for 2 weeks from Avsim for using bad languge!
Certainly the standards for PMDG's beta testers has been lowered in favor for marketing...

It surely won't be as "breakthrough" as NGX, but according to the PMDG team there's some innovation involved. But honestly, what I'm sick of is the fact that they seem to be abusing their good position within the flightsim community by taking so long. And if they have as many developers as they claim to, AND they are truly having teams work on other projects, why can't they just keep the public eye on products that are currently on the market?? (after all, we're still waiting on NGX SP2, aren't we?) And then they get mad at people for being mad at them for announcing projects and then releasing them 3-5 years later.

No doubt I will get the 777X, I just wish PMDG did better PR. (and make faster use of the resources they claim to have)

I love the one post Luke did on the PMDG forums. He copy and pasted a few images and then added a price to the 777 page PMDG had put on their site.....now he is a BETA tester????

PMDG, "I have an idea, lets release the most anticipated aircraft for FSX when fall semester classes begin."

Very true PF. PMDG decided to make a highly advance plane, but leave out many of the features that make the plane what it is today......to me the last game changer was the Majestic Q400. Its a Turbo prop but it has everything above the NGX and when the Next version releases with the shared cockpit capabilities......i fear the PMDG T7 will be just another addon, hyped up by PMDG's previous release......the NGX.

The PMDG target demographic is actually much older than you think.

Maybe not the MOST anticipated aircraft for FSX... there are some other greats in development...

As to comments such as "PMDG is abusing their good position in the flightsim community by taking so long"... well that is absolute bull. If you have ever taken on any project, be it a commercial venture or not, the projected time frame is always going to be tentative, especially when you are dependent on input from others. The 787 is a classic example, as is the A380, to take two from the aviation industry, but I would not need to stop there. Also remember that we have made no investment in their development cycle, no pre-order. Some make it sound as though PMDG is laughing at us waiting to spend our money, deliberately holding back to torture the customer. Utter nonsense.

Furthermore, who are we as potential customers to decide who the developers select as beta testers? The comments here just sound like a bitter pill... perhaps you wanted to take part as well and were turned down? To say that someone they chose is unsuitable is downright insulting.I am sure that PMDG knows what they want in a beta tester. Attacking individual members of the team here is childish.
As to the wide beta we are now privvy to: of course it is a form of marketing tool. Nobody says you have to watch the videos or view the pictures. Interestingly enough, I have seen a lot of stuff I like so far, as well as picked up some interesting tips and information, particularly from the two longer videos that Kyle Rogers (Scandinavian13 at avsim) authored.
Why should every single release of theirs be "groundbreaking"? They were onto some great things when the NGX came out. It seems that they have consolidated on that and added a few new bits and bobs (though I won't want to use the time compression capability they have put into the Trip7 here).
If you have nothing nice to say or no constructive criticism of it, it is often best to say nothing at all. Simple whinging flame posts are always counterproductive and most often just a waste of forum/blog space...
No doubt I am going to get insulted and flamed for this, accused of being a PMDG fanboy (utter nonsense). So be it. What I have written here I feel had to be written...

Unlike the NGX with the HUGS and Terrain mode, there's no new 'killer app' for the 777. There's no EFB, no WX radar, no word on the taxi camera for the -300, TAC is a bit of an unknown, and no big ancillary services/programs. (e.g. an iOS/Android app or 'minigames')

There are some cool features though, like adaptive time compression and integrated electronic checklists. (Although PSS already simulated that that many years ago)

Its the LNAV and VNAV like with the NGX. I cant belive it after they say every tester can also say negative stuff... A few of the tester are kiddys who i know from div. forums. The have visual problems too. And problems came up with Active Sky and REX.

I only wish I'd bet against everyone's expectations for delivery dates...so far, every prediction has been wrong. Looks like little Timmy may have to wait until Christmas, MUUUWAAAAHAHAHA! :)

You wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift/elevator with one of these selected fanboys, though would you?? Come on, admit it.

the lack of patience of some people is so hilariously amusing..please keep it up...

its not like there is nothing else available right this moment that can make the wait more "bearable" even having to say that is kinda sad

while PMDG certainly are a top notch devleoper they're not the only ones out there...and some people REALLY need to understand the concepts of patience

pretty sure they release it when they deem it good enough..and as a reminder: PMDG do not owe you SHIT...any of you! its at THEIR discretion and theirs alone...deal with it

You clearly do not pay much attention. The T7 was thoroughly tested by many T7 pilots before the plane went into a wide beta. The wide beta is not about how it flies or all its systems but about how it works on a magnitude of different computers with a magnitude of different end users. Just because you havnt seen it does not mean it has not happened.

I dont think it's a PR. If it's a PR, i'd fire my PR guy on a moments notice. Because i see an addon which is worse in FPS, worse than CS one, flies like a brick. I didnt see anything else.

If it's a PR, i would give it to Jerdoo or some other dude who's famous for youtube videos or someone who has powerful hardware to handle both 777 and simulation itself along with other stuff such as REX etc.

Flying like brick over default airports with 15FPS doesnt sound like PR to me.

Cheers

No one gives a crap what experience you have. The beta testers are there to test bugs, and you don't need a flying career to do that.

Stop tooting your own horn and get off your high horse.

Half of these comments are just whines in disguise.
You will get the plane when it releases. Life existed before PMDG, and it will exist after.
Find something else to do with your days.

Yet you accept another anonymous comment bashing someone from the team. Yeah, you need to learn to stick to your own rules - bunch of cunts. Go cry somewhere else. We all know you'll be first in line to buy- deal with it.

Ouch Mr. Anonymous. I think ill let this one through so everyone can see just how foul a person you are. So far, this is the worst I have seen.

The soul of AVSIM is so strong with this one.

May the force of cuntism be with you.

Dont know what videos you have been watching - the ones by Froogle show the T7 running at 40fps locked WHILST live streaming. That performance kicks the crap out of the NGX and the CS nonsense

Jeez, good thing most profanities are four letter words. Makes them easier for absent minded children like you to spell. Good job, here's a cookie, now go back to your Xbox little fella'. Getting closer to Christmas, don't want to be on the bad list with all the killer FSX addons due out by then.

You are totally wrong. Customers are customers, first law in business. PMDG can do whatever they want but need to be more humble. Today they are state of the art, but on a new X-Plane / P3P new paradigm, they might struggle. You never know.

If customers demand more communication, they should be on top of it.

This is business, and applies to PMDG or any other company.

So stop arguing about this.

Thanks
