FTXGlobal & FlightBeam!

FSX/P3D. There have been many concerns regarding compatibility between FSX Global and the thousands of third party payware airports available around the world. Today, John Venema has displayed the full compatibility results with FTX Global and PHX/IAD/SFO airports from FlightBeam. Looks great! These are the results you get when 2 separate companies work together for a common goal. I hope more companies will follow suite for good compatibility with FTX Global.

Woah, it's smooth! (KIAD especially)

Absolutely brilliant screen shots. I cannot wait for FTX Global to come out. It is going to revolutionize how we define flight simulation. I still cannot understand how so many people have been so skeptical, and unsupportive of the most detailed and realistic add-on arguably since the PMDG NGX. This is an incredible year for flight simulation.

So... Where's everyone saying that FTX Global was going to be horrible and destroy all airport compatibility?

Or are they just going to quietly slink away until they reappear in the near future with more ignorance and misunderstanding of FS development :)

I kind of wish Orbx would break this out by continent to save on hard drive space. My only reservation about buying this is the size of the file of of course performance.

It's the same size as default FSX textures, you could zip up the backup textures or move them to another drive if you find where they're stored.

Performance? Eh. Same texture sizes as default, maybe more autogen? Their autogen is more efficient than FSX so that could help

Yes, it's great to be optimistic. There are literally hundreds of add-on airports, so just because one developer appears to be cooperating with Orbx, doesn't mean others will too.

I think destroying is a bit of a strong word. If you would care to look at Orbx Scotland and UK2000's Edinburgh airport, you will see that the fit is far less favourable, and this is without FTX Global, but with even more higher quality scenery.

And is UK2000 working with Orbx to fix this? Your guess is as good as mine.

I am with you Skyhawk on having concerns with regard to performance. The initial videos we have seen are encouraging, but I personally would like to see on with the NGX at a complex airport. That would be a fantastic indicator of performance. Either that or a side by side comparison of FTXG and GEX.

I I am going to use default when flying into phx not smooth at all other airports look good though

Are you a beta tester sir?

SFO & PHX don't look like they blend that great. Orbs are just luck these airports work okay, others I'm sure will suck.
