PMDG shaken things up!

FSX. Yeah, yeah we were off on our projected release date...  Sheesh... In a big move today, Precision Manuals Design Group has unleashed a tidal wave of information regarding the current status of the 777-200LR/F virtual cockpit. This aircraft is likely to be the most sought after bird since the NGX. Many were not pleased with the CS variant and choose to hold out. Well, it looks like your patience is paying off for damn sure! Besides, this is the closest many of you will EVER come to actually flying the 777 so might as be as real as possible right? Damn right! After all, this is PMDG baby, these guys wrote the book of realistic flight simulation!

Now he said the plane was almost ready...

I can't wait for release (whenever it is)!

Looks like it may be closer than we think? Either way it will be well worth the wait! Now I'm off to mop up the drool.

Looks amazing!
But why the front and side windows on the cockpit are missing?

Nothing to see here said...

Cockpit windows are fully transparent in PMDG aircraft.

C'mon someone please do a PMDG/Captainsim screenshot comparison!

And RSR said: "Oh... yeah.... when will it be finished? It practically is."

Looks a bit meh, CS really nailed the VC imo... PMDG will of course nail the systems and everything else perfectly, but CS do have that 'eye' for virtual cockpits that only Sibwings have come close too

Not sure if serious...

Why? I don't need it to know which one is better :-)

I'm talking about the graphics, Captainsim is well known for the eye candy of their addons so the quality of the VC textures/modelling should be comparable with PMDG.

PMDG uses the official Boeing blueprints AND take photos of the actual real world airplane (777 and NGX). Not sure about Captain Sim.

Yes!! Only a year more!!

Yes this is very true. I have a love hate relationship with my CS addons for this very reason...

I hope we get it within July.

The images of the 777 are awesome.

@DAndre: Can you tell me pleae what you mean with the relationship to the CS addons?

I don't own one of them and what does the CS has what the PMDG don't?

Well Thomas, as said above, the CS models come with a lot of eye candy and toy features that PMDG doesn't really focus on.

With CS, if you compare the 777 flightdeck to the PMDG, without a doubt the CS looks much better texture wise.

CaptainSim focuses more time on eyecandy features than they do on systems. And PMDG spends much more time on systems, much, much more time on systems. Looks are secondary priority which as we all know, systems are more important than looks for many simmers.

Some features I prefer on the CS models for example are the VC textures. Whereas the PMDG textures look more similar to Level-D which have more of a newish and somewhat bland look...

Although, the NGX is the best looking out there hands down.

Also CS puts focus on features many think are stupid like the ability to enter the lavatory or the fully automated electronic seat positioning. Crap like that. More clickable crap which I personally enjoy to play with on long flights.

So whereas the CS aircraft look much better in my opinion and actually have more clickable eyecandy features, they typically come full of bugs that never get worked and can be a bitch to fly systems wise. Their flight dynamics are very good though.

So love/hate...

I'll also add, the texture differences between the CS and PMDG 777's are not so great that would make the CS more desirable in my opinion though...

Thank you for your great description.

I will wait to the PMDG release.

The 777 is not so important that I'll buy the CS, PSS and Wilco 777 only to fly one :D

I'm not buying PMDG unless I can flush the toilet in the virtual lavatory.

No question is looks fantastic - but seems a bit pricey....

Wow, $165 million? That better come with a REAL 777, or two.

Wing flex?

For $165 million? I'd bloody well hope so!

In haven't seen any FS development (FSX, xPlane) yet which meets that 777 brown color tone at night nearly:

http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/5/6/7/1248765.jpg

They all leave the impression of extremely synthetic textures:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I8D7Qh5jEF8/Ucjz-yCs00I/AAAAAAAAYFg/-cHnMyxp-bY/s1600/PMDG_777_VC_10.jpg

So at least i'm not impressed by new shading PMDG had announced, also too much contrast. Seems to be a hard job to make this brown fit in currantly available simulation plattforms.

As long i have be waiting for my favourite aircraft, i was in the hope it will be looking better than the NGX, at the moment it doesn't.

I think there is a small amount of wing flex.

Just kidding. PMDG spends a lot of time and gets info from Boeing to make the wing flex as accurate as possbile.

It's the camera, must be the camera. PMDG is perfect!!!

jk....lol

Your's airliners.net photo is not a good comparison, it's edited.

This is going to be one awesome aircraft! I simply can't wait to get to grips with it and enjoy some long-haul.

B77L said...

feel free to post a reference picture that meets the teasers from pmdg on this point.

This will be my first PMDG purchase. I held off buying the ngx becausr it was too small for my taste.

Looks good.

I need a bit of clarification though - Did he mean ready as to release ready, or Beta testing ready ?

Thanks for your reply.
