Orbx FTX Global...From the Philippines

FSX/P3D. Well, Orbx FTX Global previews are certainly starting to pick up as we get closer and closer to the developers projected June 15, 2013 release date. This time, Iain Emms has posted some shots from the Philippines in conjunction with FSGenesis world terrain mesh. Looks good to me! Take a look inside, what do you think?

Looking good!

I'd love to see some shots from Africa though...

I thought the last photo is from Paris! :-)

Doesn't look anything like Philippines to me. These generic textures, new or not, only changes the default textures and nothing else. No big deal for a resident of Philippines. Personally, not a game changer for me.

Looks too European for it to be Philippines.

Having never been to the Philippines, I have no idea what it "should" look like...

My vague memories of films involving the region, I thought the hills should be darker (the forestation)... that city has a rather European feel to it, as someone noted earlier...

Definitely not Philippines. The mountain texture and city looks way way way off. Not gonna waste my money on another default-colored base texture that's for sure.

This is too ambitious and requires too much work for it to be called "global".

I am sure everyone will be buying it but honestly, why name it global if it doesn't look nothing to the real world? They did an awesome job with the other areas but I am hoping they make my geographical area like PNW but this preview shows that it won't.

Textures all look vector-styled and generic as the above person stated. If only they could at least make it look photorealistic to show some real life semblance. Such a shame to put too much effort into it and I will be one of those not buying. Of course the die-hard orbx fans will buy it regardless as evident in their kiddie excitement at their forum...lol

Regardless of criticism made it sure looks better than my default FSX ground scenery.

Yeah, but is it worth it paying? Blue print looks better than default but will you buy it?

Well.. I hope they make the Philippines a FTX Region in the future. Now THAT would be awesome.

That looks too much like the French Alps in the summer. Don't look like Philippines to me.

I am from Philippines and I am insulted, to be honest. Those pictures not my country. It is like a foreigner trying to sell ice to an Eskimo in Alaska or Canada. Not impressed at all.

I certainly won't, especially at the price they want for it. I might consider it for 1/3 the price they are asking, at best.

This is not one of their beautiful and highly detailed regions. Sorry, but I just don't see that big an improvement from default. This is an add-on for other add-ons, but has the price as if it included all those add-ons.

Not quite right that they post all these promo shots consisting of multiple other add-ons. Not hard to understand either, since there would little or no hype if customers saw what this looks like on its own.

This looks really promising. Living in the Midwestern Us, I'm really curious to know what the boring farm fields of Ohio, Indiana, and (gulp) Iowa will look like from 7500ft

I don't get how everyone is upset. Of course it wont look exactly like the Philippines. FSX landclass is very general. It probably has the same texture call outs for almost all of Asia. FS global replaces all FSX default textures. It's not going to work miracles. It is still limited by the original FS landclass and texture distribution. for me the fact that everything looks "plausible" and its cheaper than GEX makes this a must buy

It always comes down to the question, "Do you want real world or plausible world?" But, if it looks nothing like the area it is supposed to represent, even in plausible world, then you are unlikely to want it. Why pay the asking price for no improvement in the direction you wish?
It was a similar response when OrbX EU England cam out. Many appeared disappointed that they couldn't see towns and villages as in Google Earth and so on... The areas of urbanisation not matching up with the vector road maps and so on...

"It's not going to work miracles." BINGO! Why dress up the default texture with another color and charge for it at a ridiculous price? If you are blind-sided by poor taste then we can't help you're enthusiasm, can we.

I'm from the Philippines (born) and it is nothing like Phils to me. Not saying it has to look real but it is nowhere close. I'd like to see pics of NAIA Airport and hope it's as crowded as it should be.
