Real World. I recently came across a very interesting video on YouTube about this topic. In essence, a long time flight simulator pilot without any real world hours and zero flight instruction made a bet that he could safely takeoff and land a Cessna 172 the first time around. The flight was video recorded with an experienced CFI ready to take the controls if needed. Could you takeoff and land a real Cessna 172??? More inside...
Personally, I'd like to believe I could manage this flight although I have no doubt it would be an extremely difficult experience, regardless...I would love the opportunity to try...

I did it few years ago with my friend who is an instructor before I got my license.
I already had a lot of experience with some payware Carenado's stuff.
Controlling real aircraft for the first time was an unforgettable experience, not comparable with PC-game of course, but principals were similar - I can proudly say that my approach was less shaky than in the video - maybe I had better weather conditions!
I personally believe that for simmers it would be easier to land a larger jet (including programming the whole approach etc.) than a small Cessna. I think that C152 would be even harder for a simmer.
great video - he did really well!
Great to watch, the whole story...
I have to admit I was a little surprised at how "wobbly" he was on final approach...
Not that I have "loads" of real time myself, but I have taken off in a Warrior and Cessna 172 two or three times, and landed a Cessna twice. We were a lot more stable on final in both cases.
