So.....I Found Australia......

FSX. So, after many years of flight simulation, I finally found Australia... Well, not so much found Australia but finally decided to venture south of the equator - Orbx Cairns to be specific. Took the challenging Alabeo Gee Bee out for some test flying this morning, something a little bit different for me. Boy, have I been missing out, beautiful stuff down under! Helps me forget about my cold Canadian winters just a bit. Take a look at some screenshots from my mini epiphany this morning...

Note: These shots do not represent a review or product suggestion, just my experiences this morning. Just thought I'd share...

i noticed your distant texture are realy sharp what is your setting on your fsx.CFG file

awesome...you'll have trouble leaving the area. I've found that Nz orbx is not as vibrant as Aussie country.

I just use the default CFG file with the exception of HIGHMEMFIX=1. Most tweaks cause too many side effects in my experience.

Nicely composed!

Awesome shots! Funny thing, I bought the whole Orbx Aus SP4 pack a few days ago. Grew tired of the Rockies believe it or not. Wow! what a nice place for VFR flying AND some coast-to-coast tube flying. You should get Ant's Aussie Airports pack, it might be the best freeware airports/scenery out there. Gonna do some barrier reef sightseeing later tonight. BTW, how is that Alabeo Gee Bee handling wise and in other aspects beside the visuals? I've been very tempted to purchase it but I've been a little hesitant to if it's all eye-candy or not. A2A has spoiled me in this regard with the P47 and the Cub.

Hi Andreas,

Personally, I love the Gee Bee although it did take some time to grow on me. The systems are obviously very simply and the visuals are of course excellent. It’s very touchy and quite difficult to fly, especially landing given the poor forward visibility - need good sideslip technique and stable hands. However, these attributes are very likely consistent with the real aircraft. I really enjoy the challenge of flying the Gee Bee and am having great fun with it!

@Mark

I guess I can live with "simple" systems if it handles somewhat like the real thing, might have to acquire it...after I've recovered from this months FSX payware spending spray that is *sigh* ;). Thanks a lot for the input, especially as there is no review to be found on the plane so far.

Cool pictures there... I haven't got around to reinstalling the OrbX AU stuff, I have pretty much every single package they released... Probably going to need a new SSD soon!

Great pictures ... Australia is definitely one of my favourite areas to fly in. I think I read on the ORBX forums that the same developer is currently working on another aussie airport
