One Shot - FSLabs Airbus!

FSX. There hasn't been much from Flight Sim Labs lately regarding their upcoming Airbus narrowbody project. Well, here's a quick one for you, a British Airways Airbus 320 to be exact. The external model looks very good indeed. Going to be lots of choice out there, which Airbus will you choose? See the latest shot and some older previews inside.

While I look forward to the project, their screenshot editing really annoys me, as it's not even very good and makes it very hard to tell how it actually looks in FSX. I mean, it doesn't even look characteristic of a real photo in terms of the colors they ruined. And without being over picky, that tail/APU area looks a bit strange IMO.

Anonymous said...

WTF is up with the tailcone? It's like double the length of the real one? Did they even bother looking at photos of the real A320 and compare them to their model?

Anonymous said...

Well, their modelling doesn't seem to be the best... :S Hopefully their system will be a lot better...

In the picture you linked to, you can still see quite a bit of obvious length discrepancy as well as the fact the curvature is wrong. And having worked around A319s and A320s nearly everyday for the past 3 years, I can honestly say it does not look right. So before calling people idiots, perhaps you should double check your own reference.

Comparing some Airliners.net shots with FSLabs BA screens I have to agree there could be a slight discrepancy between the real bus and the FSlabs model. No big deal to correct it. Matter of a few hours for a designer I guess.

No project is perfect. But its always good to listen to the community for feedback. So far though, its very clear the project has much promose!

Personally, all these discussions on the proper angle position or not of a virtual aircraft that is - by the way - still a work in progress - are futile on my opinion.
Yes Airdailyx is still a free place, for as long as we will be granted to keep it...

That's a change compared with some aircrafts designers forums..

There were a few comments that got through that maybe should not have. But ulitimately, we do allow the community to be heard. I dont want this place to turn into Avsim where there is so much sensorship everybody becomes afraid to speak. But I did delete the previous comment and I appologize about that.

Wait..you're okay with this guy calling everyone here idiots but the post above that (I think it was the one) originally called him out on his childishness gets removed?

Just seen this on a German FS Forum. Compare the tailcones and you'll see the difference:

Additionally the Union Flag is by far to low. Just saying!

It was the poor choice of words used in that comment that started the flaiming in the first place. Feel free to speak your mind but dont be downright disrespectful. Your comment to me was respectful, the other was trolling. We allow a lot of freedom here. More than anywhere else in the FS community. But blantant disrespect is just not fair...

I'm sure here are a lot of devs or testers from BBS,Aerosoft that just try to critisize Flightsim labs. I find the FSL's model very accurate, good looking and I really hope the systems will reach that level too.

Keep up the good work

I think the point is being missed about the presentation by AirDailyX and FSLabs. The aircraft is still under development and the main focus of FSLabs is to create the most realistic A-320 available. This aircraft is on a level of quality that PMDG established in FS. Airbus is much more advanced then a Boeing developed during the time and it’s been a nightmare for any developer to come close to the real aircraft in FS. When you look at the Airbus and the tremendous systems that operate the plane you can only confirm it was ahead of it time when introduced in the mid 1980’s. The A-320 really established technological advancements that have been a standard for newer generation aircraft moving forward. For the FS developer to replicate the A-320 is no easy task. In a virtual sense they are re-creating the real systems that operate the real A-320 for us FS users to enjoy. Before criticisms are made perhaps we all should wait until the aircraft is released. They did a tremendous job in creating the Concorde X and the only criticism made about the plane is the difficulties in flying the plane. I do look forward to this Airbus and believe it will open the door for FSLabs creating the whole Airbus family. It’s funny in a sense when you really look at it. Here you have PMDG creating Boeing and McDonald Douglas planes and FSLabs creating Concorde and Airbus. I think we now have the virtual giants Airbus vs Boeing happening in Flight Simulator.

Now I understand why some developers dont give too many previews of work in progress. Comments like this is the crap of open internet forums

In case the moderators of this blog have ever wondered why there's so much censorship on AVSIM... use these comments as a reference LOL. It's nice that you want to have an open community where people speak their mind, and I respect that, but unfortunately - this is what happens. People complaining about a tailcone? Seriously? Livery not exactly correct? Again, are you people serious? This is WIP, and there's probably A LOT of progress left. Note to those commenting, this is why developers don't bother posting previews!

DAndre Newman said...

You are very correct. Most pilots refused to fly the 320 series back in the 80's due to it's advanced systems and side stick control. Before that, everything was either MD or Boeing. No one could ever imagine being able to fly one at their desk. This aircraft will get a proper and fair review just like all other products we spend time with.

This looks nice but I'm still very happy with my AirbusX! I have now moved on and want something else... like a A330...

I wish we could have more variety this is getting boring

Hang on.... did the developer of the FSlabs A320 just call us idiots that dont know the real plane? well my reply to you is you do not know who you speak with here, think about that next time before you call us idiots

QUOTE:
"I'm sure here are a lot of devs or testers from BBS,Aerosoft that just try to critisize Flightsim labs."

I find this to be quite an accusation !!!

I´m one of the Aerosoft Airbus X devs....

The customer group we target and the one FSLabs targets are not the same, so what purpose should such actions have if I might ask ?

The FS community is only a small niche and so is the group of developement teams and publishes.
FSLabs and Aerosoft has som close relations and I guess that this isn´t different between other devs and publishers.

So please stop this kind of conspiracy thinking.

best regards and happy Easter.

AVSIM moderates depending on which developer it is, ones that has paid its AVSIM fees or ones that have not paid their AVSIM fees get differing moderation

Perhaps you guys didnt know that eh?

I agree, I feel insulted, if this is in fact the developer of the FSlabs aircraft...forget it sweetheart, no sale from me

DAndre Newman said...

It was anonomus so lets not pass judgment on the developer.

The A320 was introduced in 1988, the 737 NGX ten years later in 1998, so to say that the A320 is more advanced seems a bit odd. PMDG is busy with the 777 that United intoduced in 1995, again several years later than the A329.

While I agree that the A320 is complex, I wouldn't label it as more advanced. A side stick and different approach to automation and systems don't put it above the 737 and 777. If anything, the A320 had quite a high accident rate at the beginning, partly due to over-computerization of some systems and not giving pilots a quick and easy way take control to deal with systems in an emergency.

Looks awesome! Just one question I've been wondering about; Will there be wingflex? Yes or no?

It is evident that there is a lack of fairness and emotional distance nowadays in the "generation youtube/blog/smartphone".

Why do we communicate this way and when there is criticism, is it always bad per se?

Is it really necessary to phrase that aggressive: "WTF is up with..." , "You're an idiot...", or "...this whole place is full of idiots...".

Maybe it is an exhausting process to teach people again how to communicate in a civil manner. But it is worth a try as it is better than censorship in my opinion.

By the way. When I comment about a product or criticise something I do it because I really like it and not to harm the developer.

Wow, we are a passionate group aren't we. For all those who choose personal attacks, really. maybe all our new world toys keep us from connecting on a personal level, but there is no need for this kind of behavior.
Back on track, as always, the pics are always a work in progress and until the model is released.

Well guys, after all that excitement, I'll see you back here for the next fslabs a320 screenshot in 3 months. Maybe see a release by year-end. Elephants gestate quicker than this.

And yet, you haven't even started on yours yet... Rolls my eyes....

Finn-

I concur.

We at FSLabs have the greatest respect for our fellow developers.

We've stated this many times in our forums (where we actually delete any such conspiracy theory posts as our fuse tends to be very short that way) and we will continue to support each other (and also enjoy a beer or three whenever we see each other in various conferences) as that's the only way we'll keep this hobby alive and thriving.

Hope that helps a bit.

In my opinion, Aerosoft Airbus X Extended developers, should first fix their own LNAV that is critically broken (no radial interception, no DME arcs)-(only RNAV procedures work), and then put FS-Labs in their mouth.
