FTX Global - New 3D Lighting System!

FSX/P3D. Orbx has implemented a new 3D lighting system for FTX Global. So what's the big deal...well, the new lighting system causes absolutely no impact on FPS! This advancement should significantly improve user performance, especially in dense urban areas! Hopefully this technology can be implemented into older Orbx releases as well. More information and some screenshots inside.

John Venema states the following in regards to the new 3D lighting system:

------------------------------------------------------------------
"After some R&D we have implemented a new 3D lighting system for FTX Global which does not impact FPS at all. We have tested with 500, 1,000, 5,000 and even 10,000 lights per square kilometre and there is ZERO frame rate loss!"
------------------------------------------------------------------

Now take a look at some preview shots of the new 3D lighting system. Keep in mind, these shots are only using several hundred lights per sq. km - the actual release will increase this 10x.

If it's possible it'd be wonderfull to individualize the appearance of night-lighting from this yellow one to a more white/bright one:

We have five different colours for this system, if you look carefully you'll see streets with blue and white lights and also orange and yellow. We will also implement green/red stop lights at intersections and massed brake lights for cars as well.

Didn't UT do this 5 years ago? After Orbx England, i'm bored of their same old products. The shots above could be from 5 years ago. Nothing special.

The new thing are not the lights, but that they have (apparently) zero effect on performance - this would be something revolutionary. Have you used the UT-Lights? They are very heavy on FPS....

Just recently sacked the UT. Badly outdated and OOM happy. I'm ready for the FTX Global. Even considering wiping out the FSX and start fresh.

Are the lights connected to the autogen sliders? Because it would be nice to crank up the number of lights to a maximum and reduce the amount of buildings. When you have really dark night ground textures it is possible to fly even the most complex PMDG planes into complex sceneries, have stunning visuals and still use Vox ATC without problems.

Thx for your response.

Is it also possible to generalise a "world" set of lights via menu,eg. if i don't like the yellow ones to let them shine all white. I don't care of red/green traffic lights cause i fly predominantly IFR at night, but city lights which i can adjust myself, i'd prefer more.

And another question:

Is it possible to adjust the lights per square kilometre via menu?

Would these 3D lights be shown in real 3D(with depth) when using NVIDIA 3D vision in DX10 mode? Thanks in advance for a reply.
