Dom's rig : new graphic card

[Hardware]. Just a short post to inform you that i have just given up my ATI HD6570 for a Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GTX650 TI OC. New sceneries will be tested with this graphic card.

Why this one ?

- Limited power supply on my HP H8-1121 (450 W).
- Did not want to spend more than 150 euros / 190 US $.
- Wanted 2048MB.
- Only requires One 6-pin PCI connector.

Time to install : 25/35 minutes.

I had to make a lot of space to insert this new card twice as longer than the ATI HD6570.
2 wires from the motherboard have been unplugged to insert the new card and replugged.

The ATI HD6570 was a bad choice but for different reasons, i wanted to buy a HP standard rig and pre-configured. Definitely not the right choice if you want the best FSX configurations...
See the size difference between the old one and the new one ?!

Now, what about performances ?

After three hours of flight tests, i am experiencing improvements on all windows switching (external views) and a slightly better "refreshing" time on my virtual cockpits. The framerate has possibly gained 2 or 3 frames per seconde but this is tricky and we know that performances in FSX are mainly driven by the CPU.
The next step will be to configure Nvidia Inspector. The last one is the 1.9.7.0 beta. More tests later..

Thanks !

The GTX 650 is a very bad choice! You should have gone with a used GTX 580, it has a memory bus width of 384 bits and is way better for FSX and Prepar3D. Probably cheaper too to get a GTX 580!

I agree, the GTX 650 is really not recommended at all. Here is an interesting FSX performance guide I found:
