The impossible flight ?

[Cinema]. Yes, FLIGHT Bob Zemeckis movie is probably not the best tribute to real aviation. And this "inverted" position has raised many remarks and attacks. By if you have watched Mayday, you know that the technical issue has some good historical sources...

About FLIGHT :

R. Zemeckis has apparently stated that the movie was based on a true story, the Alaska Airlines accident in 2000 but Zemeckis has only taken some of the facts.

Trim fatigue (like in the movie) has been encountered by AA 261 :

But in my opinion, the movie could be a reference of the "famous" rudder failure as well :
The structure failure has resulted in a cascade of accidents : three aircrafts were involved : the UA 585, the UAir 427 and the EA 517.

Don't miss this famoud Mayday episode "Hidden Danger" :

The mechanical cause of the crash in the movie was the same exact aircraft and cause of Alaska Airlines Flight 261's fate. Minus those winglets used in the film.

I will be watching the Oscars tonight to see if it gets the award.

Don't know why you'd want to watch a bunch of dudes named Oscar...

I liked that movie - great cinema. I'm somehow identifying myself with main character too - Vatsim flight without few beers is not so funny.

As I watched the movie all I could think about was AS261. They did a great job on the NTSB Animations and bringing a large amount of reality into it.

The movie is Ok as long as you see it as fiction, however totally unrealistic...a heavy junkie/alcoholic Captain would never make it on a day to day airline job....

Agree. I wanted entertainment, not professionalism and I was not disappointed. 7/10 in my opinion.

Yes I would. They are all naked and gold! I also like watching celebs feel them up!

Agree with Richard.

I liked the movie too.
This farm, owned by Whip Whitaker's grand father reminds me of Orbx farms and old hangars. And of course, i imagined a happy end and Whip flying again on this good old Cessna. It would have been too easy, though. Zemeckis is really good.

I thought the movie was terrible. If you want a great and realistic airline film watch "the pilot" from the mid 70's. A great film about a line pilot...
