Midi-Pyrenees Photo HD VOL.1 released!

FSX. FranceVFR has just released their latest high-res photo-work of Midi-Pyrenees Photo HD vol-1. Now as Dom mentioned earlier, there is a trees package you can download for it but honestly, in my opinion, the days of photo sceneries are nearing an end. People want autogen. No matter how good things look from the sky, things need to look good on the ground as well. Personally, FTX Global. That's what's on my mind.

Now available from FranceVFR and other FS web shops.

Totally agree!

The world is not a flat place and you definitely won't stay at FL360 forever...

Any problems placing autogen on photo sceneries? For vector landclass enthusiasts there is... X-Plane! But it also supports photo sceneries with autogen... There are no problems placing autogen on photo sceneries, there are even programs (scripts) which do that fully automatic. They are not perfect but you have buildings and trees. In my opinion there is nothing better to make flights realistic than photo sceneries. When you compare your FS flights to the reality, there is no way to learn VFR routes from vector landclass sceneries while you can do that from photo sceneries. This is why I don't think FTX Global is anything more than a very good earning device of ORBX. This is just my opinion for now. I would be totally happy if the quality of this product will be so good that it will bring us a realistically looking world.

Yep, FTX Global is what I am waiting for...

I think photo scenery with some autogen is great. Far more realistic than the likes of what ORBX produce.

I think ORBX and photo scenery with autogen are about the same visually IMO, as ORBX use photo reference to create their tiles and place them to the best of my knowledge. That said, what does annoy me a little with ORBX is that there are areas where the landclass transitions are a bit to abrupt. But because it is landclass based, I find ORBX loads faster and the image quality is generally sharper than most photoreal sceneries, therefore I will continue to prefer ORBX.

FTX Global? Only if somebody likes artificial landscapes and incaccuracy of default landclass.

FTX Global is not intended to be nearly as accurate or detailed as one of their regions. They've said themselves it is intended only as a landclass texture replacement with some mods to problematic areas of landclass tiles. It will provide a much more realistic base than default for areas where no other good photoreal or landclass vector sceneries exist.

I will agree the most realistic looking way to do scenery is a photoreal base with autogen. However, a lot of photo scenery products only focus on daytime summer textures and have no night textures and no other seasons.

Vector landclass such as ORBX sceneries isn't 100% perfect, but I find it, depending on exactly where you are flying, 70-90% accurate. And with a landclass-based scenery, you get seasonal and night textures, something you don't get with a lot of photoreal sceneries.

There's a lot of the world not covered by either. I personally prefer ORBX product at this time for the reasons that they are usually at least fairly accurate, they still look good overall, they've got autogen, they've got night textures, they've got seasonal textures, and all of their current regional product cover areas that don't have a really outstanding photoreal alternative.

I do hope photoreal sceneries with autogen, night, and seasons become more common though, but there are so few scenery developers that do large scenery areas, I fear that won't happen anytime soon.

So true - although I have everything of ORBX (except England) FTX Global will be nothing compared to HQ-Photosceneryy WITH autogen.

It`s really sad that FVFR is not releasing some more sceneries with autogen as they did with Normandy.

Okay let me say this. FVFR is by far the best in the industry when it comes to photo scenery, hands down. In fact, i'd say they pioneered the technique back in FS9. To date, France is the best looking region in the whole of FS9.

But in FSX, ORBX takes the cake with the PNW type sceneries.

The only thing that I find to be the most superior work in the whole of flight simulation is FranceVFR's Houte Normandie and Alsace products with their 3D automation technology which is just amazing, and incredibly accurate.

So I just don't understand why they are not expanding this 3D Automation further. All they are concerned with developing for is France and this is where they will loose this potential to ORBX whom will soon cover the world. So if it's between FVFR's accurate but boring photowork with no autogen and ORBX's slightly inaccurate but realistic FTX. I'll choose FTX a thousand times over.

I agree with you. If it's only a photo scenery, I'll take FTX. If only there were more devs doing what FVFR has done with Haute Normandie and Alsace with photo scenery and 3D automation for other parts of the world.
