Prepar3D V2.0 Dynamic Shadows

FSX/P3D. One of the most highly respected FSX/P3D developers, Mir, from Flightbeam Studios has just put a 90 sec. video up on YouTube to demonstrate just how cool the new dynamic shadows are in the upcoming P3D 2.0. This really looks spectacular!

Looks great! Does anyone know if P3D v.2 supports dynamic scenery lighting (meaning the airport's lights will light up my plane)?

Love the credits, escpecially the statement about licensing. Would love to see a debate on this between Flightbeam and PMDG

More info on this will be released this week.

It's nice to see all these videos and pictures with all the new bells and whistles from Prepar3D but the only thing I personally like to know before I even consider getting a "license" is, how is the performance on a 2013 PC? How is the performance compared to FSX? Because if this thing runs like a dog (like FSX) on a 6-core 4,2GHz PC, 8GB RAM and a gtx 660 o/c 2GB PC then what's the point of getting it? I play both FSX and X-Plane 10 atm and the biggest difference between the two is that when I throw better hardware at them, X-Plane is the only one showing noticeable performance gains from that better hardware. So, yeah, looking forward to an un-biased in-depth article on Prepar3D and all the performance gains they made when they ripped out the guts of FSX and put them back in again, sorry if that sounded a little too graphic :D.

That's the plan Andreas. And so it doesn't sound bias in any way, I will be seeking reviewers as well.

That's a really neat GIF animation you have there, great way to show off the shadows from your headline :-)

Awesome! I eagerly await the article :D.

Fantastic

I asked the same question, and apparently this is being considered (likely to be implemented) in a later release, as in 2.1 or 2.2.

That is freaking 'awesim' :) I dearly hope my quad core can handle it. And speaking of shadows, I saw cloud shadows mentioned somewhere as being a possibility. Been hoping for that for ages. And please LM, check out Rise of Flight for the blue, atmospheric haze on the horizon.

Maybe this will encourage FS Dreamteam to patch CYVR to give us a more memory friendly Vancouver International Airport, since they will be able to nix their now superfluous Dynamic Shadows Technology.
