Comparison - Orbx FTX Global vs. ADX

FSX/P3D. Out of interest, I thought I would select one capture from the recent Orbx FTX Global Los Angeles preview set and try to replicate in my own sim. Obviously, my attempt is not an exact match, however, it does provide some insight into the differences between default and FTX Global. Obviously, opinions will vary but I think FTX Global looks more refined and generally nicer - and not just because of the ENB colouring. Take it as you will and see inside.

Definitely an improvement, which is the goal of this product, not to create a full-detail region as some people think.

I'm glad they've made the autogen and ground textures much darker, as you would expect them to look in real life, always thought that was an annoyance with the default set, coloring is way to bright in default, IMO.

A definite difference but would need to see a more direct comparison without ENB and the other enhancements they are making to their screenshots for a true comparison.

How successful FTX Global will be depend mainly on how well will blend with the existing third-party add-ons.... and how many FPS are sacrificed. Just my opinion.

They've said before, there is no FPS hit over the default scenery. All they are doing is replacing autogen and ground textures.

I can't se much improvement. Slightly better trees prehaps.

There is an improvement, sure.
Enough to justify the price? hmmmm....

does anyone know what bloom effects the orbx guys using ?

I know JV has posted his personal ENB, not sure if Iain (who took the Orbx shot) is using the same.

Blending of existing airports will vary, although I tried Aerosoft Nice Cote Dazur and it looked perfect - http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/58811-ftx-global-with-final-truelandscape-france-as-nice-cote-dazur-etc/

But YMMV depending on how light their ground textures are. Generally if they only add photoreal close to the airport boundaries they should blend fine.

As for FPS, there's a slight hit because our autogen is much denser, but all our testing is with Extremely Dense autogen and testers are saying FPS is great.

Ditto this comment.

Although; FTX organizes the autogen much better than the Default FSX sporatic layout, I would like to compare apples for apples without the added application of Enb to observe what we get out of the box.

Thanks you for stretching my point.

In would rather depend on their good marketing!

Looks nearly the same besides the obvious ENB series activated... It's all eye candy

Not sure how to respond to this... The only reason why FTX Global's trees are darker is because he's using ENB series. If you used ENB series with ADX, it'd look basically the same as the FTX Global picture up top

Yes, but autogen is by far, the biggest fps eater in FSX.

Anonymous said...

No it wouldn't.

As somebody who cannot wait for this, could all the people moaning and bithcin just rack off?, if you dont like it PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT

I don't know how you can use FSX without ENB. It's dull and lifeless without it. Nice comparison shot though. I always thought default urban looked sterile. Global really gives it more realism.

Why don't you guys just post a default shot with ENB series, that ought to settle it.

Use of any such tool as ENB is going to polarize the market. I do believe they should be using no tools at all to enhance the appearance of products unduly in terms of marketing, but it is their call...
Autogen placement is massively improved in FTXG when viewing the comparison, the difference there is almost night and day. It is a almost a revolutionary product, in so far as it will be the only product with worldwide coverage. GEX products improve the general appearance of the regions they have covered so far, but no where near to this extent in my eyes... going to be a hard one to ignore this simply...

Geesh....anyone who can hardly tell a difference seriously needs to have his eyes checked. I get the impression that they're just trolling. I also don't understand why people continue to bring up ENB, as if that's what made it better. It is a lot(!) more than just ENB, just compare the two images: way better looking building, much better looking trees, much sharper and more detailed ground textures, better placement of trees, etc etc. Seriously...it looks way better.
