I am really starting to believe that these products from BBS is a tactical way of getting attention. By releasing updates every other day, AirDaily will also promote their work.
I agree ! Free advertising....
I'll go get some popcorn....
Doesn't change the fact they released an incomplete and far too inadequate product in the first place. By inadequate I mean, that's not just my personal opinion, it seems to be the opinion of 90% of the people who have posted on BBS A330-related posts here at ADX.
And here's the kicker...it's still incomplete. I agree with the above, it's an attention-grabbing scheme. Hey, if they learned from Captain Sim, maybe tomorrow they'll announce one or two more ambitious, but never to be completed projects too!
I guess none of any developers group but PMDG and Flightsim Labs can make a very good acft.
We really hear you guys. But unless we start getting negative feedback from actual paying customers, we will continue to provide product information on this as we do for all FS products. Besides, I have not internally heard any bad feedback from my 2 partners who have it on their systems. I dont have it installed as i dont fly heavies in FSX. At least not yet...
From someone who has actually tested this aircraft, it has potential... No, it's not in the same league as the NGX, but if we disregarded anything that didn’t match up to PMDG quality, well, you get the idea…
No one said that, so don't take it out of context. But the fact is they did release an incomplete aircraft. It's even their in the product TITLE, A330 V0.61! 0.61 means BETA! It's the same garbage that Captain Sim continues to pull. Does it have potential? Sure it does. But this releasing of paid betas is a horrible way of getting a product out there. But no, incomplete products generally can't stand up to PMDG, I'll give you that. Complete products however, can, or at least have that potential. If it's BBS's ambition to get there, they need to reevaluate, if not, they can keep releasing garbage if that makes them happy. Either way, I didn't waste money on it and Aerosoft or FSL WILL fulfill the need of an A330 in a better way than BBS has with this trash.
LOL!
People accusing this aircraft of being incomplete, congratulations, you've figured out what 0.61 means. Of course it's incomplete. However, that does NOT mean it is inadequate. I consider myself a hardcore simmer. I study manuals. I know obscure details of aircraft not many people care to understand. I dislike Captain Sim. But I like BBS. I do feel $45 is a lot for a beta, but I don't think the idea of a paid beta is a bad idea at all. It allows a company who are not in an industry known for receiving investor money continue to refine their product and make a living, while at the same time collecting real-time feedback that might actually speed up development time entirely - If you don't know how that could work, I can't help you. Bottom line is, this is a decent add-on so far. The flight sim community can be pretty harsh on some devs, and that is appropriate considering there are some horrible products out there. That is why I just felt the need to comment here and defend this company a little from naysayers who probably haven't even bought the a330. And also to defend DAndre. He's already stated he is posting updates from BBS merely because his traffic metrics are showing a good number of page views, not because he is biased about this product. There is interest in this aircraft, just look at their Facebook page
It's 2013. I think people do care a little bit more about the visuals now-adays. It kind of doesn't help that the aircraft has all kind of systems aviable if the whole bird looks like shit, and vice versa. You see what addons that is a success, the addons which has both a well done visual model, and a realistic system.
The problem with paid betas is that the more people buy them, the less incentive there is for the developers to actually finish the product. After all they already have your money and there's no practical way you can get a refund. Captainsim gets away with this all the time, which is why I only buy their simpler 'steam gauge' aircraft, mostly during the 9.99EUR sales.
There is a correct way of doing this though, have a look at Aerosoft and the Airbus X. Developers should start with a product which has basic functionality but polish it well to create a bug-free, user-friendly experience. Only after you get that out the door should you consider moving up the complexity chain. The key is to get some cashflow going without having to rely on the customers to do the beta testing for you, because you can easily lose your customers and goodwill that way through unfulfilled expectations, which will be very high if they're paying full price.
Excellent analysis. There is only two types of reactions nowadays. Overexited or overcritical.
blackbox is bad and they should feel bad.
I dont think Airdayx is biased but did you miss this AXE coverage as well or omitted it?
