Every now and then I drift off FS news to share other stuff. So, imagine you are on a boat lost at sea. The last thing you would think whilst stranded in the Pacific ocean that would save your life is a Boeing777 swooping out of 37,000 to 4,000 just to look for your sorry butt?
Dude used a hand mirror to get the plane's attention.
Yup, it just happens.
This sort of thing just never happens to me... :(

it has happened before with a DC10 rescuing a cessna:

I get that but this was no aircraft related incident. This was some dude that drifted off into the ocean on his boat what no means of having the ability to get back. The use of a fully loaded 777 full of passengers to look for a guy drifting on his boat is too funny to me. I am glad he is safe though. And he has a very good 'beer' story.
"So I drifted off on my boat when WHOOSH here comes this 777..."
And others say aviation is only about business.. Great airmanship!

the worst part is that the crew was already flying for 12 hours, and they had their flight further delayed, and risk of running out of reserve fuel.
