Well, Dusseldorf is the 20th european in passengers. Stockholm (22th), Brussels (24th) and Lisboa (29th) were Mega airports too. That sounds logical. And Dusseldorf is the third German airport ! Best Dom
It may not be a "mega airport" in the classical sense. But there is something special about this airport compared to others. It is located close to the city and river. Especially during the night the approach is amazing.
