Captain's B-777 VC : first impressions

FSX. With the new updates experimental XX (.200 and .201), Captain Sim is opening the way to a first hardcore B-777 in FSX history. PSS version was great in FS2004 but in FSX, Wilco version was a joke and recent Overland version was a mid-core aircraft without navigational full capability. So it's up to this team now.

The external model has been released a few months ago. Now it's the virtual cockpits turn.

Okay, i made some zooms on  the virtual cockpit to give you a better idea of the quality. This is a the kind of old dirty cockpit i like. And i am pretty shure that Captain Sim partly based their work (textures i mean) on PMDG NGX dirty design. After all, the triple seven has been launched 17 years ago...

From what i checked, more than 95 % of the cockpit is active or is intended to be in the final version.
First thing to know when you buy this version is that the download file has not been updated to SP 0.201 yet. In the .200 version, the station morse, for instance, was active, and was really boring. So you need to install the last update yourself.
From what i tried, from Seattle KSEA, the aircraft can take-off, turn and land manually. You can manage an auto/throttle take/off from the A/T button on the MCP but you can barely keep the aircraft level. Even if you enter a route, it cannot follow a waypoint. The MCP is still a mess but manually, well, yes,  you can fly it and even land it smoothly in an airport.
However, we can say this :
* In the FMC, a lot of pages are already functional ; Perf, Legs, Prog and DEP/ARR, since there is an active airac (March 2012).
* Lights systems seem fully operational. The dome light is working fine, all glass-screens can be tuned (although, external lights are still unoperative).

* Almost all the 2D panels can be displayed, including the Electronic Flight bag but not the FMC.

* Almost all  the buttons of the overhead and pedestal are clickable.

* * * *
! Remember that the editor has explained that this is still an experimental version,
mostly dedicated to those who want to beta test and improve the aircraft.

Very nice pearly and ivory textures

A lot of texts are perfectly readable.

Okay, the MCP in still a mess and we will need to wait for the
next update. The A/P button is not working. I can't turn the aircraft from the heading button neither. Did you try ? Any solution ?

95 % of buttons will be operative in the final version.

Thanks Captain Sim. Eager to try the next updates !

The MD11X and the 737 NGX redefined the term hardcore. The newer products of CS offer a visually nice and "fairly accurate VC", in most cases a cabin and a "fairly accurate exterior model". On my CS aircraft I don't have any kind of sophisticated interior lighting (no separate instrument back ligting). The products are neither bad nor will they ever be hardcore. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you. For shure, Captain sim cannot reach PMDG's aircrafts. But the team desserve our support. I am curious to see what they can achieve this time, specially with the navigational simulation.

The CS 777 will be the "iFly" of the 777s. It will be fairly good but not as good as the PMDG product.

Any team releasing a half-baked beta for money and then getting those to act as beta testers does not deserve my support. I remember all too well the debacle about Airsimmer.
I am no PMDG fanboy, but I will be waiting for their versions of this aircraft to see the light of day before I purchase any FS 777.
To those with the time and inclination to pay in order to work for free, all the best to you and have fun at least.
