Eiresim Luton : Hot test

FS9 and FSX. A challenger in UK2000's backyard. One of the most european simmers favorite airport in UK. The last scenery from Eiresim ?

EIRESIM  LUTON AIRPORT EGGW

Version tested : Luton for FSX V.1.0 (without 3D cluter option)
The cluter option add a lot of static objects and trucks.
Installation : very easy (but i didn't like the new folder created in Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\).
(personally, i got a few misplaced houses from defaut autogen on a road. I sent an email to support but this can come from my installation. At the beginning i didn't see the underpass and this has been automatically fixed on the next FSX launch...)
Manual : 15 pages. Good explanations to optimize the scenery.
Framerate : with usual "old" quad core 2,33 Ghz, ATI H5850, 8 MB and 1 screen 1240x 1024x32
11 fps with all FSX settings max
14 fps with autogen, AI traffic and some other settings at average.
(All these tests done on the PMDG NGX.)

So Luton. This is probably the last Eiresim scenery before a long time, unless Terry (who found a full time job) has maybe think about some new organisation. I don't think he will close it but the next project is going to be quite slow. Lets wait for a clear statement on this.

As this is a U-K airport, it's interesting to compare it to UK 2000 airports. On the first look, i would say that ground textures are quite more impressive but in the opposite some buildings/hangars front textures are not always reaching Gary's work. But hey, comparisons are tricky. Luton is a great scenery and some buildings like Monarch are just fabulous with tiny grains textures. It's also a difficult airport with hundred of hangars and a lot of them have complex geometries.

The bad :

* I would have appreciated 2 or 3 static aircrafts with real liveries.

The good :

* Great ground textures on runway and around it.

* Underpass modelization. It would not have been the same without it.

* Great Quality/Price/Framerate ratio.

These screenshots have been taken with
ATI H5850 best quality settings.
High definition ground textures with relief details

Great textures around the airfield. Probably 10/15 cm/pixel.

More ground textures.

It took three weeks to Terry Smith to develop this underpass.
Aircrafts are taxiing over it all the time to join the runway.

Ah, the typical england airport terminals...

The runway 08 approach

Like in UK2000 sceneries, hundreds of cars parked.

And Alicante and Kork from Eiresim are top notch sceneries, too.
