[BtoB] First half year : complete market zoom

We have now full datas on the first half year and july. Scenery production is growing. FS9 platform resists.

FS9/FSX Scenery production : 1st half year 2010 versus 1st half year 2011 :

1st quarter 2010 : We counted 4 products for FS9 only, 12 products for FSX only and 15 for both versions
2nd quarter 2010 : We counted 2 products for FS9 only, 12 products for FSX only and 8 for both versions.
Total Half-year : 6 for FS9, 24 for FSX and 23 for both versions.

1st quarter 2011 : We count 4 products for FS9 only, 14 products for FSX only and 8 for both versions.
2nd quarter 2011 : We count 10 products for FS9 only, 14 products for FSX only and 15 for both versions.
Total Half-year : 14 for FS9, 28 for FSX and 23 for both versions.

Conclusion ?
Of course, we are just analysing some part of total production (see protocol below).
* This is just the first half year but FS9 sceneries are resisting rather well. And this resistance is not to the detriment of FSX. Production for FSX only is also raising.
* The real good news is that the overal scenery production is raising too :
53 sceneries in the first half year 2010 and 65 sceneries this time. That's a 22,6 % raise

Now July 2011/2010 :

In July 2010, we had 1 products for FS9 only, 4 products for FSX only and 4 for both versions.
In July 2011, we had 2 products for FS9 only, 6 products for FSX only and 5 for both versions.

Same trend here : Scenery production is growing, from 9 products in July 2010 to 13, last month.

Protocol :
This short study is limited to payware (15 € and more), is based on sceneries released on Simmarket (who gives precise release dates). We add Orbx and FSDT products. (It's only about payware and scenery-airports or detailed ground textures. There are no mesh).
We would like to add Simaddons and Earth Sim sceneries as soon as they can mention a release date on their products.

"And this resistance is not to the detriment of FSX."
But of course you cannot say this, because you can never know how many more FSX products would have been created if there was no time wasted on FS9 products. I have worked for software companies my whole professional life. Though none made FlightSim addons, we had the same philosophy: Don't waste time developing products for customers who are not spending money on upgraded hardware as they are too cheap to worry about. If I had my own FlightSim addon company I would not spend a red cent on FS9 development because in two years the product will stop selling completely and I will have missed FSX possibilities in the meantime.
