FSX(and possibly FS9). In respons to Los Angeles FS9 requests, Umberto Colapicchioni has posted interesting screenshots today showing us some FS9/FSX textures differences. 2 more pictures of KLAX.
I just think the average user doesn't care about specular and bump mapping. No one spends their time with their face up against walls and glass. We sit in aircraft and taxi around and hardly notice it. I really sometimes think this move to ultra high detail is pointless.
You are welcome to go back to Flight Simulator 95. It has extremely good performance now. The rest of us clearly do care about specular and bump mapping, and on some level, you do to or you wouldn't be reading an article about the amazing work FSDT has done on LAX that will ONLY work on the best FSim software on Earth: FSX.

FSDT are very arrogant.
Funny because the Flightbeam terminal looks best to me. KLAX looks like its over using the cheesy bumpmaps & shinny stuff.
Orbx stuff from 2 years ago look 10 times better still...

I love FSX & hate FS9, but I couldn't care less about bump & specular textures. The picture above looks like a step backwards to me.
So, if you don't care about bumps and speculars, what are your expectations from a great scenery? what would you like to see on it?
