T2G MCO release imminent!

FSX/P3D. Cloud9 did a great job of it all those years ago and BluePrintuisgdfg did a whack job at it a short time after. Many were hoping FSDT would go back and redo it but they showed no interest. Then attention shifted to FlyTampa after the successful release of Tampa. Sadly, it seemed no high quality developers would take on MCO. We'll not only has Taxi2Gate risen to the challenge they are delivering a level of quality that is damn near on par with FlyTampa and FSDT. This just might be their highest quality product to date and guess what? Release is now imminent! Besides this and Oslo, will we see any other mega airports before years end?

MSE 2.0 Ultra-Res Cities: Pittsburgh Released!

FSX/P3D. PC Aviator has released MegaSceneryEarth Ultra-Res Cities Pittsburgh photoreal scenery for all those flatlanders out there. You get around 5,000 square miles of 50cm resolution scenery covering the whole Pittsburgh Terminal Area Chart coverage area. That's a lot of detail! This Ultra-Res scenery is fully compatible with MSE Pennsylvania.

Razbam Metroliner Beta 0.2: Our own screenshots!

FSX. It seems that one of the most anticipated releases of 2013 has turned out to be one of the more unsual: The Razbam Metroliner III.  Why is it unusual?  For starters, the development path alone hasn't been straight forward having been initiated by one developer before being turned over to Razbam for completion.  Beyond that, as development has gone on perhaps a little longer than first imagined, Razbam has released a public beta version as an incentive to pre-order.  Now in its second (v0.2) beta version one could hardly say it is fair to review the Metroliner but it certainly warrants a close look as a preview of things to come.

ISAFJORDUR X FSX released!

FSX. MSK Productions released Isafjordur X, a rendition Ísafjörður Airport (IATA: IFJ, ICAO: BIIS) with complete photoreal ground coverage for the airport and surroundings. While the airport itself features custom buildings, volumetric grass and voumetric shadows on all airport buildings, the entire area features dense autogen including the near by town, dynamic elements like birds as well seasonal changes. Isafjordur has a difficult approach over a near by mountains when landing east on the single 08/26 1400x30m runway. All in all, it looks like a great addition to Iceland which is really a fantastic place to fly in FSX.

Skysoft Simulation Panzhihua Bao'anying

FS9, Skysoft Simulation has announced they have almost completed their new project of Panzhihua Bao'anying Airport based in the Sichuan Province.

Razbam Metroliner has even more tricks up its sleeve!

FSX. Interestingly enough, the fact that today we saw the first preview of the cargo model or 'Expediter' it was slightly overshadowed by the way Razbam broke the news of their latest bit of eye candy- prop tip vortices. I have a feeling that pictures aren't doing this justice as seeing them in full dynamic motion is probably much better but it still looks pretty cool. I am glad they didn't over do the transparency or lack there of but I do hope that it is somewhat environmentally triggered like the now standard wing tip vortices we see.

Milviz King Air 350i PROGRESS!!!!

FSX. YES, YES, YES!!! Breath, man, breath! Okay.....I'm excited about this, if you couldn't tell. Milviz has finally posted some new King Air pics...not many, and they are night shots, but new stuff none-the-less. Ohh, I can't wait for the Collins Pro Line 21 goodness. It looks fantastic, and that cockpit lighting is a sweet thang.

Aerosoft Mega Airport Dublin new shots!

FSX. More news today from Aerosoft, some new screenshots of the upcoming Mega Airport Dublin. We first heard about this way back in '12, so to still see new progress is encouraging. Still very much a WIP as shown with the ground textures, but the structures are looking good. Another updated destination for my BA fleet to fly to....now I just need the Aerosoft A319/318 to make my little virtual world one step closer to complete. And a good Shannon, too. And....well, I guess it never ends, does it?

Aerosoft Sahara Desert Fly-In Released!

FSX. Aerosoft has released the Sahara Desert Fly-In add-on scenery developed by Franz Luftfahrt. This new scenery is located in the western Africa nation of Mauritania and has around 150 square miles of area for you to explore. Along with the upgraded desert and added points of interest, they have thrown in 3 new missions for your enjoyment. Aerosoft is calling this an interactive "Infotainment scenery" and from the screenies it looks like it is going to be an interesting and fun place to play.

QualityWings Ultimate 146 Collection: Our own screenshots!

FSX. Join Captain Hoffen as he takes a close look at the now complete QualityWings Ultimate 146 Collection. We were waiting with growing anticipation as the QualityWings team put the finishing touches on the rest of the aircraft in this package, and some were starting to wonder if they would ever get done. Well, they showed up a few weeks ago and if you haven't taken the plunge, stay with us for the overdue ADX review of these amazing airliners.

ORBX RV-4 with some trick paint!

KTldN.jpg
FSX. Some new previews popped up of some of the creative paint work going into the ORBX Vans RV-4.  There is some awesome use of spec maps going on here or something because Jared over at ORBX pulled off a very convincing metalic purple flake paint. This is definitely one of the best metalic paints I've seen in FS!

Aerobridge Studios Hong Kong looking good!

XPL. Aerobridge has just revealed some images of their HD ground texturing for Hong Kong (VHHH) and it is rather stunning!  Scenery developers continue to impress as they advance the quality possible with texturing and modeling.  What I really like about what Aerobridge has done here is the 'pallet' of the textures, meaning the color, saturation and contrast.  They have done a great job with the saturation and contrast in my opinion.  Also of note is how many good airports are just out or in the pipeline for the middle and far east!  As mentioned, the 777 drivers will have plenty of places to check into and of great quality too.  Until then, enjoy the shots of Aerobridge's work including the hand painted shadows!

ADX Exclusive: joerlend Oslo!

FSX/P3D. As we near the end of 2013, I think back to all the amazing releases we had this year. When all listed, it's hard to think that our hobby could be dying in any way. It's been an absolutely amazing year packed with awesome addons. With less than 2 months left, 2013 still has some goodies up it's sleeve. One of them being the fully reworked Oslo Gardermoen from joerlend. Could this be the last mega airport release before years end? The developer is indeed aiming for release before the Christmas tree lights up. And in case anyone is wondering, along with other current and new projects in the works, Jo is indeed returning to Trondheim for another spiffy remake! In the mean time, he has been very kind to shoot over some exclusive shots to help hold ADX fans over. Really great work here. Enjoy!

Majestic Q400 PRO edition - fly with your friends!

FSX. Work continues on the next evolution of the Majestic Q400 - The PRO edition.  The Pro edition is slated to include 2D panels, a HGS (heads up guidance system), TCS, greater system depth with a customizable failure system and a shared cockpit facility.  It also appears that fixes and upgrades are still continuing on the Pilot edition as well.  Majestic says that the Pro edition is still in the development/testing phase but the question is: will you be upgrading when the time comes?

QualityWings Ulitimate 787 update!

FSX/P3D. As I am nice and settled into my Sunday afternoon nap, I get startled by my iPhone which starts going crazy. Friends texting me, ADX readers Facebook messaging, and emailing... What's going on?? Turns out, QualityWings has some pretty big news. Thanks to all of you for waking me up for this. Always a pleasure. Corey of QWSim has provided a status update on the Ultimate 787 stating the entire crew is back to work on the aircraft after the release of the 146. There is no definitive release date but the team assures us things are progressing. Here are a few things we can expect. This aircraft will be much more systems complex than previous QW releases but will still be friendly for the non hardcore simmer. Both 787-8 and -9 will be included and with the exception of less than 10 switches in the flightdeck, all switches, buttons, handles will have interface. Lastly, a shot with those massive LCD's active! Thanks again to everyone for the tipoff! Here is the full statement.
Also look for Captain Hoffen's QW146 review shortly on deck!

ActiveSky Next interface!

FSX. The newest evolution in the ActiveSky series is probably my most eagerly awaited release on the horizon and we now have some interface images from the beta to show.  Some of the features being mentioned are pretty mind blowing- things like in cloud detection which enables ASN to know when you are in a cloud and reduce visibility and add icing and/or turbulence accordingly.  Sounds like truly dynamic weather 'depiction' finally!

Alabeo Robinson R66. Our own screenshots!

P3D. Of the 4 aircraft Alabeo released this year, (it is 4 right?) 2 out of that 4 are among my personal top 10 aircraft I received this year. Those would be the Model D17 and the just released R66. I'd also add the Waco to that list as I picked up that aircraft early this year during a fire sale, but that aircraft was actually released last year. I'll admit, as excited as I was about the visuals of the R66 during production, I was a bit concerned about the FDE and handling characteristics given the fact that this is the very first whirlybird out of the Alabeo/Carenado world. After spending an entire day with the R66, I must say, damn good job there. Come along with me as we put the R66 through her paces and discover why Alabeo is the next Nemeth! Say what? I'll explain... Let's go!

Contrails Simulations Queen Alia Int'l - Like!

FS9/FSX. No, seriously, go like this photo on Facebook.  Contrails is drumming up interest in their Queen Alia project and when enough people have liked the photo they are promising to reveal the in-sim finished terminal.  The project is set for an initial FS9 release with a conversion to follow to make it fully FSX native afterward.

Updated: As promised, new previews released, see inside!

DA CRJ-700/900 by Christmas?

post-1-0-98423000-1378813295.png
FSX. Well, maybe.  Doing my best to not take anything out of context, Mathijs Kok of Aerosoft said it is a possibility but not to be disappointed if it doesn't happen and from what I gather it is not a specific target date. The point is, however, it is getting close to release now whether it makes it out by Christmas or not. The long awaited and much anticipated Digital Aviation CRJ has been in development for years now but with the way DA has gone it is amazing that this project is still alive...

Orbx Vans RV4 getting closer.

FSX/P3D. You know an Orbx product is getting closer to release when Ian starts off with the screenshots! And as always, pristine is a solid definition to describe them! The RV-4 is looking good and here are the latest shots!

ADX FirstLook: SIM720 Catalina!

P3D. We'll, what a very nice addon to arrive on the day of my birthday. Of all the popular paces in the world, Southern California is a region that has been overlooked time and again. With the exception of some excellent freeware addons, SoCali has been largely overlooked over the years. Cloud9 with LAX, FlyTampa with SAN, Shez with ONT and LGB, FSDT back with LAX and LatinVFR with their own updated rendition of SAN. All of the above is not even 1% of what Southern California has to offer. Needless to say, i'll take every little bit I can get. Aerosoft's US Cities LA is likely the biggest project ever created for the area in terms of scale and if you have it, you know what it offers. If you don't, there is one little reason why you might want to consider the purchase if you are going after Sim720's KAVX. Confusing? Come along! We are off to Catalina!
ADX>>2 UPDATES included at the bottom of the review.

Virtavia B-29 Superfortress. Our own screenshots!

FSX. Ever since I got seriously interested with aviation and flight sim, I found a particular interest in older planes, where back in the day technology wasn't as vast. For me, something about these old planes just 'works'. These days, most historic planes are out of service and are there to look at in museums. Hence, so we are unlikely to board a flying B-29 or a Stratocruiser. The B-29 is this most iconic aircraft, best known for throwing the atom bombs over Japan and bringing the war to an end. However, there are other interesting aspects in the B-29. Join ADX reader: Adi Sahar as he takes us on an exiting adventure of his first ADX review!

Greek Airports Project LGTS 2013!

FS9/FSX. These guys are still alive and kicking after all. I thought they had stopped developing sceneries but then again, i'll admit, I haven't been searching their site for new news. I know there was some animosity against FlyTampa when Athens was announced and after that, they seemed to go dark. But they are back with some nice looking shots of their upcoming updated rendition of Thessaloniki. I'll say this, their older 2006 version was kickass for it's day and it was a regular destination for me in FS9. The thing is though, one of my very favorite developers: FSDG is well into development on a high quality payware variant which leaves the question, will the GAP freeware arrive soon enough to hold me over for FSDG's version? Have a look!

Coolsky DC-9 Cargo Expansion.

Time to stock up on the visine! Coolsky has rolled out the DC-9 Freighter for those overnight package runners among us. As a former freight dawg, I have lived those bleary-eye approaches into the rising sun, fighting the urge to take a quick nap at the final approach fix........boy, those were the days. I always preferred cargo over passengers- the boxes complain a lot less if you have to divert. Although the packages do occasionally seep unidentifiable liquids same as the people. Anyway, You're not just getting a cargo paint job with this plane, but a completely remodeled hauler version. Coolsky has modeled the DC-9 freighter with the same high level of detail as the passenger version including the ultra high definition textures. Good to see the old Douglas smokers getting the love.

Carenado Phenom 100 in paint!

FSX/P3D. Carenado's first venture into the jet world is coming along well apparently as they show off their first screenshots of the bird wearing some fresh paint. I've personally not bought into many of Carenado's recent release being from the group that doesn't want all my GA aircraft shiny, new and full of G1000 screens but that's not a problem with this one and I am really looking forward to this one!

Kuala Lumpur terminal C

FSX. A_A Sceneries posted some new images of satellite terminal C as part of their Kuala Lumpur International project.  Of particular interest are the tunnels under the concourse, A380 gates for heavy fliers and my personal favorite- the courtyard complete with trees.  There is no shortage of good scenery coming our way in the near future and this one seems to be close indeed.

Fly to Guam... for free!

FSX. Morten van der Linden has released v3 of his Guam X scenery and not only does it look fantastic, it is absolutely free!  The scenery covers Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (IATA: GUM, ICAO: PGUM), and boasts some pretty impressive features like custom runway textures, detailed paint markings, custom buildings and plenty of foliage.  The details aren't just air side either as Morten included a detailed car park, access road and pick up/drop off lane.  If that weren't enough, the custom night lighting is top notch as well.  All in all, a lot of detail but no worries: Guam X is available in a lite version in the event you need to trim a little overhead to get those extra FPS.

Petitioning Microsoft to Hand Over the FSX/ESP/Prepar3d Entertainment License

FSX. If anyone is interested in signing a petition in an effort to encourage Microsoft to free up the Entertainment License to Lockheed Martin you may do so by clicking below. So far many of you are on-board with nearly 500 signatures at the time of this post. The current goal is 3,000. Let's also not forget, the FSX source code is currently up for sale. Check it out and drop your sig!

MilViz 407 - Just one shot but wow!

FSX/P3D. So one could make an argument that a solitary preview shot isn't much to write home about (or write a blog post about in this case). But when that one shot looks like this, it's a different story. I can throw in the standard disclaimer that I am not a helicopter fan- truth of the matter is that I am just horrible at flying them. Be that as it may, the upcoming Bell has already stoked the flames in the hearts of virtual rotor heads with the VC renders shown off as of late but this may take it to a whole new level!

TropicalSim Curacao 2013 released!

FSX/P3D. So sorry I have been behind on news for you all. The new AirDailyX website is progressing well and obviously, it's taking most of my time to meet the deadline. Thanks to Captain Hoffen, Rick, Ian, and to the readers that continuously email me about news releases. You guys are amazing and great for stepping in and assisting me in keeping the shop running. Even with the slow sluggy news lately, and us being slow getting the news posted, ADX still gets over 10,000 visits a day. I'm, sure you all will be impressed with the work on the new site. One release on my birthday was Catalina by Sim720, but I totally missed Curacao 2013 by my friends at TropicalSim. Be sure to head over to Simmarket and pick up a copy and i'll try my best to get a FirstLook in for you lot. Still a lot in the pipeline! Thanks to all for sticking with us during this busy transition!

MSE2.0 Portugal released!

FSX/P3D. Now fly the entire country of Portugal in spectacular photo-real detail - border to border. This is the first time the complete country of Portugal has been created in photoreal detail throughout. Portugal gives you over 35,655 square miles (92,345 square kilometers) of scenery to soar and explore as you make your way into and out of 41 airports. You get the entire country - border to border coverage. Some of the cities you'll get to enjoy as you explore Portugal include: Lisbon, Porto, Amadora, Braga, and Setubal! Check it out!

A2A Avro Anson released!

FSX. After the highly successful release of their Accusim C172 A2A has released their next aircraft the classic Avro Anson. Admittedly I don't really know much about this aircraft (kicking myself) But hey, head over to A2A and check it out!

MSE2.0 Ultra-Res Cities: New York Released!

FSX/P3D. Next up in the Ultra-Res Cities product line from Mega Scenery Earth is New York! You get around 7,000 square miles of NY and NJ all displayed at 50 cm per pixel! Head over to PC Aviator Australia and check it out!

...and back to NY

FSX/P3D. Drzewiecki shows off the latest shots of KCDW which is now on the finishing stages. Let's not forget, this project will also include LGA, EWR, TEB, and JFK. A huge project indeed! All expected to make it's way down the chimney next month if I am not mistaken. Great quality work. This project once complete will have airfields for both VFR and heavy fans.

More of Oslo taking shape!

FSX/P3D. Really looking forward to getting my hands on this one. Oslo is looking splendid indeed. As talented as this developer is and as much as I would like to see move on to developing more airports in the future, a small part of me says, go back and remake Trondheim Vaernes next. The updates work really shows the improvement in talent since the first version a couple years back. Great work.

Another clip from Airline2Sim

FSX/P3D. Airline2Sim have released another short clip showcasing the kind of content you can expect from their upcoming training video product.  This particular clip details some of the lighting quirks on the Q400.  The production of the Airline2Sim videos to date has been seriously impressive and should be an indication that the final product will be second to none!

More Metroliner progress!

FSX. Razbam continues to make good headway with their Metroliner.  Work seems to be progressing on several fronts with the texture work continuing nicely and, perhaps more notably, more of the avionics being revealed in recent days. I must say the bump mapping looks phenomenal on this bird!

Meanwhile in the cockpit...

ALABEO R66 TURBINE Released!!

FSX/P3D, Alabeo has announced that their R66 Turbine has been released.  This is the first helicopter Alabeo has created and it will be a nice addition to my virtual hangar.

Aerosoft AES 2.33 now available!

FS9/FSX. Oh yes! We just love AES and each release is like entering a candy store. This time Olivier has released a slew of new airports for you to enjoy. Some that were badly needed too! Have a look at what's included!

ADX Exclusive: T2G Orlando P2!

FSX/P3D. And we're back yet again with another look at the amazing Orlando project by Taxi2Gate. Each set of shots I see just keeps getting better and better. What a huge improvement for this team over the years and these shots sing praises in quality. As for performance, i'm quite confident if these guys can get the entire city of Mexico City running at 50FPS on my slug, I am sure we will have no worries here. But enough of my yammering. Thanks to the T2G team! On to the shots! Enjoy!

Ryan Navion released!

FSX/P3D. Here is a prime example of why I love ADX readers! As a daily 1 man show, it's not as easy as it used to be when it comes to sniffing out products that are flying under the radar. This is where you all come into play! Now for fans of the North American P-51 Mustang, you already know about this bird which has largely sat in the shadows of it's butt kicking WW2 brother. I am talking about the Ryan Navion. Wheras it did see active use it was really North American's attempt at entering the civilian market for after the war. Old as she may be, many are still flying today with modern avionics. Well here comes a very nice looking version for the sim and I am nothing short of impressed! Thanks to Sean Karges for the tipoff!
Updated>>Released!

Alabeo R66 imminent?

FSX. I'm not normally inclined to condone any kind of helicopter related activities......but after seeing the magic Alabeo is doing with the Robinson R66, I may have to rethink my distrust of these whirling agents of darkness. After all, I don't think flying one in FSX would kill me......but then again it is still an evil eggbeater, one can't be too careful. My whirlybird prejudice aside, this machine looks great! And, according to Alabeo's Facebook page, "COMING VERY SOON!!!"

ADX First Look: Orbx YBTH Bathurst

FSX. Here I am, Capt. Hoffen, back in Australia again, and I gotta say, I don't mind at all. Because, even though South Central Alaska is enjoying unseasonably warm weather this fall, It's still just barely climbing out of the 30's during the day. And that's not Celsius, my friends. So, having the opportunity to test out another Aussie airport from Orbx, I can at least bump up the thermostat and transport myself into the land down under for some warmer weather. Join me after the jump for an ADX First Look at Orbx's newest scenery area: Bathurst, New South Wales.

New progress on the Challenger!

FSX, New progress is made after a short break due to real life. Ozzman is started on the Virtual cockpit of this beautifull Canadair Challenger!

Mombasa in the make for FS9.

FS9. I just saw the post on the fsdeveloper forums that Albysim has started on their new scenery of Mombasa Kenya. Albysim is also busy with an remake of their scenery:" Santorini Big Scenery".

Not too much news...

Just a word that 5 ADX FirstLook articles are on the way shortly covering Sim720 Catalina and Caernarfon, Virtavia B-29, Orbx YBTH Bathurst, and the Just Flight DC-8! The new ADX website is going very well. Lots of work on my end but bear with us, we are on track!

Sunday, November 3, 2013

While I wasn't posting news over the weekend....

My dad treated me to a nice little Piper Arrow for my birthday. Flight is out of Riverside Muni. The weather was over 90F which created some really heavy thermal activity. If you listen closely enough, you will hear my wife scream as we drop and pull a G or 2. The active was 34 because of a 5kt crosswind out of the north but given our weight with 4 of us on board, we elected for 27 to make use of the longer runway. The second we were airborne you see me turning in as we fight the crosswind. I sat right seat as only the left had toe breaks. Lake Matthews, Elsinore, and Perris are in the distance. My landing is on a separate vid which i'll upload later. D'

PMDG 773 update!

FSX. Got a hundred and fifty million laying around? If so, soon PMDG will have the Boeing777-300 available for you to blow it all on! It's the offical PMDG 777-300ER Expansion Package and the product page is now live! Go have a look and thanks to Josh Fredr for the update!

UPDATE: Orbx YBTH Bathurst Airport Is here!

Iain has his last shots in over at the FTX forums, so we can expect this new Australian area to be available forthwith. Which will most definitely tickle my fancy. Tim Harris has done me and motorsports fans a huge solid by modeling the famous Mount Panorama race circuit as well as the Bathurst airport and surroundings. I wonder how fast I can lap the track in an Extra 300? I smell a challenge!
Update: Released!

Manila? Whoa! PacSim doing big things!!

FSX/P3D. Here we go again. When I say: "Keep your eyes on this developer..." you really should follow my advice. I said it about Taxi2Gate and LHSimulations over a year ago and I am saying it again for Pacific Islands Simulations. If you discovered Rarotonga then you already know what I am talking about! This time, the team is taking on Metro Manila and it's mega airport which is no easy feat. But based to the first shots, i'd say we are in for a real super treat! The quality is stellar so far. Cough, cough, keep your eyes on this developer. Cough... A big shout out to Maurice Kroll for the tipoff!
