Carenado Phenom!

FSX/P3D. So it looks like our previous guess was indeed spot-on! So for you Carenado propheadz, start working on your multi-engine jet time! I'm really excited to see Carenado enter their next faze of evolution and this is really a positive jump for the legendary team originally known for their pristine Cessnas. Check out these first renders!

Wilco makes the Phenom,
Carenado makes the TBm,

Wilco makes the TBM,
and Carenado makes... the Phenom !

Fascinating, Spock !

So, we now will have two Phenom 100 jets with lite systems modeling and a G1000 that is eye candy only. Why? I don't get it. This will be a pass for me.

The Phenom 300 would have been soooo much more interesting, looks-wise with the winglets, range wise, cruise speed wise, max altitude wise.....

Just a small FYI - Alabeo is a daugher company of Carenado.

LOL I cant believe there are people still buying flying empty boxes....Captain sim, Carenado, etc .... In FSX S stands for S.I.M.U.L.A.T.I.O.N. so a plane with nice textures doesn't make a good plane: We needs some systems modelled and not only 1 or 2 out of 100 systems....But thank god we have Rob Randazzo and PMDG who understand that....

DAndre Newman said...

And thank God not everyone thinks like you.

DAndre Newman said...

Because the Wilco version is pure crap.

DAndre Newman said...

Agreed, agreed, and agreed. Which is why I wonder just how native this model is...

I'll pass for sure. The glass cockpit will kill performance like every other glass Carenado release. They should stick with Cessna's... Somehow, I'm sure many people will blindly purchase and later complain about FPS issues and lack of systems accuracy.

We are 2 at least thinkin that way Mr COC! We want systems not only nice textures.......

VNAV off! :P

Mach2.02 said...

Oh, and the S stands for S.I.M.U.L.A.T.O.R. :)

Kindly elaborate, mister Newman.

Same here... I have been off the Carenado bandwagon for ages. I would sooner put my cash into those striving for all-round quality. They make nice 3D models, the textures make those models look good, but the substance, the S in simulation, that is REALLY lacking here...

Sure. Work is work. And whereas I am highly appreciative of developers like PMDG, I don't wan't every fucking airplane to be so damn realistic that it takes me 30 minutes of work before I can even start the engines.

At this point we really start to loose the fun of flying large aircraft. This is why many real world pilots have no interest in flight simulation.

They only see it as more work. I polled these guys so trust me. My last conversation was on the shuttle with a Virgin America captain a few weeks ago.

If "COC" had his way all aircraft would be like PMDG's standards and would alienate much of the simming population.

This is why I like developers like QualityWings or MilViz with the 737 or even CaptainSim for that matter.

Sometimes, I am just not in the mood for all the checklists and FMC entries calculating zero fuel weights etc. I do this with my real world job. I don't need it here at home all the time too.

Let's just get the darn thing off the ground and enjoy it with a reasonable amount of work.

So yes, I am glad everyone doesn't think like him to reiterate my statement.

But I do think developers should start to move into a middle ground too. Imagine if PMDG has options similar to the QualityWings 757.

Many more people would purchase it. Even with my Majestic Q400, as much as i love it, I may only get to fly it maybe once a month. Too much work with a family, job, other hobbies, and keeping this blog alive for you fine folks.

It's nice to still have that level of quality without the work given my limited time.

Yeah, can't wait to see the scenery forums riddled with PMDG T7 OOM complaints, trying to get them to change something so they can fly the thing, just like the NGX. If you want all the bells and whistles, you have to pay the Piper. Virtual memory is such a limited thing............

I can get my NGX off the ground and flying a complicated flight plan with SIDs and STARs, AI, weather injection, and 30 FPS in under 5 minutes. Your argument is a crutch, Mr. Newman. If all I wanted was pretty airplanes, I'd splatter my walls with posters from airliners.net. I don't like being cursed down to just because I strive to be and find the best in life. In the flight sim world, Carenado ain't it.

But I do really like your website. Thanks for your efforts.

DAndre Newman said...

In under 5 minutes huh? We'll that's very good for you! Glad you like the blog. You don't like the Carenado, don't buy it. Simple. And who cursed YOU down? Seems to me you are entering a conversation. You want the best in life? What does that have to do with you simulator? Is that your life?

Because it sure as hell ain't mine. just a hobby bro. Relax.

I think system nerds are nothing but a bunch of bratty whiners. They really do seem to think that everyone uses the sim as they do, or should do. Why don't you go fly your precious PMDG 2D panel and be done with it?? But no, they have to crap on anything that doesn't fit 'their' world. I am sick of it.

Back to the original topic, this is an interesting direction Carenado is taking. I like it.

Jarrad said...

Looks sensational, I'm really excited about this one :)

Todd said...

And having an eye-candy only jet with an eye candy G1000 isn't crap?

Todd said...

All I want is a fully functional G1000 with current AIRAC. I can get that thing ready to go in 5 minutes easy. Lite doesn't have to mean jet-porn only. Hell, I can upload a photo of a Phenom any day and admire how she looks.

Jack said...

Agreed, there seems to be a lack realization that not everyone chooses to fly the same way and they get upset and pissy when you tell them that and bring their overused "it's a simulator" argument.

As for me, I would like to see Carenado put some more advanced systems in as an option, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Carenado delivers a good enough product to keep me happy and entertained.

He must also be good at the Rubik's Cube, 'cos it takes me at least 30 secs to get Metar / ATIS to select the proper runway ;)

Although an unqualified statement (has there been a qualified and valid survey ever on fs users' real flight experience?), my gut feeling is that many flight simmers are not real-world pilots, a number of them yes, but by no means the majority.
D'Andre, I understand your argument well. For this "quick fix" I have bought different aircraft models. A2A Spitfire, Mustang and Cub are up and running in minutes, even with accusim, I just have to wait for the warm-up.
I can get the NGX from ground turn-around to taxi in around 15 minutes usually. The longest part is usually banging the flightplan together.
But you are right that is unfair and incorrect to expect everyone to step to the same beat. We all have different tastes, time available, funds...
The problem I find is that not voicing an opinion will never lead to change. The aircraft doesn't have to have all systems in every minute detail all the time (A2A's guns for example never fire... :) ). But I would like that to work as it would in the real world, transponders, radios, ASIs that calibrate properly and so on... Perhaps I am asking too much, but I am also prepared to pay for this.

As I said at the outset of my post, I doubt that so many FS users are real world pilots. As one of those non-pilots, I love to simulate flying to the best level of realism that is currently possible. I don't ever see me actually flying a Mustang in the real world (OK, I got to sit in Moonbeam McSwine on the ground at Duxford this year, which was pretty damned cool, but I don't really see me getting to fly one, now...)
Perhaps this is one of the reasons why a number of us strive for simulation depth of systems and accuracy, because we simply have no better than the cat in hell's chance of getting to push the buttons and twig the dials in the real world...
Perhaps I am frustrated LOL

Either way, it is not worth getting steamed or into a frenzy over... life is too short.

Cheers for the great blog! Unique and worth its weight in gold :)

Looks like Carenado is producing now every aircraft from the conveyor where they can use the always their G1000 adaptation in each aircraft (which is totaly useless with default GPS datas and functionality for professionals).

Not much work to do, of course. Easy and cheap to "produce", simple to sell : sorry guys, but no sale to me anymore with that.
