The official Flight1 B200 promo video!

FSX. This thing is actually looking quite good indeed! The video covers all the basic features the aircraft will be delivered with including the ability to load SID/STAR procedures with full Navgraph FMS AIRAC data, WAAS approach capable, full customization of VC lighting, dual ACFS and Garman G1000 autopilot, safe taxi and TCAS on the MFD and PFD, animated airframe icing on windshield and wing effects that can lead to serious  failures if not corrected, complete terrain/obstacle database... true simulation of prop beta range, damn I could go on and on. Check it out!

AutoRotationer said...

This really does look rather amazing!

The big question is, will this run in Prepar3D? If not, then I imagine that will be one of the biggest disappointments ever.

Pirx said...

This will be my KingAir.

HighFlyer said...

Sadly this will be FSX only! So yeah, while Carenado throws their eye-candy only aircraft at us with full FSX and Prepar3D compatibility, as do Aerosoft with their scenery, Flight1 will finally give us a great King Air simulation, but sadly this company is still living in the Stone Age when it comes to Prepar3d compatibility :-(

AutoRotationer said...

OMG...are you kidding, we finally get a decent King Air and then it's FSX only?????

DAndre Newman said...

If it aint FS9 or P3D I aint going near it... Dont care how good it is. Bummer its not for P3D.

HighFlyer said...

Yes, you can thank Jim Rhoads. He's the person directly responsible for this not being Prepar3D compatible.

It's just incredible how short-sighted some developers are. Here we have a platform that important developers like Aerosoft, Carenado, FS Dreamteam, Flightbeam, FlyTampa, Majestic Software, Orbx support and Flight1, who I consider an important flightsim developer too, completely ignore to support Prepar3D :-(

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I left Jim Rhoads, FSX and Flight 1's Mustang stuck in the past where they belong.

Todd said...

Flight 1 and PMDG both are big fails. Go ahead and stick with a 10 year old dying platform. I have other aircraft I can enjoy n P3D, like the upcoming MilViz King Airs.

AviatorMan said...

No P3D compatibility? - I don't expect that will be much of a problem. A plane of this quality will be enormously attractive to the very large remaining FSX customer base.

roger said...

FSX is the main platform...so their choice makes sense. if you go for P3D knowing that you'll be an outkast....then you have to deal with the consequences....sorry.

INFORMER said...

well yes release is right around the corner i think is quite true as you can now find it in the store whit text soonwhit a pice of $59.95

Jim Rhoads said...

While I appreciate being directly responsible for any decision related to P3D, I have to inform you that it is a Flight1 corporate policy decision based on the fact that we take the P3D EULA at face value and legal value. Others may not, but we do. So if you may tar and feather me for "our" corporate decision to abide by legal definition. I shall wear it.

No one said that there may not be a P3D version available at some date, but it will be a different product, just as P3D is and the willingness to purchase that product independently from FSX.

For those that choose to purchase the FSX King Air from us? You are in for quite a treat. And thank you in advance.

George Stavapolous said...

Hi Jim, is your King Air going to be DX10 compatible upon release?

HenryS said...

+1 LM could audit his licensees at any point

Anonymous said...

Jimbo, what urked me is that for one of your products that ran in P3D you updated it to then purposely break it in P3D. Just out of pure spite. If you are that bothered about what I do in the privacy of my own home, then pop round and choose what I'm having for dinner. P.S. Your DRM only fustrates us paying customers.

Daniel Berger - c't magazin said...

I am getting more and more frustrated with this hobby. On the one hand we have developers that offer great aircraft and scenery with Prepar3D compatibility, but not always DX10 compatibility in FSX, and some like Carenado with no in-depth systems simulation, and then we have these guys that tease us with a great looking plane and systems-depth, but no Prepar3D compatibility?

I don't understand why they cannot release two separate versions, one that is FSX only and one that is Prepar3D only? Why Jim Rhoads, who not offer both at the same time?

I do not understand how "we take the P3D EULA at face value and legal value" would prevent Flight1 from simultaneously releasing a Prepar3D only version? Please explain this, why is this not possible?

Jim Rhoads said...

I wonder argue about our policy.

We don't have a gun to anyone's head. If you have FSX and want the best King Air available, we have what you are looking for.

If you don't agree with us, you have my utmost respect and there will be likely other offerings that will be more what you are after.

Regards

We have been using Prepar3D and Orbx scenery with mainly the Cessna 172R + Baron 58 for an entry level course that introduces our students to basic flight instruments and systems. Orbx scenery lends itself well to this, particularly because one of our Australian bases is located in Jandakot.

Unfortunately there are not many companies that model advanced instruments and systems in Prepar3D aircraft to the level we require for our training course.

After a colleague showed me some information about the Flight1 King Air B200 last year, I have been following this development. We are particularly interested in the apparent very authentic G1000 modeling. I am very disappointed to now find out that there will be a restriction to FSX and no Prepar3D version.

Perhaps someone from Flight1 could get in touch with me.

AutoRotationer said...

So Jim, why not release both versions at the same time? Simple question really.

Anonymizer said...

The Flight1 product page states "Compatible with Acceleration Pack and DX10." at the very bottom:

http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=f1b200fsx

So maybe even if there is no Prepar3D, there at least is DX10 compatability.

Graeme said...

Damn, wish I'd saved my money recently now. I hadn't realised that this was so close to release. This is going to be a really sweet short field bird if it's the same as their other birds, complete with a realistic rendition of the G1000.

I must admit I do have P3D, but the various add-ons like this keep my coming back to FSX. :)

Jim, if Flight1 ever decide to make an allowance for any of these G1000 aircraft for P3D but need to charge the higher training rate ($240 is it?), just let me know, and I'll be saving my pennies and at your door step. Otherwise I'll be a sucker for an old girl with FSX for a while still ;)

Happy to see Flight1 coming back with a robust product everything that a simmer want in a simulation.
I hope they will develop also a multiplier version.
If they want develop they can

DAndre Newman said...

In my opinion Captain Leiw, aviation colleges are the primary byproduct for P3D. It's really sad that such hard efforts from the Flight1 developers that go into the realism are solely meant for entertainment purposes.

They don't even have to develop the aircraft for P3D but simply make the models P3D compatible and allow the user to decide which platform they wish to install the aircraft into...

We get the EULA red tape already. P3D is working with many FSX developers.

And in my opinion, Lockheed Martin is happy to allow the general FS community enjoy it, they just need to maintain their position and professionalism by means of being clear P3D is not a game.

Anonymizer said...

There is a company called Milviz that is working on a King Air 350i. I believe that they do support the Prepar3D platform. Perhaps this will be better suited to your needs:

http://www.fsxpage.com/previews/flugzeuge/milviz-super-king-air-350i/
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.455726994471681.110150.184784678232582&type=1

My experience with Jim Rhoads at Flight1 is that he is very rude at times and also totally uncooperative. Colin Pearson at Milviz seems the exact opposite and always open to suggestions. Good luck!

Jason Mableton said...

If you can release the i737 for Prepar3D, why not the B200:

http://www.flight1tech.com/Products/AircraftSimulations/737NGforPrepar3D.aspx

Why on earth would you not release a Prepar3D version at the same time? I cannot believe that in this day and age there are corporate people in this industry with such shortsightedness!

Martin Sutherland said...

Jim there seem to be very few people in flight simulation development companies that are capable of making an idiotic decision such as your unwillingness to make the King Air B200 available for Prepar3D.

Your argumentation about the Prepar3D is null and void, as you released the i737 for the Prepar3D platform, as stated above.

You must get some sadistic pleasure out of pissing off so many Prepar3D users with your incomprehensible decision.

Justin Simmerland said...

Jim Rhoads really does live up to his callsign:

Graeme said...

I got the impression with the 182 and Mustang that it was not so much the problem with the aircraft going across to Prepar3D, but more so the implications of the G1000 system and red tape involved with EULAs and ties with Flight1 Tech that deals with the corporate and training versions. Jim's talked about this on their forums though.

Anyway, the Mrs saw the look of sorrow on my face when I mentioned that I'd only just bought the twin otter and now discover this was coming out and couldn't get it, and I've been given special budget allowance ;) So yeah, living it up old school in FSX, but some fun none the less.

Honestly, comments like many above are a prime demonstration of the sorry state this hobby is in. Reading through them, some folks sound like a bunch of school children not getting their way and threatening to take their ball and go home.

Fine. Go. Please - And take your over-entitled, "it doesn't work with _my_ platform of choice", "c'mon, no wingflex?" and especially the "release it now!!!" mentality with you.

On the topic at hand, Mr Rhoads did not close the door on the possibility that P3D compatibility will be introduced (in fact, he left it fairly wide open). However, I'd wager a guess that F1 will be slightly less interested in pursuing this route given all of the complaining and ESPECIALLY the completely uncalled for personal attacks - for which, this site has started to become a bit notorious.

Sure, it sucks this beauty [presumably] won't work in P3D but F1 has their reasons and that's up to *them* to decide. I'm sorry they didn't consult each one of us before making their decision but, unfortunately, that's life.

DAndre Newman said...

You have some fine valid points there but i'll just say this. Community consultation is not necessarily a bad thing either.

You would be surprised just how many developers read this blog just to get general ideas of what thoughts are taking place in the FS community...

Thoughts and ideas that might be censored elsewhere. But I do agree with you, a lot of negative thoughts out there... But a lot of positive ones too!

DAndre Newman said...

Not fair there Justin. Say something productive or keep pointless comments like that to yourself.

parsnipity said...

Wow the FS hobby has fallen into a sad state.

People actually personally attacking a developer that are making ground breaking simulations for FS. Developers like this are few and far between.

If you want more developed for P3D. Complain to LM to have them change there EULA, or make an entertainment version.

Aaron said...

Sounds like it has nothing to do with consulting the wishes of the customer that keeps the product out of P3D. It's their interpretation of the EULA as written, which happens to be the same interpretation I have when reading it. Those using it have justified an interpretation of their own to make themselves feel more comfortable about it, but that doesn't make it right... or more specifically, that doesn't make it conform to the letter of the EULA. This despite any general product support from other third party developers. I support a developers right to choose the platform they support, but in the end it doesn't really matter one way or the other. It's their choice and a person can either accept it or not.

You should see how he treats (verified) customers on his support forum! Truly shocking and it appears from comments here that his reputation is catching up with him. Only two FS companies I loathe - Shite1 and JustShite - as they're known in my household.

Aaron Graham said...

Dx10 compatibility is easy if developers use and code by the FSX SDK instead of using silly work-arounds to save them a few extra weeks of work.

HenryS said...

Agree with Aaron. As an IT professional for 20+ years and very experienced at reading EULA's, the only P3D version I qualify for is the pro license. This is likely true for almost of the complaining "owners" (leasees) in this thread. Did they buy the pro license, nope. Right now, for me, knowing that the pro license is the only one I can legally use if challenged, the cost does not justify switching from FSX. When P3D v2 arrives, I will re-evaluate. But if I purchase it, it will be with an ironclad legal pro license.

HighFlyer said...

So sorry that the fact that there are potential customers upset over this doesn't fit into your comfort zone.

This aircraft is almost double the cost of the Carenado equivalent, yet fails on P3D compatibility. So it's a complete rip-off on top of everything else.

HighFlyer said...

It has nothing to do with the EULA, if it did, they wouldn't have released the iFly 737NG. It's easy to just shun a whole user segment by misconstruing a legal document.

Jason Mableton said...

Yes, FSX is truly ground breaking as a platform when compared to Prepar3D?

Again, this has nothing whatsoever to do with any EULA, that's just a false pretence!

Todd said...

Actually, Prepar3D has broad support from a lot of developers, and many allow use of their products even if there is no direct support. Let's see, there's Aerosoft, iFly, Carenado, MilViz (not direct support but we have permission to use aircraft in P3D), Majestic(same as MilViz), RealAir, FSDreamTeam, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, Orbx, Quality Wings..... So, I have plenty of goodies to enjoy. It's one of the big reasons I went from FS9 to P3D, without taking one wiff of FSX. So,I think Flight 1 would be in good company should they decide to support P3D. I know of at least one company above that has been very open about Lockheed-Martin approaching them about creating more P3D addons. Let's face it, P3D goes nowhere without the help, experience, and passion of the flight simulation community.

Sven Blomqvist said...

I switched over to Prepar3D over 18 months ago. I am not reverting back to FSX for just one aircraft, no way.

So if Flight1 is happy to accept their loss of revenue from not offering EITHER P3D compatibility OR a full standalone P3D B200, then it's their tough luck and shortsightedness.

I'm over it and am done with spending my hard earned money on FSX only add-ons.

Sorry Jim Rhoads, as much as this looks like a great product, your decision to not support P3D is far from great.

DAndre Newman said...

Thats a good one p3! You are a very funny person. Yes you are totally right! I should have never censord your comments making fun of the Asiana incident... Because I sure as hell did not share your opinion there...

Now im convenced you are a teenager.
