As always. Day appearance very nice, high end. Night textures of the tower and taler buildings (maybe a hotel) is not reaching this quality. The blue colored windows are without any detail and repeated again and again. It almost looks like they used only one texture. You look at it and automatically think it is fake. In my opinion Flightbeam took the lead in terms of perfect night appearance FSDT only during daytime.

Tried demo. Runs like crap for me LOL.

I ask how win the first Mega Airport for Canada .... Tampa ... or FSDT ???
And the winner are "F.S.D.T."
For Fly Tampa, that's a bad news for FSX users ... Montréal not release before the end about FS9 work ...

Same here. I get OOM & many stutters?
What system you have? I've got a very good PC & still have troubles.

Do you have Orbx PNW installed?

Anonymous said...

I'm quite disappointed with it. It stutters too much. Its as bad as Helsinki was.

I'm from Calgary So had big hopes for it. I just hope Tampa Montreal doesn't suck too.

no shutters but Oom warning....within 5 mins...excellent scenery. hope the fix does not impact the look of the textures...they are truly amazing - haven't seen anything like it to date. Funny tho...FSDT ridiculed A-Flight Helsinki, but it looks like we have the similar issue here...

Oh and yes I have Orbx installed...I hope I don't have to deactivate Orbx..

Just had a quickie from YVR to CYLW. 12-16 frames on the ground. Not as bad as I thought. I have PNW, Van+3 and NGX. No OOM yet. Ready to depart YLW to YVR to test an arrival.

Tried my first arrival into 26r. Pretty smooth. Still flyable on approach. Re-flew the Stave arrival to 08r. The frames drop a bit due to the approach towards the Vancouver/suburb area.

My system.
I7 950
Vista 64
6gb 1066 ram
GTX285 vid card.
Only clocked to 3.8 due to inexperience.
12-16 fps in NGX
26-35 with Carenado C90.

You complain about facts you aren't aware of:

DST: No one said it is a new environment, so there is no reason for beeing disaopointed. Btw. you don't pay for this "frills" extra. Pls keep in mind what crap in uncommon FSX areas is being sold for around 25€. Feel free to ask me if you need examples. :-)

price: If you have purchased GSX already there is discount of 20%, just use coupon code: "HAVEGSX" In this case FSDT CYVR will cost you 26.78€ in total.

20% off with the coupon "HAVEGSX" throughout January. Not sure what will happen if you don't have GSX though.

:-)

Fantastic job by FSDT, Very nice work! They are in the Top 3 of the best scenery makers for FS without a doubt. Quite a pricey scenery i must say..£25 a go but hey this is quality worth pay that price, unlike many other teams (not naming dropping)

Anyone know where the AFCAD is stored with this scenery? All the files seem to be missing & I want to remove the parkinglot vehicles to improve the performance.

10-16 fps here on i7 & nvidia 6600

The wingview picture abouve shows snow textures. I have NO snow at my Vancouver, I tried all the winter months & the textures stay the same. How did you do that? Is it Orbx?

Shadows are not dynamic. I put time on 4x & they never move. Its needs to be reloaded which is dumb.

Very impressive! I'm getting 27-36 fps with either the ngx or the CS 767... When it comes to CLS aircraft or airbus X i get 35-44!

i5 750 OC 4.0 Ghz
8 Gb RAM
ATI 5850
Win 7 64 bit

P.S. does the HAVEGSX coupon work with any scenery of FSDT for the month of January?

Oh boy, it looks amazing, beautiful but I have OOMs with the PMDG MD11. We need a non vfr version. Do we really need to see inside the buildings, or have thousands of cars in the park garage, or water paddles. In UK2000 sceneries and some from Aerosoft(great looking sceneries, too), we can disable some parts of the scenery. I would rather turn off some detail on the airport than disabling ORBX PNW. I personally don't need to see inside the buildings. Why didn't they just use flat textures. If the textures are good it looks almost as good as a building where you can see inside. The amount of vertices must be insane.

It sounds like FSDT did a very detailed high-end rendition of CYVR which by itself is quite fantastic. The unfortunate thing is that CYVR is in an area that has layers of other high-end scenery that many folks use, such as Orbx PNW and Vancouver + v3, with other demanding airports close by such as many Orbx airfields.

If ever a release should have taken an approach of moderate impact, especially on the memory front, YVR would be it. For many of us, we will need to decide if it is worth having the state of the art highly detailed FSDT CYVR and lowering the settings, and thus experience on the other layers, or simply give this one a miss. For now, I am in the latter camp, and I actually live in Vancouver.

I can't help to think if it had have been FlyTampa that did Vancouver and FSDT took on Montreal, things would be much better for those that us that were looking forward to both.

Never seen such a high details in a scenery and the shadow are simply wonderfull! Good job FDT!

Thanks Commander, I didnt actually realise there was 20% off for GSX owners, I like that concept :) Actually I really like the scenery as well, it looks very nice, I won't be buying it just yet simply because I do all my flying in the UK mainly, hence my mentioning UK2000 (as they are the dominant scenery developer for UK airports).

My point was simply that the shadows 'technology' is not much more than clever stellarium maths tacked onto a script that changes the texture set. It is a new application of that concept to FSX and I think anything new in that sense is to be applauded, but it is not 'new technology' :) Whether it is worth a premium price is a subjective question to which different individuals will probably have different answers - I was simply just raising the question...

you're welcome :-)

"It is a new application of that concept to FSX and I think anything new in that sense is to be applauded, but it is not 'new technology' :)"

Even in a limited environment we are always allowed to include the result in our mind not exclusively the process or a marketing term.

Have you seen this in FS before?

I haven't seen aynthing like that, calculating cloud-shadows in FSX also reading Weather-engine for cloud-appearance. And if you mean the result is no new tech to fsx than at least the process should be unless you have seen this in FSX before. Pls tell.

Every step to circumnavigate FSX limits is pioneer work and shouldn't be talked down by useless nitpicking.

If one is raising a question, he/she should be aware someone will not respond in the way the questioner maybe does expect, no offence! :-)

Many sceneries before Vancouveer are just as detailed. It just no one made a fuss about it & unlike Vancouver, most of them ran within the current abilities of today's fs ecosystem. Something FSDT have FAILED to do.
