ADX FirstLook: Aerosoft Twotter Extended!

FSX/P3D. Damn it was hard not to turn this FirstLook into a full fledged review! The last time I fell in love, it was with Alabeo's Staggerwing. Needless to say, I skipped the ADX FL and went straight to the full review. I am having so much fun with this aircraft! It looks good, it sounds good, and it fly's terrific! And the performance! No difference in frames between the Twotter and the Cub! It's just that good! Believe me when I say the following: ALL of you want this aircraft! It's time for another ADX FirstLook! Jeez, how many have I done this week?
In fact it's so good, I realized I just couldn't stop admiring it with every sortie I ran tonight. For this FirstLook, I bring you all along with me for the sixth and final cargo sortie I ran today. On this trip we run from PAKT to CZST for FedEx. So in an effort to refrain from saying too much and spoiling the upcoming review, i'll just let you enjoy these shots I took along the flight.

Each flight today was flawless. There are also already quite a few liveries already available in the Aerosoft download forum.

I will mention one thing I don't like. When you first load the aircraft, it automatically sets the position to the VC to display the view selection panel and flight manual. I would rather make these selections manually.
Yes, with RealityXP addons this aircraft could go from great, to greatest... But. RXP ain't lookin so great these days support wise.

Nevertheless, there is plenty of information here to ensure you follow all proper procedures. So take your time, get it right. This baby is packed with features!

There are more shots here than what you would normally find in a typical ADX FirstLook and this is only because I had to stop myself at some point. Damn 2013 is a great year for addons! Great job to this team!

I simply love this airplane! I LOVE it! Get yours now and stay tuned to our full impression. And thanks to Aerosoft!

Is there a clickspot to hide the yokes?

I might have overlooked, but where did you get the Fedex livery? I don't think it's shown in my installation.
I'm not at home right now, so I can't check.
I noticed only three liveries are installed. A few more are available for download via Aerosoft.
It surprised me a bit that the FlyBe/Loganair livery is not part of the installation. It is available for download however.

How about Reality XP integration, does it have an optional installer for the RXP GNS530/430 like the Carenado aircraft?

Nope, no click spot and no means to hide the yokes.

Looks awesome - gonna go buy it now! Love the faint dusty outline of the boot print in picture 17 below the dashboard - so realistic!!!

Unfortunately no option to hide yoke, they felt it would be unrealistic I thin Mathijs said. I find the panel however isn't as badly covered over as in some other aircraft have been. It'll be your VSI and HSI that might be obscured, though a quick glance to the right seat for these can be a make do. I use TrackIR and EzDok, so that kind of reduces the issue a bit for me as well.

Not at this time.

This can be disabled in the checklist/configuration page among other settings.

No, non-existant! I'm amazed at the excuses and tit-for-tat discussions that have been made here regarding the lack of RXP GPS support.

Aerosoft is a key player in the FSX / P3D market (and X-Plane too). Every clued up developer knows that the RXP GPS is no longer supported and also doesn't work at all in P3D. Ok, so why not throw some resources at creating a new hardcore GPS that us simmers can use?

I can only shake my head at Aerosoft management, they seem so fast asleep to have missed the opportunity of developing a RXP GPS successor! It's been 10 years since the RXP GPS was released for FS9 and 5 years since the FSX release. A quick search on Google shows that as early as May 2010 users were complaining about the lack of support from RXP.

So here we have a perfect example of developers not grasping an opportunity to give the community a sorely needed navdata updatable GPS that would be a worthy successor to the very popular RXP GPS!

The first is Ketchikan and the second (landing) airport is CZST Stewart,BC. Both ORBX, of course.

Mathijs is correct. When you actually fly the aircraft, you will find that the yokes ate not intrusive at all. Of course, folks with TrackIR will have a much better time with it. I do agree there should always be a click spot for yokes for various reasons, but it would be very unrealistic to fly without them and again, with T-IR, it's most realistic.

Personally, I did not have any reason to remove them.

As is the FedEx livery. Adding all the other liveries in the package would likely have pushed the download to over 1GB. So im fine with downloading the liveries I like. But yes, only comes with 3 liveries out of the box.

Thebattention to detail in this aircraft is nothing short of superb. You are going to have a great time with it!

DAndre Newman said...

Yes, Orbx created quite a wonderland with these regions. Soon the shackles will come off then FTX Global hits the virtual shelves in a couple werks!

Thanks Finn, this is only the first look, but I promise the manual will be thoroughly read prior to the offical review.

No sweat :-)

I´m happy that You have fun with it.

At least we have fullfilled it´s purpose then.

This is a fantastic aircraft, and although I've only had a couple of chances to get her up and flying due to work, I highly recommend the purchase!

If you owned the original, make sure to get the 20% discount using your old serial code.

I just wanted to note that I love it before, just for the records!

Great scenery for a great plane. There are people making great things in our little sim world. What I like most by now: the love for detail, the graphics, the sounds, the checklists and config menu, how natural and correctly all systems seems to work, and the best of all: many hours of flying ahead.

Just developing a Garmin GNS530W is no small feat, so to criticize Aerosoft for not doing so is not fair. First of all, you have to get permission from Garmin to do so. Secondly, you have to somehow get database updates, which apparently isn't straight forward for Garmin products. Lastly, the GNS530 is old technology. We're now into the GTN touchscreen series.

Blame RXP for continuing to sell their products and basically offering zero support. That's the issue.

Hopefully AS can include a removeable yoke in a future update. Its very unrealistic for those of us with home cockpits and yokes having the on screen VC yoke visible.

Andreas said...

Their is no developer anymore at RXP since 2008. By the way, there is no need for support from RXP: Aerosoft has just to remove the default GPS from the gauge files and replace the 3D buttons with a simple Bitmap. But they dont want do that, so they make it them selves easy and shift the blame to RXP. There is no support necessary from RXP at all.

DAndre Newman said...

Indeed you have imperssed the hell out of me at least!

V1Rotate said...

Yeah I was wondering about that. I just bought the Carenado 206, and the RXP530 integrates beautifully.

Haha. If it was so simple why dont you develop a new GPS then. Why bother giving tit for tat commentarys.
