The Twotters are still in development!

FSX/P3D. I just can't say enough how damn good the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended is. I have been flying this baby almost every day! Yet another kudos to the team! As we are all very aware, the Twin Otter comes in several variants and rather than make you wait for the complete package, the team has decided to release them one at a time. In the latest announcement by Mathijs Kok, the next version up on deck is the Tundra wheels version! Coming soon!

Does anyone own both the Twin Otter and the new Flight1 B200? I'm in the market for a good turbine GA plane. Just wondering which one is better from those who can render an informed opinion.

Depends what you want from a turbine GA aircraft. The B200 and Twin Otter are very different aircraft. Personally I think the Twin Otter is the better option, but i'd also go with Carenados King Air instead of the Flight1...mainly because of the gauges (I don't like glass cockpits in my tubroprops).

Hi Steve,

I have an enjoy both, though the B200 is probably more in the technical enthusiast camp more so than the twin otter. Both have some higher level check list and system modelling, though the B200 more so, and it also includes more extension to persistent wear and damage modelling (something more akin to the A2A style aircraft).

Both do have a some bug bears for certain folk just depending on what you want from your aircraft and the hardware you use. For example the otter has a non removable yolk and no ability to integrate Reality XP GPS into the cockpit like Carenado etc do, which for some is a big issue. Where as the B200 currently has issues negotiating throttles through FSUIPC without twitching between beta and idle, and a couple of aspects are missing from the G1000 which are reserved for their Flight1 Tech training platform only that some folk miss, and of course the G1000 is probably going to knock you down a few FPS. I should note the B200 currently isn't available for P3D either.

I'm pretty sure the B200 forum is open to non registered users still, so it'd probably be worth just having a trawl through both Aerosoft's and Flight1's forums for these birds and just seeing if there are any bugs or annoyances up front that you might need to know about before buying.

If you just want a pretty good twin turbine good for short field work and aren't fussed about the GPS, then the twin otter might be a good choice. You can get pretty technical, but you can opt for ease of use too.

Keep in mind too, Flight1 should have a money back policy with their e-commerce facility as well, so you may be able to try the B200 before you commit to keeping long term in that regard too.

Hope that helps.

Graeme
