FSX/P3D. This morning, Orbx CEO John Venema released a press announcement regarding the now delayed release of FTX Global. As we already know, they had set today as the release target, but as with any software project, those targets can't always be met. In this instance, the developers are a few days away from making the first beta build to give to testers. The main delay at the present is finalizing the coding changes to FTX Central which is almost done. Current release expectation is...
Quoting John Venema: "...at this stage we're looking solid for a release this month, likely the middle of next week. The main thing is that the beta testers ensure that FTX Central and Hybrid Mode work as intended. The textures themselves are locked and loaded and there's only some minor landclass updates we will add in the next few days."

When I was in Sales, the mantra we used was "under promise, over deliver" - sim add-on developers seem to prefer to go for the most unrealistic, optimistic date which inevitably leaves us all disappointed.
Tje difference is Orbx keeps its customers informed every day and is honest about why the delay occurs. We also know what kind of product we will be getting.
I HATE how you have to switch from Europe to North America for example. Whose idea and why was this thought to be a good idea? If i have paid for a product i want to use both in one sitting...if i choose to do a long haul from London to North America i cant enjoy both my purchases without saving and switching mid-flight (didnt know that was possible anyway)....not impressed by this
Well then, you haven't been following the release announcements and you definitely didn't read this one, because you don't have to do that anymore with Hybrid mode.
Have you actually read what the "hybrid" mode is? Please think (or in this case read) before you post...
Brad, have you even bothered to read this press release?
From what I've just read, it states that this new "Hybrid Mode" will allow you to do exactly that - fly between regions without having to change FTX Central. It has been stated (ad nauseum) that in-built limitations to the core FSX engine was the sole reason to have the region change in the first place, and that a huge amount of work has gone into working around this problem for FTX Global.
Hands thrown up...ok ok..i didn't read it but its been ongoing for long enough all this switching malarkey...bout time
ja, ja, ja... posting is always a dangerous mision; usually everybody knows more than you...
About the delay, it doesn't matter to me. I think that nowadays ORBX is one of the best things happening in flightsim world. Although I would like their sceneries to be even better, I like very much their work.
Brad.....for goodness sakes Brad! Did you not read the stuff where they talked about the thing that you are so angry about?
J/K we flight sim geeks are an unforgiving bunch.
Hahahaha... thats all I have to say Brad.
