not impressed.
u aint gonna grt a single $ out of me
show us a video showing the FPS
you bunch of has been developers

Mike Peters. (come and sue me)

Please get your facts right before you open your mouth, the only thing FTX Global does is replace default FSX textures and add some more custom autogen. Do you really think that will impact the FPS drastically? No, it has already been stated that there has not been a single drop of frames while testing the product.

what's your Problem Mike Peters?

ok! - you're not impressed - no reason to be rude.

The pics are somehow impressive for a generic product - Tests after release will tell us about performance.

I can wait for that

Happy Landings

Well, to be honest I'm not impressed either. The reason is simple - I bet noone would see a "stunning difference" (Orbx slanguage) in so-called comparison shots IF they've been posted by regular posters, not Orbx devs. :)

Every time I read comments by simmers I am more and more astonished at how uninformed and presumptuous they are! For a group that spends so much time reading airplane manuals they don't seem to read much else!

Either you're blind, a fool or have never bought any OBRX packages.
because if you had, the content of your reply would have been completely different.

LOL! 'Has-been developers.' And yet they continue to make what are considered leading edge scenery packs and carry with them community anticipation on anything they do. Sounds like 'has-beens'...

Is it really much better than UTX or Stock?
I remember the M$ shots when FSX came out looked amazing too.

Orbx are VERY cunning with their screenshots.
Plus it will probably 10s of GBs & cause OOMs on every other flight. I'll pass.

Orbx never lies, I have owned most of their products and each one lives up to my and everyone elses expectations.

Anonymous said...

People like you getting real annoying. What makes you think you will get OOMs? This product just replace default textures like others said. Get your damn facts straight please!

Easy.. easy.. FTXG is still in Alpha stage. And won't be released before mid-June.

We are all at different levels of understanding, when it's about FSX technology. No reason for attacks.
Thanks

I agree, these OOM posts are starting to get really annoying, especially for a texture replacement pack that is the same size textures as the stock FSX textures.

So many uninformed comments that are really getting tiresome.

Anonymous said...

Cunning with screenshots? John Lovell's shots are vanilla P3D and nothing else. How is that cunning? Seems people have some axe to grind or just like trolling ADX.

Have people moved from AVSIM to ADX? I used to come here daily for news but over the past month or so there just seems to be too much trolling and developer bashing going on so I am visiting here less and less.

LOL. Haters gonna hate.

Time to get some popcorn.

The OOM comments maybe annoying, but there are very valid. Take the FS Dreamteam Vancouver scenery for example. It is the only scenery I have, where I almost constantly get OOM messages.

So if Orbx replace the stock FSX textures, these autogen textures will then most surely be larger in file size, as the they look way more detailed. So you do the math, larger file size means the memory footprint becomes larger too, thus increasing the overall memory being used, thus pushing more towards the OOM limit!

The OOM discussion is an important one, as none of their screenshots show any complex weather or complex aircraft!

I like these images, at least it seems more natural, with all these buildings all around. Perhaps the photo images of landscape and cities under trees and building could be better.

The other option, I supose should be asking Google or Apple to bring their maps and 3D views to simulation world downloading them while flying, but for now it seems imposible.

So, it will depend on final prize, if it is reasonable, it will be a great addition. In fact, what my P3D needs most is to improve the default sceneries.

Anonymous said...

It's an important one yes, but no relevance in this product as it replaces textures, it doesn't add mass amounts of new data.

Anonymous said...

No relevance? As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss!

Great job censoring my 2nd comment...Great job shushing the negative (yet respectful) comments.

MIke Peters.

FSDT's vancouver is an exception, mostly because of their "dynamic shadows" and the fact that they modeled too much of the terminal interiors. Flytampa Dubai V2 has much more autogens like hong kong and no one complained about ooms or fps problems.

Anonymous said...

It's equally ignorant to miss my point.

IT DOESN'T ADD NEW DATA LIKE A STANDARD SCENERY PACKAGE, IT REPLACES TEXTURES, THEREFORE NOT INCREASING RESOURCE USAGE, THEREFORE THE OOM ARGUEMENT IS I-R-R-E-L-E-V-A-N-T.

No relevance whatsoever in the OOM discussion, if you wouldn't be so ignorant and just read the product description, you'd see that it bears no relevance.

What a brilliant and insightful comment Mr. Anonymous. Well done.

I'm looking forward to flying my Overland aircraft into these large airports with tons of autogen. I'll leave the OOM problems to "real" NGX pilots. :)

We very rarely censor comments, if it was indeed censored it must have been pretty bad. Maybe resubmit in case it got lost somehow assuming it was respectful as you say.

These OOM/FPS whingers are full of hot air (perhaps from their overheating Pentium IIs?). I agree with one of the posters above, perhaps some of the "personalities" from the legacy website backwaters have finally discovered ADX (and the 21st century). Be a shame to ruin ADX for everyone, this is by far my favorite source of FS news.

To you. Their forum is like a dictatorship society, any criticism is removed even polite ones.

They still have not solved FTX England Blurries.

IMHO, FTXG must be marketed as a product combining and even excelling the best of its predecessors - the FS veterans such as Ultimate Terrain (UTX) and Ground Environment (GEX). Basically, without a proper autogen and landclass (maybe even mesh, as part of their DLC-based release policy) FTXG is just a bunch of... textures whatever quality it is! Autogen and landclass are the main driving forces behind TRUELandscape France, NL2000 Netherlands, etc. and the absence of which makes stuff like MegaScenery and Horizon's UK a bunch of iffy, undeveloped products.

Anonymous said...

AFAIK, FTX Global replaces the default sets of textures... These textures AFAIK are the same filesize as the default ones, despite any change in actual content of those texture files... So performance should be the same as default in regard to the actual textures... Now, autogen, if they add MORE autogen objects to any of these texture tiles... i.e. more than what the default shows, then yes there could be a performance impact, especially if the autogen setting is set high.,.. but again only IF they add MORE autogen than what the default supplies. Then IF they add more textures that have MORE autogen and the landclass says to display these textures that have MORE autgen in a more confined area, again, performance could be impacted? That's how I see it.

FTX Global will likely be an imporvement yes. Revolutionary? No. It will still be limited because there is a limited amount of default texture sets that can be changed. Some areas will look good, but other areas where similar/same textures as another area need to be used because of this limitation it may not look correct. This is evident more in Orbx's shots of India and the middle east.

These areas are where photoreal scenery like Megascenery for example are much more realistic, autogen or not.

Just wanted to point out a couple of things, UTX is not a predecessor of FTXG; two different types of products. UTX is terrain, FTXG is textures. TrueLandscape France, is just coasts and landclass; like UTX but without the roads/railroads. Apparently there will be a global landclass add-on to FGTX a little later.

From the Orbx forums, John Lovell is testing using P3D and he said

"I can honestly tell you, you're gonna be blown away by the autogen in FTX Global. My jaw has not left the floor since I been testing and performance is incredible.

I was flying over LA with all auto fully cranked, hardly any hit and it looked amazing! "
