I really hope that they will handle sales like aerosoft or simmarket and sell a few airports at a nice price over the year. Not all as they have done before. I think there are a lot of "tube flyers" that grab some of their fields from time to time if the price is right. But as a "tube flyer" the ORBX stuff is pure luxury for me.

Its amazing how Orbx is able to sustain itself (80 employees) with just FSX sales. Which to many people who now things around the community, the reality is that there aren't tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands nor millions of FSX users buying products and yet, Orbx selling products for unknown airports at 30 Euros a piece is making so much money and becoming profitable. Its admirable how they have managed to become so well organized and how they have succeeded.

It shows that for payware developers there is still an untapped market out there of many people looking for great looking products.

I hope they can make their own simulator the way things are going. I am sure they can!

Their own simulator ?

Hmm. Why not a consortium ?

Let's say Aerosoft + Orbx + some main distributor + an aircrat manufacturer and 3 or 4 average designers.
Such a team will make a superb ultimate platform...

I think you will see that the reason is that their focus is on being the best. Not profitability or quantity. As explained in their update:

"What I can promise you is this: we will never stop trying to push the boundaries, innovate, and try new things."

All the most successful companies share this type of common trait if you think about it. Sure, they are businesses so they need to be profitable to survive. But just like you don't need to be obese to survive, you don't need to be the richest to be the best.
