FSX/P3D. The boys at FSDG are on final approach to Thessaloniki X and the final beta and installers are nearing completion! These boys have done it again and are delivering yet another incredible Greek airport scenery with an entire city to go with it! I'll be making my first approach later today and will have the ADX FirstLook! ready to go shortly after release. For now, here are the latest previews to hold you over! And please don't drool. That's disgusting... but understandable. ADX FirstLook inbound!

***INCREDIBLE*** Thought I didn't need that one, but these pictures turned it into a "must have"
That detail on the city and surrounding area looks rediculously good. I like the fact that Mathis states it may be the finest scenery he's ever seen. Credit card at the ready ...
HOLY!! WOW! looks insane! can´t wait!
Curious to know if the OOM's are going to be as frequent when using this scenery. Looks like it's hungry on 'resources' :-(
I am already fooling around with it. So far the average is 37-47FPS flying over that city down onto final with full AI with the CS767. The performance is great! You guys are going to freaking love it! I'm dying to show it off but must keep it in my trousers for now...
Im more interested in how this will realistically work when someone flys from EGLL using UK2000 scenery and Horizon Sim UK VFR photo scenery / rex textures / activesky NEXT and after 10/11 hours flying, if any system would sustain or hold out without giving the dreaded OOM's...I find hungry scenery like this especially with all that customGEn would impact a flight like that. More and more flights that VATSIM lovers are doing are less likely to be shuttle flights, more transborder from JFK or Europe.
That I cant answer to that but I can say that it is on par with FT Dubai and T2G MMMX in terms of performance. So how ever people are fairing with those sceneries on point to point flights is how I would imagine they will fair out here as well. Even on my poopoo system I don't get OOM's at Dubai...
D'Andre,
do you have it on FSX or P3D2 running?
P3D V1. I am waiting for some V2 buggs to be worked out. LM has released a statement on that today actually. Need to update the blog..
A note for those concerned with ooms. Well, scenery development, in no way should stand back and design their products to the limitations of 32-bit ONLY. It is inevitable that P3D becomes 64-bit and ooms will be gone. A scenery like DD NYC maybe prone to get oom nowadays, but it won't be like that forever. I say, stop being so narrow minded about it. If you want products that only fit within the 32-bit limitation, you essentially ask developers to halt from further enhancing and creating better and more impressive products. My point is, all of these scenery are created with the future in mind, not strictly restricted within the 32-bit oom limitation. The oom problem will be solved eventually and p3d will use those 16 gigs of rams like it should.
Adi, OOMs have nothing to do with the amount of RAM installed. An OOM occurs when a 32-bit application reaches a hard limit of 4Gb virtual address space. Ordinarily, under 32-bit operating systems, each application would have 2Gb VAS max, but making the application LARGEADDRESSAWARE allows the application to access up to the hard limit of 4Gb.
I draw your aattention to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_address_space, which explains it well enough.
It would appear that MS-Windows-based 64-bit applications have a user-mode address space of 8Tb... !
Now, you would not need to install 8Tb of RAM...
A
It may be some time before any further FS application other than X-Plane 64 goes 64-bit. What use is an addon that looks great in the marketing screenshots but cannot be made to run at all without OOM shutdown and / or exceptionally poor performance, even on the latest and greatest tuned and tweaked hardware? I am all for raising the bar, but within reason. Overloading the system so much that all I can do is "fly" the default Cessna or similar to go "WOW, just look at the lights/extent of that" just before the "Windows has run out of memory... "message is not my idea of the way forward. I am likely not alone with this thought...
Andrew, you don't have to explain it. I know. It's not the point of what I said though. Also, it doesn't matter if it was VAS or RAM. In both ways, the 32-bit won't use more than 4 gigs.
I confused VAS with RAM which are indeed two separate things (I was under the impression VAS embeds into RAM but it isn't) but this proves yet, another fault with fsx & p3d. Why use VAS when it can use the much faster RAM? SSDs, as fast as they are, are still not as fast as RAM. Using the RAM, can definitely mean much higher loading speeds of scenery.
So, I'll just repeat my point from earlier post. It's like the fact FSX came out in 2006 but we weren't really enjoying it until around 2010~. So scenery development must keep going, even if it doesn't run awesome on the current application. Eventually, it will. I hope this analogy helps understanding.
Umberto (FSDT) had announced they are working on another unannounced large US airport, scheduled for 2014 (hopefully, he says):

New Orleans perhaps? ;-)
Not large enough. I'm thinking KATL, KSEA, or KMSP
Fantastic scenery...and lets say that the next airports will be Samos LGSM and Ioannina LGIO.
Greece....short flights for boeing 737 and airbus A320 with amazing approaches.
Thanks FSDG
very nice and very fps friendly, just bought it today, and i love it
ADX First Look D' !!!
is it that really this big ? Is this why it takes you more time?? lool
DAndre,
Don't know if you saw but FlightBeam's got some new previews for Denver up.
