Simwings Heathrow! The latest!

FS9/FSX/P3D. Now I was among the first that bought the older version of SimWings' Heathrow. But it paled in comparison to the UK2000 variant (released afterward) that I wound up spending my money on this airport a third time (Heathrow Pro). Heathrow has always been a very important destination to me in both real-world and in the Sim. But i'll admit, I thought it was dumb for SimWings to approach the airport with a newer version given the fact that once again, UK2000 will release an updated Heathrow this year as well. But after seeing these shots this morning, I must say, I am very impressed. Gary will really need to top this if I am going to buy Heathrow for a fifth time... Cause I'm getting this one! Also full compatibility with FTX-England is expected.

FYI, pre-alpha still lots of work to do!

It looks too outdated IMO.
Would love to see EGLL being properly taken care of :)

Is it just be or is it just doesn't feel right compared to FT, FSDT or FB's sceneries.. maybe it was pre mature to display it to the public, but I feel like it's lacking some density..

Hey DAndre, which Heathrow version do you recommend? I have the UK2000 also but it's so damn heavy on frames even scaled back, and my rig is pretty decent too. I want to fly into all the UK2000 airports but haven't gotten any others yet because I don't want a slideshow.

Recommendations?

SimWings has never been up to par with FlyTampa and the like. Perhaps always a bit short of that quality level but always damn good. But remember, this is still in Alpha. Just very early development previews to show the project is still in development.

If you actually read my post you would know. :)

I use these heavy airports in FS9 so I don't have performance issues with either.

Outdated? How? Either way, it will be taken cared of by both SimWings and UK2000. So I advise you wait till both are available.

Well, outdated in the sense of texture art, when comparing with higher end developers. I guess they will have to settle for a lower price given today's high standards or development, right?

Preview pics could be for FS2004 as well!

Can't see any high-res textures here. Nearly every prominent developer had gained his development skills over the years, apart from Simwings and GAP.

It seems they still stick in fs2004 development.

Texture baking? we are talking about one of the world's most important airports and we are still stuck in the 2004 era.

Until we get a proper X64 bit simulator, we will remain in the FS9 era.

And X-Plane doesn't count.

Give them credit guys, do you really want another FSDT CYVR OOM fest on your hands or a reasonably looking Heathrow you can really enjoy your NGX or PNDG 777 into with reasonable performance?

If it's not good enough for you, don't buy it. Simple.

FSDT just suck. Its all hyped features & bullshit but the end result is OOMs & poor performance. CYVR is the worst scenery i bought since Orbx's Brisbane.

Heathrow (above)looks fine to me. As long as it runs well, thats half the art.

Agree, all that 'Bling' and 'dynamic shadows' etc bullcrap just destroys the actual enjoyment of a big airport..and results in OOMs

Give me slightly less Bling and more FPS any day

I think it looks nice, will definitely have to see how Gary's is.

That sounds like you haven't any masterpiece from Flightbeam, FSDT, FlyTampa. They all have arrrive in FSX era ans i know OOMs rather by hearsay.

"Give them credit guys, do you really want another FSDT CYVR OOM fest on your hands or a reasonably looking Heathrow you can really enjoy your NGX or PNDG 777 into with reasonable performance?"

CYVR is perfectly balanced.
So i welcome any further airport which looks like CYVR and can handle the NGX and ORBX environment easily.

With my rig and my setup i can achieve locked 30fps with max. standard variation of 1,5% in every angle in VC of NGX, predominantly it's around 0,5%.

This is absolutely amazing, try to do that in PANC with SAK environment then you'll know what you can expect from EGLLv2 with FTX England.

No airport in FSX must look like FS2004 to have reasonable performance nowadays. If somebody told you, he lied.

Developers do it for FS9 compatibility reasons and/or because they can't do better.

The bad image of FSX is mostly caused by modest FS2004 developers. There is no contradiction between visual appearance and performance today, because we should have been overcoming FS9 era long ago.

Btw. OOMs are smoothly avoidable. Just a few guys still ignore, they control the appearance themselves.

EGLL is a very prominent airport like EDDF is. So i solidarise with every simmer, who argue for enhanced quality in FSX and performance today, like seen in KIAD, CYVR, KLAX, CYUL, OMDB, KPHX,...

That wouldn't be any problem if there were more competition.

If there were also a Flightbeam Heathrow planned hardly no one would care on this project anymore. No offence against Simwings and UK2000.

Only the best is good enough, true customers perspective!

I like how Simwings have really made the area around heathrow much bigger than their last version...you have the M25 included in their first beta shots on Aerosoft, i doubt Gary will have this too? Its also going to be interesting to see what the ground textures are like...FSDG taxiway and runway textures are SICK! I can only hope we get some decent base textures to go with the building quality shown thus far

I really like FSDTs Zurich and Vancouver. I removed JFK v2, just wasnt to my liking base image and texture wise on the ground. Buildings were superb but im very much about sharpness. Las Vegas i like but will wait for their updated version that was mentioned will come at some stage..i removed Dallas..never use it and i brought Chicago which is good but again never really fly there ive found (am i wasting money!??!)..Geneva also is due an update i read so i might find time to do flights there soon?....they really dont need to add all the time shadows etc etc....
