FSX/P3D. Orbx has released Airdrie Airpark (CEF4)! The package includes the airport and surrounding area as well some enhancements to the city of Calgary, namely downtown, princess island park, and nose hill park. Living in the area myself I've been watching this project closely - any other Albertans on AirdailyX? Some more pics inside...

I am an Albertan! These shots are great, the Calgary skyline looks pretty amazing!
First of all, these ORBX GA airports are beautiful masterpieces, no doubt. I don't know, how they perform on sales, but I think the GA airfield hype started to calm down, and ORBX has to show some innovation. ORBX world is a good one in that aspect, but I think they should start thinkin on mid-size airports, that can handle small liners (NGX, A320). Simmarket airport sales stats show, that people are mostly flying jets. It's strictly my opinion!
"Orbx has to show some innovation" - not sure if they can innovate any more than they already have done with their GA airports? I don't see any other developer who owns this market any better than Orbx, nothing comes close to the level of details in their GA airports.
If they did not sell well, I guess Orbx would stop making them. I think the tubeliner market is not any bigger than the VFR market. For me the fun is the adventure and discovery of exploring regions and landing at amazing detailed airports. Not programming an FMC and making a cup of coffee while flying over awful textures at 40,000AGL, LOL!
Well, with Orbx now announcing some mid-large airports such as the most important airport in New Zealand and recently a small-medium Cardiff I think they are starting to feel some stagnation. They perhaps have reached the top of their peak with these small GA airports on 25 euros a piece, and they want to expand their base with larger airports I am sure.
They are indeed branching out into bigger "tubeliner" capable airports such as Auckland, Queenstown, Bozeman, Cardiff, and Southampton.
Maybe innovation is not the correct word, english is not my native language. As I said ORBX stuff are amazing masterpieces, no doubt. But in my opinion, most of the people who are flying GA in simulator have their PPL in real life too. And they prefer to fly in real life against simulator. The people who are flying liners don't have alternatives, they cannot get into the nearby airfield and go for a ride in a 737 in the weekend, that's why I think there are lot more of these people. And please, don't LOL at me, I just wrote my opinion, and for me doing procedures as real as possible is still challenging, even at 40000 feet high. It is true, that flying long haul can be boring, but I don't do it, I do only short hops (1,5-2 hours)
Dear God, i am flying over Vlan's latest work and i can see the Canadian flagsip, floating over the snow. Home ! Home ! Definitely my new homebase.
Just need to rent some hangar large enough... for my good old WestJet B-737-600.

No, no.. not Vlan's.... VLAD's !
Don't forget Orbx DID do some large airports a few years back but then said they'd not do any more after the complaints they got about framerates with YMML and YBBN. They also said the airports were too big and took too long to make. It looks like they might be testing the water again with some medium sized airports that will placate the tubeliner crowd but not cause their computer to melt.
Also bear in mind hardly anyone else does the kind of small GA airports Orbx does, yet there's plenty of developers making big international airports. I'd be happy for Orbx to stick to the smaller stuff.
Plus... (may I add)
It is also more beneficial to produce a small one and sell it as a mega airport price. Since the small one won't take much time.
Right, if Orbx where to do for example KPDX, the price would be 70 euros.... they will lose money selling it at 25.
Both of you were right, and wrote an understandable reason. I think the problem is with me, I can't get the GA feeling, beacuse I've never travelled in a small plane. (The smallest was CRJ). I think I'll do a ride in the nearby airfield, it's 90 euros for half an hour for 3 persons.
I`m in Airdrie...in Scotland :)
