Jakarta Soekarno Hatta : our test !

FS9/FSX. BDO Aviation, the Indonesian team, were merely working on FS9 freeware local airports. Their first heavy airport on FSX is a huge step. They know they're good and the scenery has its price, around (25 € and 30 $. A beauty for "long haulers" ?

SOEKARNO HATTA WIII - OUR HOT TEST

Version tested : FSX V1.0
Installation : Very easy and automatically inserted in library (FSX).
Price : approx. 25 € / 30 $
Manual : 4 pages in engligsh, no charts.
Framerate : Very friendly for this size of airport.

Special note from Airdailyx : We published a previous post about BDO Aviation. A few weeks ago, they were only selling the scenery on box versions and asked pre-payments. If the scenery could not be finished, the team was ready to refund buyers.

The bad :

* As usual, you need to look at what could be the destinations around this airport.
In FS9, it's okay, there are plenty and BDO made a lot of south east airports for this platform.
In FSX, the nearest point is Imagine Sim Singapoure (475 nm).

* The price : fair but still expensive !

* Maybe a lack of details in the parking lots. More cars, more traffic. There is traffic but rather faint.

* Some grounds are made of low definition photoreal textures.

The good :

* A large amount of details inside the terminals : departure gates with stairs and chairs. A lot if signs around the airport.

* Am i wrong ? Isn't the first Indonesian airport ever in FSX ?

* Only a few teams can design such a large airport in FSX. Congrat !

This picture with all the terminals gives a good idea of the size..

Same view from Google Earth...

This one was taken at dusk.

Amazing details inside the terminals.

This one is taken at night.  Some night lights appear then in the terminals.

Terminal for long hauls and heavies (with defaut FSX AI traffic).

Before buying the scenery, i was a bit scared by the bad textures on jetways
(on some screenshots in Simmarket) but this one i took shows fine textures.

Can you believe it ? Bridge + slope taxiway.
Some developers are spending days to do this.
And this one has a double bridge with car traffics...

The scenery looks good, but it is definitely not on the same level as a modern "Mega Airport" like Athens, San Francisco or Munich. Therefore the price is too high for me.

IMHO 25 euros is a minimum for an airport of this size...

Yeah i agree, it's not Aerosoft or Fly Tampa but who will do an indonesian airport if not them ?

It is not the size that matters but the costs to produce it. I read once on "a forum" that a Mega airport costs about 30-40.000$ to develop. A VW is as big as an Mercedes but does not necessarily cost the same.

How much !! If it does then most devs are making a loss

A loss or making the same amount per hour as a walmart or mcdonald employee.
