Work on TFDi 717 to proceed...

FS9/FSXP3D. As we announced earlier today, the partnership between TFDi and FSDGroup has been permanently severed. There has been a lot of skepticism between our readers as to weather the project would ever be competed anyway. Well an official press statement just released by TFDi explains things further. Oh and what's this? MilViz now involved? This could turn out to be very good news indeed!

Statement from TFDi:

"Folks,

As I'm sure you're all aware, we recently terminated our agreements (or lack thereof) with FSDGroup and their associates. I didn't feel it was appropriate to make a public statement regarding it, but since I no longer have any choice in the matter, I would at least like a fair opportunity to explain the reality of the situation.

Let me start by addressing this: we have moved from their group to a group called Milviz. They are an enormous and well established group that has worked with several major names in the industry. We are in no way slowing down 717 progress. We are, in reality, speeding up the progress and guaranteeing even more reliable development.

Now, with that said, I will explain what truly transpired between FSDGroup and TFDi Design..."

SWEET! Let's get this done. How can this happen in the next quarter? Do they need investors? I need a 717.

So we are expected to believe that a group that has never released anything of consequence before and let by a guy who calls himself "turbofandude" is going to release a high-end simulation of a Boeing 717, which has systems similar to the MD-11 that took PMDG years to complete? Yeahhhhh suuuuuuure. If anyone seriously thinks this will ever see the light of day I have a bridge in London to sell you :)

With MilViz onboard, I think their supervision will surely see this project get completed. But I would not expect it this year...

You really should do your research before going out and criticizing a developer. Have you bothered even looking at their site? They have indeed released products, both of which I have heard of. I can tell you that making an aircraft for flight sim is not an easy task. Have a little respect for those doing so. No one has to develop anything. Also, what does a username have to do with anything? I'm sure your username is super professional, as that is totally what a username is for.

Milviz really needs to finish their own projects (e.g. the 737-200) first before entering into further commitments.

We are in the process of conducting an exclusive interview with MilViz. It should prove very interesting!

Milviz means FSX only, damn

Ok, fair enough but research shows that "turbofandude" is a 16 year old kid. Have a look at his Avsim profile http://forum.avsim.net/user/192507-turbofandude/

Now having said that, how much possible knowledge can a 16 year old have to produce a top quality 717? There's a lot of other developers who are much older and still cant put together a great addon a/c.

I'm not trying to bash this kid since everyone needs to start somewhere, but when it comes to taking on a project like an aircraft that includes much more than just modeling skills, I have my doubts.

You look at a what it takes PMDG to make their products what there are, like a team of graphic designers, some guys with engineering backgrounds, some pilots, and one Dr. Vos. Plus the Chief Randazzo who is a pilot himself and has all the connects to get the data needed.

I was pretty excited about this product since I didn't know a 16 year old kid was the one in charge of it. Now that I know that, it will more than likely be a pass for me. However with Milviz in charge maybe it will turn out half descent. I dont know, guess we will just have to wait and see.

If I were that kid, I wouldn't advertise my age and maybe come up with a more professional user name that doesn't have the word "dude" in it. When your in business and trying to market yourself and a product, making your age anonamous might not be a bad idea when your 16 and trying to sell a complex addon. Maybe he's a genius, but I am betting not and my excitement for this has just gone down the tube.

I am certainly glad it was brought to our attention who the kid is in charge. Hopefully this wont end up like an Abacus or CaptSim project.

Yes, Milviz have been very very slow in updating us on progress with their eagerly awaited King Air 350i. The last news was posted back in December 2012:

Funny thing is your spelling is worse than what might be expected from a 16 year old, and you're an adult, right?

Your --> You're
anonamous -> anonymous

My thoughts exactly. If this guy is going to argue that a sixteen year old is too young to be taken seriously then writing a post littered with poor spelling, punctuation and grammar is perhaps not the most convincing way to get his point across.

I admit, im concerned about that as well. I really want this aircraft in FS9.

Oh I did do my research and I'm not criticising. I am just hugely skeptical because we have seen this sort of thing a million times before.
If you are actually seriously suggesting that developing a soundset and a flight tracker are in any way comparable to developing a high-end, system detailed airliner then I am not sure what to say.
There are hundreds of flight sim developers who are able to write and program amazingly powerful utilities and programs that enhance our FS experience - Many of them released as freeware. But that's Worlds away from producing high end airliners.
Just to demonstrate that you simply don't get it, the username is about how you present yourself to the World. Part of business is projecting an image. You don't see Qualitywings, FlyTampa, PMDG, LevelD, FSDT, Aerosoft etc etc etc presenting themselves as "UmbertoFSDesignDude" or "CoolGeorgeSceneryKing" or "Mathijsthegreat" because they realise that presenting a professional look is an important part of running their business if they want to be taken seriously.
One only has to look at history to see how these things go. This guy just entered into a business deal with another developer without even entering into a contract ! Smacks of two kids sitting in their bedroom going "Lets make a 717"....."Yeah dude, cool, lets do it!!"
We have seen this all before, shiny renders, because lets face it 3D modelling is fun - Then it dies away into nowhere, because the nitty gritty of the rest of it is not fun.
Lets hope Milviz bring some much needed professionalism into this project, because a high end 717 would be seriously great. But given that the 717 has a whole multitude of systems that are lifted from the MD-11 and that took PMDG of all people well over 3 years to develop I am not going to hold my breath. I hope to be proved wrong (Really I do)

Very interesting developments I have been wanting a good 717 for years its such a beautiful plane coming from the DC-9 family with a modern cockpit it such a shame that other developers haven't been interested in this wonderful airliner.

We have way to many 737's now I'm very happy to see Milviz involved in this I really hope they can make it it doesn't have to be a heavy systems package I wouldn't mind a light systems plane to start with and end this awful 717 curse.

What would be even better is if in real world, Aviation Partners made blended winglets for it!

Turbofandude is a very good writer for 16 years old. I have faith!

Just a word from one of the Milviz programmers who has helped out TFDi on several occasions, Collin (aka Turbofandude) is a highly skilled programmer who I have a lot of respect for and who also knows his stuff when it comes to aviation. He may be young but he knows how to do research.
