OH MY GOD!!!!!

FS9/FSX/P3D. BREAKING NEWS!
1. KJFK Kennedy International Airport (Look out FSDT!)
2. KLGA LaGuardia Airport
3. KEWR Newark Liberty International Airport

That's correct folks! Here is 3 more names:
4. KLDJ Linden Airport
5 .KTEB Teterboro Airport
6. KCDW Essex County Airport

ALL IN DEVELOPMENT!

What am I talking about? A new product entitled: New York Airports X!

Stanislaw: The Polish Wizard has announced which I consider to be the first and biggest announcement of 2013 so far. The Polish are taking over New York and New Jersey and I could not possibly be happier! Along with the Manhattan Scenery in development seen below:
The team has also announced in HIGH QUALITY detail the following airports which you have already read:

1. KJFK Kennedy International Airport (Look out FSDT!)
2. KLGA LaGuardia Airport
3. KEWR Newark Liberty International Airport

4. KLDJ Linden Airport
5 .KTEB Teterboro Airport
6. KCDW Essex County Airport

7. KJRB Downtown Manhattan Heliport

This is a very smart move by the Polish team.  We have ALL been waiting on updated KLGA and KEWR airports for ever and now you are going to get them! But what's most amazing is the fact that the team is also hitting FSDT territory and going after JFK!

Now a lot of you may not be pleased about D.Design going after JFK but consider this: FS9 users will get an updated version of JFK something FSDT is only doing for FSX. You can most likely expect better frame rates, and there will not be a large autogen exclusion zone around the airport (an issue with the FSDT version) I am peeing in my pants right now!

Hey, look at these LaGuardia Airport previews!! Thanks Stan! We love you! And happy Valentines Day to everyone!!

Could be interesting from a VAS perspective, Dense Manhattan scenery + multiple payware quality airports nearby = OOM hell?

Musjo said...

Very interesting ... Looks extremely detailed!
I just hope that we're not going to get another "Northwest region"...

3 heavy airports within 50 nm vicinity + a Manhattan/New York scenery.

I'm already a little concerned regarding FPS/OOM issues...

Very exciting announcement and quite the undertaking!

DAndre Newman said...

That is a good question. We'll have to see what Stan has to say about that.

I will say this. FS9ners should have no problems. And when LM releases the P3Dx64 bit update, P3D usere shouldn't see OOM's even with heavy AI in the area.

Anonymous said...

Try it in FS9 and you won't have such problems :-) And with full AI also!

For those using FSX, I'm guessing this would be a good area to be using DX10 as it should help significantly.

I am extremely excited about this! A very strategic and intelligent decision. I personally could make frequent and regular use of KJFK, KEWR, and KLGA.

Additionally, it is nice to see another developer continue to improve and expand. I see no issues with including KJFK on account of another developer having already completed the project.

In fact, the tone of the developers on FSDT's forums can be quite off-putting, with an arrogant and condescending tone - even toward individuals who point out legitimate concerns and problems. Having choices is a good thing, and I have no qualms with seeing another quality developer nip at their heels a bit.

Am excited about this but i hope it wont push back the long waited EPWA!??

Wow! biggest news so far! Will buy it for sure! GO DD!!!

Update on EPWA tomorrow! ;)

DD i fully support you !, you rock, great work guys, and thank you so much for still supporting FS9 !!!!, not like those arrogant other developers
Thank you DD !!!1

Hope DD attacks from all corners...FSDT has been WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY to comfortable in their high chairs for too long. Glad to see someone rattle the cage. Also FSDT with the change of your spring and summer wardrobes, try changing that ATTITUDE!

FSDT version will have dynamic shadows. DD will be FS9 quality. U like FSDT because Umberto is scenery GOD. He is the best & I love him like a rock star.

This is the biggest announcement in the FS community in years!! Last biggest announcement was MS flight and that was a disappointment in the end. I am sure this one won't be a disappointment.

This is bigger than Orbx World, we are talking about the most ambitious and most amazing package ever EVER!!

Wow cant wait!

Thank you guys for your nice comments. We have no interest in FSDT or any other companies, please don't treat our work as a sort of competition (rivalry). We are simply developing the announced scenery package as good as possible, no matter what other companies do. We hope end users will appreciate it. I personally believe it could become quite an extraordinary add-on.

I know we as users of the software can become a bit demanding but the team over at DD has been execptional since day 1. The wait times are cut in half as well, and it isn't garbage either! I understand each developer has his or her own preference to mods and things but attitudes may make or break a bright future. YOU GUYS HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH THIS PACKAGE. Keep FS9 alive baby whoohoo!!!!!

with or without the shadow feature or the detailed ground from FSDT, this package of so many detailed airports is far more amazing than their sole KJFK. You get all detailed buildings of NY, you get KEWR, KLGA, KJFK and more... FSDT should just abandon KJFK and work on KORD which is bellow standards.

agreed!

I have some mixed feelings about this. First of all I really like that the NY airports get some renewded attention and that they are also are going to be published for FS9!
But when I'm flying in the New York area, everything is lagging (from 30 FPS to 2 FPS)... So I a really hope the scenery will perform well.

Musjo said...

Agreed... that was my point also.

We've already seen that Pacific Northwest is beyond any scenery development. FlyTampa had to abandon a reboot of KSEA because the area simply didn't allow it - performance wise. And FSDT's CYVR, FTX NW, PMDG, REX/AS etc put many top systems to their knees...
I also have mixed feelings - I'm quite happy with FSDT's KJFK - I miss a KEWR though.
New York area is quite heavily populated as it is. The thought of having a super-detailed Manhattan/New York scenery, and 3 highly detailed airport within 50 nm... pheeww. :)
Hope they can keep up the optimization... will be interesting

I actually find this announcement to be disappointing. I actually do not fly into or out of the Big Apple all that much -- it seems rather pedestrian and there are more interesting flights to be had.

I already have the NYC aiports from other developers. The one most need of changes is Newark, and I probably would be interested in a high quality version of KEWR.

However, the other two airports are a harder sell. I probably am not interested in replacing JFK. Perhaps if the new version substantially improves on the FSDT KJFK.

I really sort of wish that developers would not tread such familiar ground. There are so many areas which have not been touched, it seems wasteful to remake airports which already have a satisfactory model.

I really would like to see DD to continue to explore Eastern Europe. While there is no love lost between the Poles and the Russians, it is fair to note that Moscow and St. Petersburg have not been touched. Also there is not much available for places like B'elorus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaidzhan.

Also, it seems that DD has developed a skill for making cities. Rather than another New York, I would rather see other hubs, like Atlanta, Houston, Denver and Seattle.

Wow, can't wait for this slide show....

Fortunately DD offers demo versions so we can test it out. So we'll have to wait and see :)

Besides, there is no rule that says you have to install everything. Only install what you actually wish to use.
